I love how you often used square dimensions for your support members. Keeps the math simple. Also, the extra length of your wood screws will add strength and prevent movement of the screws. Very clean build compared to others I've seen.

Ok. Obviously these guys did great work. Absolutely awesome. The majority of builds I've seen on KZbin really look disposable. This one by far is the most labor intensive, I have no idea what the structure weighs, it does appear to be a little on the heavier side. All in all. Fantastic job guys 👍

Hey mike, thank you so much. We put a lot of effort into this build and we still do.. The camper has has been on the road for around 20'000km and we're doing fine. With the added solar system and compressor coolbox we are looking at around 550kg total. This includes everything besides food, water and clothing.

Merci beaucoup

Nice Dakota build. I was wondering why you offset certain beams from each other in the main structure.
@mikeredhead2894
@mikeredhead2894 7 ай бұрын
The reason to offset certain frame members is simply to have a straight line of sight for the screw to enter, rather than toenailing on an angle.

Is that fiberglass with plain paint over the top? Veey few builders use it. I think it would be better than just plywood.

Looking good - finally some glue😍👍 Are the screws used self taping or are you predrilling? Armaflex is interesting looking, a bit expensive here in canada but environmentally friendly. Cheers
@TruckHomeSwitzerland
@TruckHomeSwitzerland 3 жыл бұрын
i did not predrill anything so far. The armaflex stuff is really pricey too over here. i used armaflex in my first diy camper too and it really does its job.

For all that wood, you may have to upgrade your brakes and suspension.

Hey, yes we do. Empty weight (camper, diesel heater, electricals + battery) around 350kg. We then added all the things you need like kitchen boxes, gas cookers, cooler, matress ect, this adds up to around 450kg.

@TruckHomeSwitzerland
@TruckHomeSwitzerland 3 жыл бұрын
It would be too heavy when fully loaded.. but i removed the rear bench and middle seat in the cab, overroll bars, tailgate and trailer hitch. This gives me 130 kg extra. The empty camper is around 360kg.
