How to make it a little more darker and yellower? I need this for brown mexican skin..
@WestCoastDIYMama5 жыл бұрын
Hi Anushka, if you wanted a darker pigment you could try different color clay. The place where I purchase my clay from has browns and yellow. I would suggest mixing french yellow clay and cocoa brown natural clay. You can also use colored oxides in small quantities as they a very pigmented. Here's a link to their website www.voyageursoapandcandle.com/search?q=clay Hope this helps :)

I’ve tinkered for years- you can do virtually everything else without zinc oxide except nude lipsticks and concealers/foundations. Trust me- you’re not making this without it

Hi there, I found this concealer to be a slightly tacky but hydrating. I think if I added corn starch or arrowroot powder into the ingredients it would help the overall consistency. All the best ♥️

thanks Josphel! The contest end Dec 1 so it looks like you'll probably win then you can try it first to see how you like it. In the future if you do make it you can tweak with the pigments to find the perfect blend using different clay pigments or micas.

Hi! I don't have brown iron ixode, but was wondering if I could potentially use cacao powder. If yes, how much do you think I would need for a medium tan with yellow undertone? Thank you! Love your videos btw.
@WestCoastDIYMama4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ana, thanks for the love! Yes you could use cacao powder it would give you a bit of a chocolate scent but who doesn't love chocolate. I would suggest using a little at a time then testing. You can always reheat the mixture in the hot bath. I find that this concealer can be a bit heavy so I would tinker around with some arrow root powder or corn start to lighten it up...maybe 1-2 tsp 👩🔬

A lot faster and cheaper way of doing this is just to mix face powder and dollar store lip balm.

hi!! i loved this video and i find it suuuper helpful. i’m making a final project for my high school, and wanted to do something like this. i was just wondering if these ingredients are all natural/organic? (sorry if this is a stupid question, i have little to no experience with cosmetics and how they’re made)
@WestCoastDIYMama5 жыл бұрын
Hey! glad you found the video helpful and yes it is made with all natural/organic ingredients. Just a carrier oil like sunflower oil, clays (for pigment), zinc oxide ( natural mineral used in sunscreen but acts as a good base for coverage in this recipe) and beeswax which helps to keep it firm. If you're also curious to know how to make other DIY natural makeup check out the playlist on my channel "DIY Skin & Makeup + Personal Care Essentials" I've got a mascara, lip balm/stick, cream blush, solid perfume and basic skin lotion video that you might find interesting. Good luck with your project! 💚

can you use something else if you don't have the yellow clay
@WestCoastDIYMama2 жыл бұрын
You could use pigmented oxides or other clays 💗
@terriwhite77532 жыл бұрын
Great video! QUESTION: What can I use to replace the zinc oxide if don't want UV blocking? Or, do I really need the zinc oxide at all? How did you mention using the arrow root or corn starch - for what purpose?
@WestCoastDIYMama2 жыл бұрын
I find the zinc helps bring out the pigment colors. Also without it the concealer won't provide much coverage. Arrow root and corn starch are both great at absorbing moisture and the heaviness from oils used in the recipe. Hope that helps 💗
@Sharperthanu12 жыл бұрын
You better practice 100% UV blocking for your face and neck or by the time you're in your mid thirties you'll look like death warmed over.UV radiation (sun exposure) causes all wrinkles and cataracts.
@terriwhite77532 жыл бұрын
@@Sharperthanu1 I think what you are referring are for people with no melanin where the sun causes damage immediately. Keep in mind, a fact, those with rich melanin do not experience the same negative effects of the sun. So your comment is a bit related to a select group of of people and not all, as you have implied broadly.

@@Sharperthanu1 I'm 58 and rarely used sunscreen on my face and I promise I don't look like death nor do I have many wrinkles. But I never sunbathe either.

How would I make this concealer more lightweight? Less stiff?💜
@WestCoastDIYMama4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eloise, I wonder if you reduced the beeswax just a little and added some arrow root powder or corn starch it might feel less stiff and reduce the heaviness. I'll have to tinker around with this recipe💓

Hi this is so awesome,going to try it. How would i go about it for my shade? I'm fair/light
@WestCoastDIYMama5 жыл бұрын
Hi Whitney! I'm fair/light as well and I used French yellow clay. There's a few different clay options you could also use to get a darker colour such as browns+yellows. If you needed this to be a bit lighter then you could add a tiny bit more zinc as it's used in the recipe not only for coverage but it increases the lightness of the concealer. I use this daily but have found it to be a bit tacky under my eyes but it covers my dark circles well + blemishes. Setting with a powder helps with the feel. In the future I might try and experiment with a liquid concealer

I would say a bit tacky...personally not my favorite recipe after using it for awhile. I think it's useful for covering up blemishes but maybe not for under eyes. Would be nice to tinker around a bit more to find a formula that's not tacky. I think personally making your own concealer is a bit tricky. I love making lotions and lip balms since they're so much easier to play around with. Hope this helps 😊

What can I use instead of oxide zinc ?
@WestCoastDIYMama4 жыл бұрын
Titanium oxide perhaps. The zinc adds a level of coverage that the pigments can build off of
