Very cool, i have never heard of a Ulu before, looks like a good handy tool useful for lots of things.
@spookycrow111 ай бұрын
Yep It is! And since an Ulu is an old native Inuit cutting tool by tradition (Alaska, Canada and Greenland), used by women, even kept in the family with high regards inherited to their daughters, this sort of tool would make an ideal gift for every modern female bushcraft or outdoor loving enthusiast this day's too ;-) Making an individual and personal created Ulu for the better half or girlfriend, may helps to sweeten up the bond at a next outdoor event. ;-)

Ever thought about trying to cast one of those in aluminum bronze that's almost as hard as steel and it would look cool because it looks different, the golden ulu. Well, if you know how to cast.(if not, please disregard)

I will try that, in some bronze. Its good for experimenting. There is a alloy called manganese bronze it can be hard like a file. And yes, in bronze that will be a beauty
@adcaptandumvulgus425211 ай бұрын
@@masumscustoms yeah aluminum and manganese are pretty easy to get I guess the pure copper would be the most difficult and that's really not that hard if you find some good wire/ plumbing easy. Hope it works out. I'll have to look for a decent cpm D2 ulu

If I may point out ;-) There is a small all plain gold bronze Ulu availabl already: www.dictum.com/en/special-purpose-knives-fac/bronze-rocker-knife-719175 Apart from that you may find a lot of knife making parts and tools for working with all sorts of materials on the webpage too. Or just have a look at the Finish H.Roselli carbon steel Ulu with birch handle here: www.dictum.com/de/messer-fuer-die-besondere-anwendung-fac/h-roselli-wiegemesser-eskimo-ulu-kohlenstoffstahl-721331 H.Roselli web page: us.roselli.fi/collections/kitchen-knives/products/ulu-knife?shpxid=b5b6a73a-5348-4634-b2a1-46088be9d55e

@@adcaptandumvulgus4252 its not hard, if you do bronze casting a lot then you have all you need in your shop. And thats why i will try one in diffrent bronze alloys. And the form of a Ulu is interesting for a edc knife

@@masumscustoms yeah I'm more for practical blades that will be used every day that's why my EDC is just a regular old box cutter. It's pretty handy having blade changes in the handle ready to go whenever you need it.

Looks like a modern version of a flint skinning tool
@spookycrow111 ай бұрын
That's exactly the purpose of it, where the original pattern coming from, adapted and mixed up with modern materials.

It’s a great idea. Thousands of years of design and proven to work. I might have to make one of these. I like the handle scales on yours. Great job
