Love your videos, a great Sunday tradition that is very informative and entertaining. I am a helicopter guy and we called the feature you asked about ‘mast tilt’ on multiple models. Longitudinal or forward tilt to help the helicopter have a more natural attitude in forward flight, which will be the majority of operation and where instrument flight by the pilots is conducted. Lateral tilt helps balance forces in a hover where the tail rotor thrust is used to counter the torque force of driving the main rotor.
@johnparker30653 сағат бұрын
Whether in air or water the asymmetrical thrust from a rotating propeller or a heleo blade is called “P” factor. Some aircraft will have the engine mounted 5 degrees from normal to the firewall in an attempt to approach symmetrical thrust. Great videos! From Dave’s neighborhood.

370k on mine and still going strong. Just rebuilt the front diff which was noisy for over 100k. Bought it with 140k in 2012 and have had the usual things like oil cooler, suspension compressor, alternator and oil pump (precautionary), multiple LCA hydro-bushes, and it needs a new torque converter, but nothing major and it has never stranded me or been flatbedded in my ownership. I firmly believe Range Rovers are the best touring vehicle that can be had. Nothing has the same mix of comfort, performance and style that can still take on a gnarly bush track on road tires. They're unbelievable cars.

Nice video and finishing the control arms. Wheel alignment is such a pain because every adjustment affects each other adjustment. I have exactly the same camber tool and I never haven't got the same value twice a row. Ever, it always wanders. Calibration process of the tool is too sensitive and it can`t be secured. Thanks for the video. They allways are so veracious.

Top notch as usual, thanks to you both, Kristian I am not a helicopter specialist, but on small single engined aircraft, the engine is offset to compensate for the same, 3/4 inch/19mm longitudal and 1/4-1/2 6-12mm downwards on a Vans aircraft, by putting shims under the engine mount, the propeller is pushing on one side off the rudder, and you compensate by offsetting the centerline off the engine!!!!
@axellludvic349018 сағат бұрын
Does this also compensate for the moment caused by gyration?
@AJB115 сағат бұрын
I watched a video about that on KZbin once (a Brazilian video, as I'm learning Portuguese too!) - Christian is so right about learning random things from random videos being important! I'm trying to remember why it's offset. Was it the torque reaction from the engine (single engine planes), meaning one wing needed more lift that the other, and that meant you needed a rudder correction? And putting the engine at an angle compensates the drag difference from the wings without needing rudder?
@CharlesTimothy-en7to19 сағат бұрын

Christian I recognise the struggle to get the wheels on, as a LR owner myself. I made a tool that screws on one of the wheel studs that is the same diameter as the hole on the wheel. (Old wheel nut and some tube welded to it and the nut then ground to the correct diameter) This centres the wheel on one stud and makes it easy to fit the wheel nuts. You can buy these tools but a man of your calibre can knock one up on his lathe in no time! Good work as always 👍🏻

I believe when westlands developed the Chinook that it initially flew at an angle tilted backward during testing. The rear rotor is raised to encourage level flight. Not sure if that’s true but was a story I was told about 45 years ago by my father.

At least English speaking Germans realise that a soldering iron has an L in it. Christian, be careful with the generic Amazon 12v accessory / cigarette lighter sockets as I've used many and the positive live centre pins can fail and break through the plastic. I agree with Christioan. Place it in Park first and save wear on the motor. If that stops working you have a world of pain! BTW I call it a soldering Iron the same as you. Clamp on current meters are very useful. 15 L/100km is what I get from my D4 towing my 3 tonne caravan at 90kph so that is pretty good for a D4 doing 150kph! The rules on windscreen repais in Germany seem to be similar to Australia. I have had three new windscreens in the last 3 years and now I also supply all new clips because the windscreen people just use the old ones or some Chinese copies that never work. Thanks for another informative video.

42:55 No problem! 2.8 auto hilux (the auto is less efficient then a manual according to Toyota) that weighs in around 2.8 - 3.000kg the fuel consumption is around 8.8 - 9.5. Winter time (Scandinavia) is 10L. The best I got from 150 000 km (without a single fault except a slight leak from a intercooler pipe that was changed during a service) was 7.6 in France but that is below 100 km/h.

Christian and Vera you are very energetic and practical folks, you just get in and get the jobs done. I think anybody would really be very fortunate to be the next owner of any car you've owned, it would always be in nice condition. Christian don't be too sure that a Toyota 4x4 couldn't get better than 9L/100klm. My 2.8 litre Fortuner, about same weight and size as a D3 easily gives 8L/100klm on a trip. But I take your point, the V8 Toyota "What cruiser" can chew through up to 25L/100klm towing a big Caravan.
