Jules thank you for your videos, you are the king of subwoofer builds and knowledge. I have 1 svs pb 16 ultra and wanted to add either another pb16 or 2 diy subs in the rear off my room. Clean bass with low extensions. Thank you!

Absolutely! I 100% believe that this 15" build is the gateway for all home video enthusiasts to jump into more serious home cinema experiences. At less than $700 a unit the cost is great for the performance. The sweet spot is 2 of these with amplification for around 2k all in. Its outstanding. If you go with 4 it is more bass than 99.999 of all theater owners would ever need. Its a game changer. Everybody out there... what build is next?

This will have more output on a per unit basis assuming a strong amp is purchased. The cost is much higher though. If you have the cash and want to build you can’t beat the GSG. If you want a bunch of bass nice and easy the Starkes are a good way to go.

Thanks for the video. Very much enjoyed and equally learned. I live outside of the US, thus am unable to purchase a flat pack from GSG. Well it’s not economical. Thus I am building one(Marty cube 15) by reverse engineering plans and images if have obtained online. - It would be helpful for me if you could tell me me what the internal height of the vent. It appears to be ~50mm(2”). Would you be able to measure end tell me?

Curious if you preferred the Wagner for the duratex or if you preferred the cheap harbour freight gun with the small compressor you used in the devastator build. Which was easier to apply and which gave the best finish. Thanks.

The Wagner gave a better coat for me but its way harder to use.

Ok thanks. I’m reluctant to use the roll on duratex since I don’t want to take the chance on roller marks, but I only have a small hotdog compressor like yours, so I’m left with either the Wagner or cheap harbour freight gun options. Thanks for the info.

@@JilesMcCoy I can't wait! I really like your approach to reviewing stuff in your own space. I'm super interested in how you would compare these to the other GSG builds you have made and tested, as well as the Starke Sound SW15 you reviewed recently. I don't want to buy huge subwoofers just to turn them down and only ever use 10% of their power. 😄 In your opinion, are these SQL-15 Marty Cubes "Enough" for you in your room after having experienced the 18" and 21" offerings from GSG?

These boxes are just over engineered. Like all the gratuitous bracing...that is just totally unnecessary. It's not load bearing. You're not dancing on top of these things. A couple of wood dowels would be plenty enough. The home theater community can learn a lot from the car audio guys. Those folks are doing ridiculous bandpass enclosures with 16 18" subs weighing 100+ lbs each with insane neodymium motors doing 160 db inside of a Chevy Tahoe and don't use a fraction of the bracing being used for these single sub I've seen X- Games half pipes that have less bracing.
@JilesMcCoy Жыл бұрын
Rhw reason these are designwd like this is because lessons have been learned.
@parkersgarage421610 ай бұрын
I agree fully, if you put 2 window braces and corner gussets it's not going anywhere. U wanna get real crazy go w 3 windows. U gotta think when your paying almost 600 for a box. You gotta give something elaborate looking. Normal people simply dont know any better is all. Normal people probably think you need this kind of box. It's completely unnecessary plain and simple.
@philipdagariero538310 ай бұрын
Because they have to overcompensate to justify why they're charging $320-500 for $30 worth of MDF so they can pay off the CNC machine. I should know, I design 4th & 6th order bandpass enclosures for the mobile audio world. I could understand the copious amounts of bracing if you were in the lanes competing for SPL where a 10th of a decibel could be make the difference but even then, you're treading on rebar and pouring concrete into an vehicle but for a home theater set up... there's no logical explanation for the need for that much bracing. I challenge anyone making these videos to prove me wrong.
@parkersgarage421610 ай бұрын
@@philipdagariero5383 couldnt agree more, its completely unecessary and like you mentioned justifiication. then they try to make you think you need an elaborate box so they can sell you one. rather than you build your own for far far less money. and yes i bet 1 sheet of mdf was used in the design. actually youd be surprised to know this box costs 560 bucks lol. insane isnt it, i wonder if that includes shipping lmao. god i hope so lol
