Hi Ezequias! Melt and pour soap is a type of soap that you can melt, add color and fragrance to and pour into molds. There is a full list of the bases we sell at brambleberry.com. Super love this!! I just made them. When mixing the sugar it never got gloppy. It immediately became too thick like it was too much dry ingredients for the amount of wet. I had to add more soap and melt it all down again. They are cooling now, but I have a feeling it is not going to be too scrubby.

This is adorable! Could this be made in a loaf mold by layering the 3 different soaps on top of each other and then sliced? If so, would you recommend spraying rubbing alcohol in between the layers to help them stick?

Thanks for responding! I tried some of my scrub in the shower. The EO combo I used was yummy but yes, the brown sugar was a TAD aggressive! Gonna try it again with granulated sugar. I'm thinking the oil floated by itself because (a) I used unrefined avocado oil which is a bit heavy and (b) I didn't STIR enough before pouring/spooning the mixture into the mold.

I am super super new to soapmaking, but I can already say I would never recommend using jojoba oil in my soap.. because it stops the soap from making lather due to it being a wax, and I know I'm the kind of person that likes foam and bubbles and creamy lather everywhere. In my opinion, Olive oil isn't a good substitute for the sweet almond oil either. If I was allergic to almond oil then I'd substitute it with apricot kernel oil, because their chemical properties are very similar. I haven't got any apricot kernel with me but I'd try it out when I get it; I've tried it with jojoba and olive oil and it was absolutely disappointing because I wanted my fluffy lather :(

super super duper easy. i do have a quick question. does the vanilla color stabilizer smell like vanilla? does that ruin the rest of the essential oil smells that are poured to the soap? like for example, if i wanted my soap to smell like chocoalte, by pouring the vanilla color stabilizer would it ruin the chocolate smell of the fragrance or essential oil or whatever that i use to make it smell like chocolate?

Hi Katie! The good news is these scrubs are nice and firm, so they travel well! I would recommend wrapping them tightly with plastic wrap. Adding liquid soap will change the consistency of this recipe. It will make it a liquid texture instead of a solid soap bar. You can do that if you like. I would recommend adding more sugar to make it the texture of a scrub rather than a liquid soap. This Cleansing Orange Spice Salt Scrub is a great recipe: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/cleansing-orange-spice-salt-scrub/ You can use sugar instead of salt for the exfoliant. =)

i was wondering if measurements instead of using oz, i dont have a scale to weigh things like that.
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 9 жыл бұрын
+XXCraftyCreationsXX We like to use weight measurements because we find they're a bit more accurate! If you like, you can convert the weight measurements to volume measurements using a search engine. For instance, if you type "3 ounces in cups" in a search engine, it gives you about .4 cups. Keep in mind, the measurements will be off because you are using volume instead of weight. I would definitely recommend checking out scales for crafting. They're great for exact measurements. You can find those online or at a department store like Target. We also sell scales on BrambleBerry.com. =) Scales: www.brambleberry.com/Scales-Thermometers-C207.aspx Read more about weight versus volume here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/a-guide-to-weight-vs-volume/

+Sumayah Luna You can add the mica directly to the melted soap and stir well! You can also mix 1 teaspoon of the mica with 1 tablespoon of 99% rubbing alcohol. Then, add the color 1/2 dispersed teaspoon at a time. That helps the soap mix in smoothly and prevents clumping. =) Read more about how to color your soap in this post: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/talk-it-out-tuesday-colorants/

Hello, Do we have to add any preservative as we are using sugar in this soap? What is the life of this soap? Thanks In Advance :)
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 8 жыл бұрын
This recipe doesn’t need a preservative! Soap has a pH level that doesn't allow mold to grow. Read more about preservatives here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/lotion/talk-it-out-tuesday-preservatives/ Because the sweet almond oil in this recipe has a shelf life of 6 months to a year, the scrub will last 6 months to a year. It stores best in a cool, dry place. =) Read more about the shelf life of products here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/shelf-life-bath-products-ingredients-rancidity-vs-mold/ This post has more information on how to store your products: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/how-to-store-handmade-bath-products/

I made these for my family for Christmas, are they supposed to be foamy/sudsy? If not, is there a way to make them so? Thank you, you do absolutely lovely work!

Because of the added sugar and oil, the bars won't lather as much as regular soap. You can use Shaving Melt and Pour instead! That will add a bit more lather. We did that in the Juicy Couture Sugar Scrub Bar Tutorial: www.brambleberry.com/Sample-Idea-Sheet-for-February-2016.aspx Shaving Melt and Pour Base: www.brambleberry.com/SFIC-Shaving-Melt-And-Pour-Base-P4384.aspx

Hi Anne Marie, I love your website and want to buy everything XD As I'm based in the UK though, there's an awful lot of things that cannot be shipped to me, because of "low flash point" problems (not sure what that means, but it's a shame!). I was wondering if you might know of other outlets that do ship your products to England, or a retailer you could recommend that sell the same type of products, but in my neck of the woods. Thanks in advance, and love your vids xx

I'm under the impression I cannot use oxides to color sugar scrubs because it will produces a rather foul odor...I've been using lab colors, select shades, etc; I notice you're using a BB chocolate mica...are all micas okay to use in sugar scrubs? Does BB offer a black mica suitable for sugar scrubs?

Hi Marlene! You can use micas in sugar scrubs. You may find this recipe helpful, I used a Aqua Pearl Mica and a Coral Mica to give my scrub color. Sweet Summer Scrub Totorial: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/soaks-and-scrubs/sweet-summer-scrub-tutorial/ If you're looking for a black mica, I would recommend to sparingly use the Luster Black Mica! Luster Black Mica: www.brambleberry.com/Luster-Black-Mica-P3453.aspx I hope this helps!

Is there a similar way to use salt instead of sugar, or would it just not blend?

Yes, you can make a body scrub with salt instead. We have several videos on it, but this one is one of our favorites: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJbTknyiocebbsU You can get the kit here: www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-product/kits/body-care/raspberry-jam-scrub-kit/V700007.html

Can you use a different oil instead? Like safflower, grape seed, olive oil? I want to make these but forgot to order the oil from bramble berry.
