This is exactly the kind of tutorial I have been looking for on here. I don't have any fancy tools... or really any at all. But I can do tape! making my list now! Thanks!

I bet some thin baseboard trim would work for this project... (for those of us without access to a wood-shop).
@MADEbyAP3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Another thing too is you could cut the trim down to size at the home center. I know my Home Depot has cutting stations with miter saws, so if you know your exact measurements you can just cut them there. And actually, make them a hair larger and just pick up some 120 grit sand paper so you can sand it down to a tight fit. OR, you could just buy a miter saw kit, I don't think they're that expensive and they come with the miter saw and a jig with different angles, so no power tools are needed. Good call out!

MISS Thommas thank you so much! And good luck with the bathroom mirrors. I will say that after a few months the tape is still holding strong! VHB tape is solid stuff!

Will this work in a bathroom, or will all the moisture cause the tape to fail over time?
@MADEbyAP11 ай бұрын
Hi there. I have heard of people using this method in bathrooms with success but I haven’t personally tried it yet. This product looks promising though (again haven’t tried it but it’s rated for moisture resistance) amzn.to/3S8bnHv

I wonder if some kind of glue could work instead of tape. I don't do well with tape.

Hiya, what wood do you need to buy for frame? and what type of pain u do need?
@MADEbyAP4 жыл бұрын
Maria Liza Basa hiya. I just bought molding from Home Depot. For the paint I used a satin enamel but you can use anything that goes with the look you’re trying to achieve. Good luck! Oh, you can see the full instructions here. www.madebyap.com/2020/06/14/diy-stick-on-mirror-frame/

Do know if there’s any stick on frames to cover original color frame
@MADEbyAP Жыл бұрын
Interesting question! I actually do not. I wonder if you could use contact paper. Like the kind you use to line a kitchen shelf? Just trim it down to size and then place it on, pushing into any grooves in the original frame? Could be an interesting experiment!

Thanks a lot for the great video!! Can I use some transparent glue instead of the tape? (For example Power Grab Ultimate Crystal Clear Construction Adhesive.)
@MADEbyAP3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm glad you found it helpful. I would be very careful with glue because it can get messy and if it expands out for any reason, then you'll be looking at glue globs. If you really had to go the route of glue, I'd look for something that doesn't expand and gives you some working time. Powergrab is a pretty quick cure so if you screw up there's not a lot of wiggle room to adjust. Look for something made for glass. I've never used it but Loctite PL530 is made for mirrors, granite and marble or even Liquid Nails Mirror Adhesive. Again, I don't have any experience with those but if I had to, I would go with one rated for mirrors and glass. I hope that helps!

How does the tape hold up in a bathroom
@MADEbyAP2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I haven't tried this in the bathroom yet. You may want to try a waterproof VHB tape? I did a quick search in Amazon and found this - I don't want to guarantee it'll work but it's worth an experiment for sure! amzn.to/33EBz5V

Awesome! Is that double stick tape renter friendly? Or would u recommend something else?
@MADEbyAP4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I don’t want to make any promises that it’s renter friendly but I will say that it is fairly easy to remove. Just use a sharp edge like a plastic putty knife to rock off the frame, and then clean up the tape residue with some “Goof Off” and a razor blade. Just go slow and take your time because you don’t want to break the mirror. You could also try regular double sided tape from like “Staples” but I don’t think you’ll get the same bond (which will give you a less tidy look). If you do go that route though let me know how it works out!

Hi there, for a bathroom mirror I'd use 3M's high bond VHB tape (amzn.to/3EVl5o6) I've never used it but it looks like its waterproof and handles temperature chang really well. Glad you liked the video and good luck!!

Question: Was the first "crime" committed with molding as well, just a thicker one?
@MADEbyAP4 жыл бұрын
Andrea White hey glad you’re giving this a go! The first crime I was covering up was just how my tape job on the original molding looked awful, especially since you could see the original color in the reflection. Plus the fact that I couldn’t remove the mirror from the original frame. So I had to use a thinner molding up against the original to make it all look cohesive. If you’re starting with a naked mirror you should be good to go with whatever molding you want. Just make sure you paint both sides!
@wayneguy60434 жыл бұрын
The tape will now be reflected in the mirror......lol
@MADEbyAP4 жыл бұрын
It may depend on the size of your molding but I just took this picture and I can’t see the tape! If you’re using a wider molding it’s probably better to put the tape in the center and near the frame edge to be safe. share.icloud.com/photos/0sxwtzKn7P-OHbZ-27DIbzkZA#Plainfield
