Thanks for the lovely video. I'm wondering what type of glue you recommend? Would standard Elmer's glue be adequate or does it have to be a special craft glue of some sort?
@seasonthemeddiy66159 жыл бұрын
+Diana Morris Hi Diana! Honestly, I've never used Elmer's glue, but as far as I know it would work! The one I used was the Pattex Wood glue (mixed with water), just because it was the one I had at the moment. I hope this helps :) Thank you for the comment and question.

Hi..i made a string tree and when it dried..it seemed to be floppy..would you know why?and how to fix this problem?thx
@seasonthemeddiy66156 ай бұрын
Hi. Seems to be lack of glue. Did you mix it with water? Maybe it was the wrong proportion. Was it fully dried? Could be that as well.

I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP! Does it really take 1-2 days to dry? Our school project is asking us to make string art lantern (Christmas themed) But were supposed to do it at school for only 1hr. Is there any way to speed up the process? I would honestly appreciate help.
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
It always depends on two main things: how much glue you use (that's why you should take the excess off) and where you leave it to dry (an area with some wind and no humidity would work best). I guess if you use a blow dryer in the cold mode, you can speed up the process a little! I hope this helps!

Great video. Do you think the string would tolerate water later?? I"m thinking of filling the string up with succulents
@seasonthemeddiy66152 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not sure really. The glue offers a bit of a cover, but I don't think it would be that strong. But that's an interesting idea.

Thanks for the video tutorial. one question.. will this work if i make this way larger like a normal size xmas tree? thanks
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can make it as large as you want. If you want to make sure it's extra strong, you just need to cover the tree with glue a second time and let it fully dry again! And if you use twine, you'll get the sturdiest tree, no matter the size! I hope this helped!

Hi. Would you write to me how much glue and water ( what's the ratio ) ? And how much of the string do I need?? Can't hear,that's why I ask. Great video! Thanks
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Hi! The ratio I used was 2 parts glue/1 part water. But there are people who do it 50/50. As for the amount of string, all I can tell you is that for that size of tree, I didn't use all the string ball you see in the beginning! I hope this helps! :)

Would parchment paper work instead of foil? Since parchment paper is also non stick?
@seasonthemeddiy66156 жыл бұрын
It could work, but unlike foil you would have to use glue or scotch tape to make it stay in place. However, I think it might actually be a good idea! If you try it let me know. :)
@Appaddict016 жыл бұрын
pigzrulez Plastic wrap would work, too.
@teresawitcher81578 жыл бұрын
How do you color them? Spray paint ? If so when? Before taking off the foil or after?
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa! I didn't colour any of them, because the string I used already had the colours you see. But if you're thinking of colouring your trees, I would sugest using a paintbrush and acrylic paint (after it's dry). Happy crafting!
@valokakiva56348 жыл бұрын
can we sit it by the fan to fasten the drying process??
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Well, if the fan is not so strong (or so close) that it spills the glue all over the place, you can for sure! ;)

Can it dry faster
@seasonthemeddiy66157 жыл бұрын
Hi Vivien. It will always depend on the weather (if you live in a place with a lot of humidity, it'll dry slowly), the place you leave it to dry in, how much glue you use. I've had a tree dry in 2 days once, but another one dry over night (in that one I took more glue off the string before I rolled it around the cone). You can also try using a fan or blow dryer, as long as it is far enough from your project, so it doesn't ruin anything around it. I hope I was able to help you!
@iheworld1348 жыл бұрын
can i use another cooking oil
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
+iheworld134 You can! Or if you prefer, you can even use baby oil, or sweet almond oil. The purpose is solely to help separate the base from the tree, once the string is dry :)
@atiyahsyakirah50278 жыл бұрын
Is it necessary to add water? I mean why do i have to add water
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Hi! I added water because the glue I used is wood glue, so it's not very liquid, so the water makes it way easier to work with, but if you have a glue that is fairly liquid, you can skip that part! :)

My strings kept on falling apart from the cone. :(
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Hi, Janice! I think you might be taking too much glue off the string or you're not rolling it tight enough around the cone. One other way to make sure the string holds itself better is to always change the angle you roll it in, if you understand what I mean. I hope this helps!

@deborahdegroat59759 жыл бұрын
mine just crumbled what am I doing wrong
@seasonthemeddiy66159 жыл бұрын
+Deborah Degroat Hi Deborah! What type of glue did you use? Depending on that, it might be too weak for the string you're using or you just didn't use enough glue. Also did you apply the oil to the foil to help separate the tree once it's dry? It's important, because if it is stuck, the strengh you use to separate it might ruin the tree. I hope this helped!
@deborahdegroat59759 жыл бұрын
Yes, I brushed the oil on and I used the regular white elmers school glue mixed with water, I also used yarn.
@seasonthemeddiy66159 жыл бұрын
+Deborah Degroat Ok, so I'm guessing the problem was the amount of glue... Next time, try adding an extra coat of glue on top of everything before you separate the tree from the foil. It will make it even harder. Then, when it's dry, carefully separate the tree. It should work! :)

the foil and cardboard don't come out easily and the string is broken. you didn't show how you did it. and also for the baloon. thanks.
@seasonthemeddiy66158 жыл бұрын
Hi, Ana. Did you previously apply oil like I suggest? If not, maybe that is the problem. And you have to try to separate it slownly and carefully, section by section so that the string doesn't break. The amount of glue that you've use might also be the problem. In that case try using less glue. Then, when you separate it you can easily give it a second hand of glue and it will be just fine. I hope this helps.
