Recently I’ve been using chainsaw bar oil whenever I drill anything metal and so far it is by far the absolute best I’ve used You can put a couple drops right on area to be drilled or put a couple drops right on the drip of the drill bit or hole saw and it will stay right around your drill bit as it spins you’ll see all the metal particles collect in the little bead of oil because doesn’t go flying like thin lubricant does and you’ll be amazed at how cool or I should say how not scorching hot your drill bit gets compared to using other lubricants. And how much longer you’re a bits will last

Am using this idea to use in a horse trailer tack room, making it a sleeping area with a bed, cooking area and a sink to clean up, brush teeth etc, while daughter is at horse shows. Thank you for the details. I think making it available for the homeless to have a way to keep clean is a awesome idea, very thoughtful. God bless you.

Good job buddy I'm installing sink in my conversion van but if I would have known I would have used a salad bowl but I went on and used a baking pan stainless steel rectangular but if I would have thought of this that you just did it would have been awesome anyway buddy good job and at this point I think I am gonna switch the pan for a salad bowl like you have because the baking pan is only 2 inches deep thank you buddy

To make the strainer flush in the bowl I used a bearing press kit that I had (Harbor freight: Front Wheel Drive Bearing remover and installer kit) to press in a dimple of the diameter of the strainer. I realize this kit is not cheap ($119) and you can also buy a dimple die flare tool on ebay for $30-$50, but I'm mentioning it in case anyone already has one. You can probably also rent one for free at the auto parts store (you pay for it and they refund you when you return it). I used a flare first ---\ /--- but realized I didn't need a flare as much as I needed a flat dimple ----___----, so from the kit I used a flat disk on the top and a cylinder on the bottom, the cylinder was about 1/4 inch larger than the disk diameter so it's only about a 1/8 of an inch difference in the border when they are centered. It came out looking great. Another option I had considered was hammering it with a hitch ball, luckily I didn't have to go that route. :) Nice work!!

Thanks for showing us the drilling part, but this video doesn't address my main practical concern - how to recess the strainer into the metal base of the bowl sufficiently to prevent water pooling in a rink around the fitting (or leaking out through the gap)

Here with the same problem! We did this a year ago planning to just round it out with resin or something but never happened. Let me know if you found a solution! Drying it out every night takes like 2 wash cloths or 6 paper towels Andre, there has to be a better way :'D

Hey Darien! Sorry, I didn't find a solution - just used sealant to prevent any leaks, and then water still pools around it in a ring. It's only 1mm or so thick though, so a quick wipe with my washing up sponge gets rid of it - not sure how you're getting 6 paper towels' worth but that's a lot! In future I will just pay the money and get a sink :p

Hey! Finally inspected it closer, been avoiding this project for awhile, my bowl bubbles up slightly in the middle 😂 so really picked a bad one. The sink attachment is also thicker than other videos I'm seeing. 🤦 I do think I'll try habitat for humanity before attempting this again 🤞

Easy solution----Lay 2 small 2x4s on the floor about 4 inches apart-- Place the hole in the bowel over the gap between the 2x4s---place a baseball over the hole and gently hammer it until the desired depth is achieved.

hello! thank you for the vid. I did do this for a square stainless steel container and it worked great. However, because the plug sits out a bit, it doesn't drain fully and a pool of water remains. Any advice on something to try to fix this?

all recesses have a slight pool in them because of the o ring that seals between the drain and bowl you just cant see it in the recess best solution use plumbers putty instead of o ring

I just finally did mine own ... I have the nut on the strainer to seal it to the bottom of the bowl, a hole in the countertop and another nut on the bottom of the counter to hold the bowl in place and pull it down enough to properly drain.
