DIY Surron Functional Brake Lights!

Sup guys, welcome back to the channel! The Surron comes stock with an "always ON" taillight, but I personally wanted a taillight that could also have an actual working brake light. So I ordered a taillight on amazon and wired up the brake lights using the stock brake sensors on the Surron. I also wired the taillight to turn ON/OFF with the headlight so I can turn it off in the day time when we're in the trails and such to save some battery.
I have a 2022 Surron Light Bee X, and I'm not sure if the wire colors vary between years but for power to the brake lights, I tapped into the red wire on the brake lever wires. You can double check the brake wires on your bike if you have a multimeter handy. One of those wires should have 0 volts when the brake lever isn't pressed, and 12.x volts when pressed. That's the wire you want to use.
If you've upgraded your brake system and you don't have the brake sensors anymore, you may want to check for a magnet sensor system, or for a full plug and play alternative, you can get the same kit Omar installed on his Surron that comes with brake lights, and front/reaer turn signals.

What if you don’t want the brake sensor on. I removed mine because it cuts your throttle control when you brake. That’s why most people remove it. Wonder if we can just cut the wire that leads to the engine cut off and leave the the sensor and route it to your brake light. That’s a Suzuki DRZ400SM brake light by the way.

I know some people cut their brake sensor wires because of this reason, but there’s actually a way to program it to where it disables the “throttle cut off” whenever you press the brakes. I’m not exactly sure what the process is cause my bike already came like that. And right on, thanks! I didn’t know what bike it came off of lol I just found it on Amazon and thought it looked nice haha 🤙🏼

and do you have to leave what it plugged in what if you using not stock brakes?

Yeah you kinda do, unless you can wire one of the wires off the sensors off a 12v source and the second wire to your brake light. They pretty much act as a switch. You have 12v coming in, and once the brake levers are depressed it closes the circuit and sends 12v out (which will go to the brake light) thus turning them on when you press the brake levers. As for using aftermarket brakes, you may have to try and search up after market brake light sensors that you could possibly use.

It’s pretty much a motorcycle light off Amazon that has a taillight/license plate light, brake light, and turn signals. I should have the link posted in the description. I’m not sure if they made separate on road / off road versions but this is the Surron Light Bee X.
