Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos you’ve helped me an keep my motivation as I love hostage NY don’t want to leave but also not easy to just relocate your family as so many think , we have ample opportunity to do what we can an it’s refreshing to see I’m not the only New Yorker left lol

On Vancouver Island we have much cloud and rain in winter and shoulder seasons. In the 4 months straddling New Year's we average only 2 hours per day of clear sun. Like you I had barrels of water. A big problem is that if the sky is cloudy all day, your barrels add verrrry little heat, so for the following night you are storing only 'coolth'. We often have a week of full time cloudiness. Your local met office should be able to give you data for all 12 months. I enjoyed your chat and relate a lot to it. Thanks

You can put a fish tank heater in a few of the barrels. And maybe even power them with a solar panel.

Really nice! I just built out a setup I think may work all winter here in NY as well. I cut the white 55 gallon barrels in half the long way to make low tunnels and buried the blue barrels cut in half in the ground for insulation. I have 6 of these inside a greenhouse 3 on each side. I’m hoping this along with the row covers over the crops inside the low tunnels and blankets on top of the low tunnels during really cold periods will keep it growing all year. I’m also looking into possibly adding a Jean pane composting heater!!

Im interested in your mole houses/traps. Did you make or buy those? If you purchased those, can I ask where? After this amount of time, where would you have improved on the sustainability or build of your greenhouse? Living in the south we do get some cold times through the winter. You have excellent ideas we could use in the building of our greenhouse. Thank you

Hi There, I do have to spend the time and about the process in your blog.. but in a nutshell .. is the barrels of water actually what is heating the greenhouse? Thanks for sharing a nice video. :)

My parents want to grow some veggies and my sister left a metal loft bed behind that I hope to use as the structure of the small greenhouse because I’d hate to trash it :/ does anyone think it could work? If not maybe I could use it as a trellis … I’m open to suggestions

Propane and natural gas actually burn clean, no carbon monoxide. They can burn up all the oxygen, but the closure would have to be very air tight.

This is really awesome! Where did you get all those 55g drums? I'm looking at building a simple greenhouse, however yours is inspiring me to possibly implement some of these ideas. Also, have you considered painting the drums black to absorb more heat? Also, perhaps a simple cheap "hack" I seen was to simply take some rolls of clear bubble wrap and add a layer of that to the inside of all the windows as a means of improving your thermal rating for all your windows and solex. I was thinking to myself, (jokingly) this isn't a greenhouse, it's a spa! I would love to see more videos on this.

Thats beautiful..great job man..... Its not easy to build anything that will last in the north country...especially a plastic house...hahahana...you really need to plan for the worst mother nature will throw at you and hope for the best... My problem is after July..dealing with heat spikes ..

Curious where are you located in Upstate NY? (Region/area, not specific) -- my family is looking to move out there and your terrain and area looks beautiful. Nice greenhouse btw! Maybe consider adding some geothermal heating in the future!

Very interested in your greenhouse, and your project in general - but the repetitive video game music will stop me from watching more... I hope this was a one-off experiment. I recommend covering your mic with something soft/fluffy - even a sock will help - to cut the wind noise.
