Do you have an idea of how much a finished tabletop fire pit costs once you get the stainless cup and based upon the cost of the concrete? Also, I didn't see a link for extra stainless steel cups.
@lefty9488 Жыл бұрын
Love this! Going to get a mold and try one myself. One video idea I would love to see is how you clean all your tools. I feel like there has to be a better way to clean up than how I do, curious about your process!

Glad you love it! Thanks for watching. I do show how I clean up in my “in-depth concrete jar tutorial” a few videos back. Around the 14:32 mark. Not much to it. Just hosing off my tools in the backyard. :)

Thank you for watching! Not a silly question at all. I decided not to seal them…I didn’t really see a reason to with the fire pits. On the rock bed one, I did put a quick little swipe of sealer just in the rock bed to try and help with scratches from the rocks.

Hi Bree, I had ordered those 3m clear stickers to protect the bottom of my concrete from your amazon store link. Is that what you put on the bottom of these firepits? If so, is 4 plenty?
@calafiacandleco Жыл бұрын
Yep! I actually used 8 on the fire pits, but you could probably get away with less.

Thinking of doing these for some craft fairs I have coming up. How did they sell for you and what price did you charge?
@calafiacandleco Жыл бұрын
I actually haven’t sold any. I have been meaning to check with my insurance that I can sell something like this since it’s a much larger flame than a candle. Somehow that task fell to the bottom of my priority list 😂. I would check on Etsy. I know there are a few sellers with them listed on there. You can see what they’re charging and get an idea.

Cracked! Just used this mold and cement all last night. Looks GREAT! I let it cure overnight and it cured for about 12 hours. I used it for picture purposes and it was burning for about 15 minutes and then I noticed a crack almost perfectly vertical. Also noticed the cement all warmed upon from the flame (yes I used the stainless steel cup). How long did you let it cure before using it?
@calafiacandleco Жыл бұрын
You definitely need to let it cure more before lighting. I would recommend at least 3 days. It's a lot of concrete and needs time to cure and build its strength before being exposed to heat.
@LD-nv6wv Жыл бұрын
@@calafiacandleco I left it cure for about 15 days and it still cracked. Can a sealer prevent this? :) looks great anyway :)

@@calafiacandleco well poop. I let the next one cure over two weeks. Still cracked. In fact, cracked in 3 areas. All vertical hairline fractures
@pratiteeshah47447 ай бұрын
I faced a similar situation. It cracked after 30min. And I tried it 3 months after making it so I’m sure it had enough curing time! Not sure if someone has ideas.. @calafiacandleco

Do you add anything to cement all or concrete to keep the pit from cracking from the fire? Or is the cup sufficient enough? I added the alcohol in the pit hole with no cup and it cracked when lit.
