You should get some color changing wax to add after paint the wand comes out so cool. Graphic 45 and Prima slots of options.

That was great! All the lathe wands have a sameness because a lathe has certain limits, unless the person is pushing a lot of hand work to replicate one of the movie wands. Change the tools and it changes the look. This is more like the ones I saw fifty years ago when you went to a tree at midnight, cut a branch with your arthame, and stripped off the bark at home.
@bipolarchemist4 жыл бұрын
Nicely done. I love the simple tool approach to this wand. I think the only think I would change is to use a wood stain instead of paint in hopes of keeping more of the wood character. If you do another wand with an acrylic insert, maybe you can try to embed something so that everything can see what the 'heart' of the wand is made of.

I just like the fact that you used tools that most of us would actually be able to get(not all of us have access to something that may seem as simple as a bandsaw to most DIY crafters, and to own one is a nightmare if you don't have the capital and space to use it).

Could the tape trick be used if we wanted to make an exposed resin, like an inlay spot in the handle? Basically drill away a hole in the handle, then add tape as you did to lock it in until set? Or would there be a better technique for that.

Applaud the "low tools" approach, but who's got a vise as a "first purchase(s)" and how would you stabilize a drill if you didn't? (The only reason I've got access to a vise is my dad mounted it on an old cabinet, so my mother didn't bother to sell it off when he died. I don't technically have a vise of my own.

Beautiful dog! 💜 What’s her name? (I’m guessing a girl because of the bow on her collar.😄) Oh and, yeah, nice wand! 😂😂 Seriously, I really enjoyed watching you make it. I was wondering, at first, why you weren’t using your lathe. Then I thought exactly what you said about the tools most people might have. Looking at the finished wand, I think it wouldn’t have looked quite so “authentic” if you had used the lathe. 😄 Thanks for another great video! 👍🏼 ~ Roma
