Every couple months I find myself coming back to this video for inspiration. I’m currently working on my first denim vest that I’m trying to cover in local band patches and studs. Love from LA!
@highflowerfairy25543 жыл бұрын
My friend used to take studs off belts. I'd watch him work on his jackets for like six hours at a time before breaking long enough for food. Didn'teven smoke while worked. It was mesmerizing. I'm making my first, trying to get an idea of how many studs to start off. * I always want to do a workout when I'm walking down the street. Holy shit, over 3000 studs??? Thank God I'm not going full coverage.
@bansheescareall10519 жыл бұрын
So many studs! Amazing job guys! All really awesome. I especially adore your black vest with the criss cross back and your red jacket with black studs. They are both lovely! I have a few jackets I need to fix up. Always good to have more inspiration. Thanks! I would love to see more. Pants or whatever you have. :)

the thing I hate about studding my jacket is that the minute i start going out with the jacket the studs fly off and i have wasted so much effort. grrrrr
@olan56538 жыл бұрын
what I suggest is get some fabritac and glue the prongs together after you stud them. should last prettylong
@Livingdeadgirll8 жыл бұрын
Totally, you might not be bending the studs close enough to the base of the stud, most studs (except triangle ones? Not sure why) have long enough prongs that they should just barely overlap one another or at least be tightly touching when they're bent in! I use a butter knife to bend mine over and it gets pretty close to the base. If the prong is too short you can hot glue between the prongs so that they don't wiggle out!
@rubymee18 жыл бұрын
Livingdeadgirll I mean the screw on studs. They just keep getting unscrewed. I think they are falling off because its a fake leather jacket so the material is thin. I don't know what i can do. They don't tighten to the point were they are sturdy enough but i tighten them as much as they go, it's just that the material is too thin I guess. Do you understand what i mean? Do you think I should even bother to continue?
@olan56538 жыл бұрын
what I suggest is get a jean/ army jacket and use that not fake leather for screw on studs. use that jacket to put patches/ prong studs on it not screw on

Livingdeadgirl how are you? I hope you're staying safe!! I decorate leather jackets, ya know paint, spikes, studs, patches etc. and once I've finished the jacket I use a spray finish to protect my artwork. However, the last jacket I did was not in fact leather it's polyurethane and the finish I used cause I didn't check to make sure it was leather. It's not so my finish didn't dry. I'm hoping you might have a suggestion on what finish I can use that will dry? Thanx in advance for your help!! Stay safe!!

Question: should you put the stud prong in to the stud prong hole next to it or leave a small gap ? Noticed that my jackets start to rip from the studs being right next to each other . Maybe it’s just a shit Denim jacket not sure .. peace ✌️
@Livingdeadgirll4 жыл бұрын
If you want the studs to be dense, you would use the same hole. Denim wears away and stretches out faster than other materials, so you MAY need that gap for structural reasons. I would say the same hole method works best for leathers and vinyls.

I'm just starting on my first jacket (I'm only 14) it's my dad's old army jacket and it already has a few studs (my dad used to be super into the punk scene and still is) do you guys have any tips on getting studs to stay?
@Livingdeadgirll8 жыл бұрын
Callme Zerø totally! Making sure you reeeeeallly push them all the way through! I always use a butter knife to bend the prongs down because it can get soooo close to the edge of the stud! The pyramid ones always suck for staying because their prongs are made so much shorter! So go for circles or cones! Also, after you're all done grab a hot glue gun and some glue sticks and coat the backs of them, squeezing it all around the prongs and underneath them if you can get in there! It will really help hold them in there! After that we always either (liquid stitch or sew) a piece of fabric on the inside of the garmet to keep the metal and glue from bothering us!

Livingdeadgirll I tried using a red acrylic and it didn't turn out as bright as Justin's first jacket
@Livingdeadgirll7 жыл бұрын
Michael McDonald there's a couple reasons that may have happened. It may have been just a less opaque brand. Justin said his said the word "bold" on the tube. Some people start with a layer of white as a base and then do the color overtop! Some colours get muted when layered over a dark leather!
@Str1king_c0bra7 жыл бұрын
Livingdeadgirll well thank you I'll keep trying, trial and error
@Livingdeadgirll7 жыл бұрын
Michael McDonald exactly!! Sometimes things you try just work out first try and others you need to keep trying different methods! Like for bleaching clothes I never got it as light as I wanted until I decided to hang it in the sun to dry. That did the trick and got the bleached spots super bright! It's all about trying every method till you find what works best!
