beautiful in its simplicity and stylish to boot, a gentleman's wand to be sure. ideas on how you'd make one with a curving handle (al'la Bellatrix)?
@BucketheadStudios3 жыл бұрын
I think I would make it in a similar way, although maybe profile the curve on the bandsaw, then round it out on the sander

I noticed you used the "Micro-Crystalline wax polish" to finish your wand. Does that help to preserve the natural finished color of the wood, and does it work on lighter colored woods, such as zebrawood?
@BucketheadStudios Жыл бұрын
It does add lustre and protection. May darken lighter coloured woods though

Is this possible to do by hand?
@BucketheadStudios Жыл бұрын
A lot more difficult, but certainly you could with a knife or hand plane, then sanding. Would take a lot longer, and the result might not be as even, but possible with time and tenacity

Hey, really like your videos, they are an inspiration to my. I want to start making replica of wands from the movie and have been thinking of making Sirius black’s wand. The issue I have is finding ebony to a reasonable price (not $200 for shipping) where do you get your ebony?
@BucketheadStudios3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙂 I'm in the UK. I get my ebony from Ebay, can usually get a good chunk for about £30-40 gbp, enough to make at least 4 wands. Usually 50x50x450mm-ish. You usually need about 20x20mm by whatever length as a good blank to start with.

Hello i love your videos. could you make the top wand at the end of the video in a diy?
@BucketheadStudios3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I can see if I get another commission in again for it if I can squeeze in a video. It's very similar in the sanding, but leaving the bottom part square and tapering it to the round. I then went in with a dremel and various bits (sanding drums, round grinding bits etc) and added the scooped out sections all over the bottom third. Then all polished out the same way 🙂
