You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzbin.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

An excellent homemade table saw which appears to put many store bought table saws to shame (with the exception of expensive professional saws of course). If that saw was placed on sale in a woodworking store it would sell all day long. Very professional looking in my opinion, I also agree with another comment that this table saw is very likely more accurate than a good number of factory made versions. A good job very well done. Thanks for posting your build. ’m struggling to understand why anyone could consider giving it a thumb”s down? I would be very interested to see these peoples table saw builds that must clearly be “superior “ which I hasten to add I very much doubt. Guy’s like this should be encouraged, not discouraged as they give inspiration for others to attempt their own builds which can only be a good think in my book.👍

I totally get it. I just had some dumb luck and when I was much younger purchased a table saw that now is one of the ones everyone wants. I had no idea at the time, I just needed a decent saw. Now, with the improvements I made to it I wouldn't trade it for anything out there. Stiffness is always a problem, even with a table saw that is why they make the aluminum plates that sandwich the blade. It's to add stiffness and rigidity so the blade does not deflect under load. Start cruising Craigslist and Let Go in your area . You would be surprised how many tools are out there and you can get some excellent deals. I just picked up a Rigid 6 -1/2 joiner. It normally sells for $599 or more. The guy wanted $100 for it. I put another $100 in it replacing blades and bearing and that put it right back to almost brand new. With a little cleaning, de-rusting and painting it looks and performs like brand new.

You are right. You can do a lot of work with your saw, and your fence guide is a good invention and looks very functional. I was over hasty in my judgement
@DEXTER9414 жыл бұрын
Great table saw and very good fence design and clamping. Only one thing you forgot though, you don't have a riving knife fitted behind the blade, in the US they call it a splitter. It stops the wood closing in on the blade after the cut has been made and reduces a kickback happening. Sometimes the circular saw will have one fitted and it moves up and down with the blade when adjusting the depth of cut.

I've watched many many table saw builds but this is the one that most aligns with my own logic for stability/rigidity of the fence along with your choice of using marine plywood - excellent all round. But a couple of questions being 1: How did you resolve easy blade height adjustment? 2: Dust extraction? thanks
@garage11685 жыл бұрын
Saw is easily accessible from any side - blade height is adjusted as on regular saw. Dust extraction - I use vacuum cleaner what turns on when saw is started.

@@garage1168 Thanks I appreciate what you are saying and again I think your work is great it was just that you didn't show it in the video. So I was curious if you ended up mounting it on a stand/frame? With being open on all sides where did you position your vacuum? And I was curious whether you'd added a way to easily adjust blade height without having to reach under and adjust manually? Maybe you could do a follow up vid?

I have a question please. I see table saws being built, where the blade gets raised through the table to cut the groove etc. Also, where the miter/guide runners are in place. I have a nice piece of table top (32mm thick) of which I want to build my table saw from a cheap bench table saw. But I am concerned that the blade/motor and guide rails will not be 90° to the table edge (where the Table fence will attach to). How does one go about to make sure that the blade is square to the edge to begin with? Or how does one dial everything in square once the blade has cut through the table top? Thanks in advance.
@garage11684 жыл бұрын
Start with making slot for t-tracks/miter gauge, as it is only thing what can't be adjusted. Make them max perpendicular to front of table. Then put circular saw / make it possible to adjust circular saw. Make blade parallel to t-track. Put on fence and make it parallel to t-track. If you make circular saw and fence adjustable, there should not be any problem to make everything parallel/ perpendicular.
@TheoTHERON_SA4 жыл бұрын
@@garage1168 Thank you for taking the time to reply. It makes perfect sense to me now. I worried so much about something that is not really difficult! I will just have to take my time to miter the two track slots carefully parallel to each other and square! Thanks again

It’s wonderful but in UK 18mm birch ply costs about £60 a sheet (2.4 x 1.2m). It’s fabulous wood but negates the point of doing work like this. 18mm OSB is 1/3 the cost but surface would need a laminate finish. 11mm OSB is stronger than 18mm so two sheets could be laminated but the same surface issue applies.
