This is on the list for next week. I am gonna go with a higher angle for the wide wedge, though. This will mostly get used for pendulum squats

I use squat wedges a lot. I used curbrsramps from hard-rubber. These worked so-so. Then I inherited some slants fromy uncle and these do the real trick. The are stackable for desired angle
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
I love the idea of making them stackable. I'll have to incorporate that in the V2

Pleas patent this tech and then manufacture a pro-grade version made of steel. I will buy it. Many people will buy it. These attachments are great for home gym enthusiasts that want the selection available in a commercial gym but for home-use, and without taking up as much space as a commercial-style gym.
@KaizenDIYGym Жыл бұрын
That is a great idea. Typically one utility patent costs over $10k to get the patent issued, then you need to have $15k-$20K in the bank ready to defend against potential patent infringement. If you don't defend it, you can lose the patent. So we're looking at $25k-$30k per patented item. I am not at the point where I have the resources to do that but hopefully some day.

Question. Do you also put grip tape on the bottom so that they don’t slide around, or slide out from under you when squatting?

I didn’t put the grip tape on the bottom and I haven’t had a issue with them sliding around at all.

I made some at ~15°. They're good for squats, but I'd recommend a bit higher for calf raises to get full ROM. Probably about 20°
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really like how calf raises feel with the 26° wedges
@rekik662 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I would primarily use them to stretch my calfs. Have you ever used a spray on bed liner?
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I used bed liner on my adjustable triad dumbbells. It works great. Definitely an option of the wedges as well.
@rekik662 жыл бұрын
@@KaizenDIYGym do you prefer grip tape over bed liner?
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
For the wedges, I’d rather use grip tape. It’s pretty secure, which is important when squatting heavy.

If youre lazy like me go to harbor freight get the rubber tire chalk set and if need a bigger platform put a pice old plywood over it. The rubber tire chalks doesnt move and holds the plywood piece with out screws or mounting needed. Plywood would need some grip tape though. But I havent needed to add plywood

Do you prefer the single or double wedge when doing squats?
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I like having both around. The wide wedge is an easy target to plant your feet on for squats but the individual wedges work better with my belt squat. Another benefit to the individual wedges is the ability to angle them out for squats.

What about grip for underneath the wedge?
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
My flooring is pretty grippy already so I didn’t need it, but you could add some rubber pieces to the bottom.
It strange to spend $30-$40 to make these when online they are around that price.... unless you already have the materials at home or what to do a custom angel that is. I'm just thinking they probably already have what you need online.

@@KaizenDIYGym - Definitely. Sometimes it takes someone else to notice these things lol. Have you tried using these squat wedges with your toes off the front? what do you think of that, in comparison to being completely on top of the wedges? I noticed that mostly people doing mobility stuff, like to be fully on top (with little to no weight), where as people doing doing regular gym lifts often like to have their toes off the front. I think they do this so as they can have better force-production since their toes aren't at a downward angle. Also (particularly if they train with no shoes), they don't gotta worry about slipping. But then you don't want the wedge itself slipping backwards from the foot if the toes are off the edge (for steep angles). Grip would help with that, but grip isn't super nice on shoe-less feet, so I think then the wedge just has to be reasonably heavy... like the metal ones.
@BeGrizzlyStrong2 жыл бұрын
Nails, screws and glue? Glue is enough. A couple of finish nails to hold while it dries is more than enough of you don't have clamps. People often don't realize how strong glue is. Also saves on materials, time in pre drilling/screwing, and makes for a cleaner appearance.
@KaizenDIYGym2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’d prefer to go overboard rather than have have someone build something that breaks and blame me for it. Plus, people go pretty heavy with squats. It’s better to make sure it is properly reinforced.
@BeGrizzlyStrong2 жыл бұрын
@@KaizenDIYGym sure enough. Most people are deeply ignorant about building anything. I can guarantee it won't be the glue that breaks but liability is a mf'er.
