Super love this!! I just made them. When mixing the sugar it never got gloppy. It immediately became too thick like it was too much dry ingredients for the amount of wet. I had to add more soap and melt it all down again. They are cooling now, but I have a feeling it is not going to be too scrubby.

Thanks for responding! I tried some of my scrub in the shower. The EO combo I used was yummy but yes, the brown sugar was a TAD aggressive! Gonna try it again with granulated sugar. I'm thinking the oil floated by itself because (a) I used unrefined avocado oil which is a bit heavy and (b) I didn't STIR enough before pouring/spooning the mixture into the mold.

I am super super new to soapmaking, but I can already say I would never recommend using jojoba oil in my soap.. because it stops the soap from making lather due to it being a wax, and I know I'm the kind of person that likes foam and bubbles and creamy lather everywhere. In my opinion, Olive oil isn't a good substitute for the sweet almond oil either. If I was allergic to almond oil then I'd substitute it with apricot kernel oil, because their chemical properties are very similar. I haven't got any apricot kernel with me but I'd try it out when I get it; I've tried it with jojoba and olive oil and it was absolutely disappointing because I wanted my fluffy lather :(

Adding liquid soap will change the consistency of this recipe. It will make it a liquid texture instead of a solid soap bar. You can do that if you like. I would recommend adding more sugar to make it the texture of a scrub rather than a liquid soap. This Cleansing Orange Spice Salt Scrub is a great recipe: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/cleansing-orange-spice-salt-scrub/ You can use sugar instead of salt for the exfoliant. =)

i was wondering if measurements instead of using oz, i dont have a scale to weigh things like that.
@bramble-berry9 жыл бұрын
+XXCraftyCreationsXX We like to use weight measurements because we find they're a bit more accurate! If you like, you can convert the weight measurements to volume measurements using a search engine. For instance, if you type "3 ounces in cups" in a search engine, it gives you about .4 cups. Keep in mind, the measurements will be off because you are using volume instead of weight. I would definitely recommend checking out scales for crafting. They're great for exact measurements. You can find those online or at a department store like Target. We also sell scales on BrambleBerry.com. =) Scales: www.brambleberry.com/Scales-Thermometers-C207.aspx Read more about weight versus volume here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/a-guide-to-weight-vs-volume/

+Sumayah Luna You can add the mica directly to the melted soap and stir well! You can also mix 1 teaspoon of the mica with 1 tablespoon of 99% rubbing alcohol. Then, add the color 1/2 dispersed teaspoon at a time. That helps the soap mix in smoothly and prevents clumping. =) Read more about how to color your soap in this post: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/talk-it-out-tuesday-colorants/

Hi Patty! Absolutely! The Olive Oil Melt and Pour Base would work great with this recipe. =) Olive Oil Melt and Pour Base: www.brambleberry.com/Olive-Oil-Melt-Pour-Base-P3183.aspx
