i plan on doing this as well with mine.. i’m just going to use a factory sized spare though, plan on using a cardboard template and just cutting some ply-wood, then going to Menards and buying automotive carpet to wrap on the top

Best of Luck!!! I know with a factory sized spare it’ll be a lot more stable than mine. You might even be able to store more stuff down there as well!👍

Is the subframe bolted to the car or just sitting on top
@projectgoodspeed12 күн бұрын
@jesusluna363 Its velcroed to the frame. Using heavy duty strips on 4 corners it doesnt move at all!👍

@jesusluna363 Nice! The Rex would look clean with one👌 just make sure if you get carpet, get good one. The one i chose (which is also linked i believe) isnt that good. Tbh. Ive had it on for a while and its not so much carpet as it is a giant cotton ball.. lol i swear i can stick some tape on to it and peal of a bunch of fibers 😅 not what i had in mind when i order “carpet” from Amazon but i think next time ill leave the wood grain showin👍

Hey I was wondering where you got your spare tire and wheel setup that fits in the trunk? Been to the junk yard and everything there is wayyy too big. I also followed your vid and made my own trunk deck layout if you want to see some pics.

@JoeyZaciewski Niiice!👌 soo for the spare tire i basically got some rough measurements of the trunk and estimated how certain sizes might fit into it. I started by looking at what sizes were available from factory. I came to 3 different conclusions based on size and fitment: 13” inch rim: Tire: 165/70/13 OR. 175/70/13 14” inch rim: Tire: 175/65/14. OR. 185/60/14 15” inch rim: Tire: 195 /50/15. OR. 205/55/15 Next, i used my 205/55/15 wheel and realized this was too big for my design to fit right. The 13” rim actually came stock in some of these but after i lowered my civic i was afraid i might not be able to install it AND be able to remove my jack after the fact. OR i might scrape on the rim or something sooo i went with the 14” inch rim option. Once i decided on the 14” rim, with a tire mounted on was either gunna be 19.2” x 6.9” OR 18.8” x 7.3” (Diameter of Tire x Width of Tire - depending on tire size) and since i wanted it to fit as low as possible in the trunk i just went with the 175/65/14 tire!👍 That and it was all they had available near me soo i got pretty lucky! I bought the rim on Americas Tires and the tire some random shop. Lol

Does drilling holes in the metal trunk floor make it fail safety certification? We need safety certification from mechanic when selling a car.
@projectgoodspeed Жыл бұрын
@raczyk I’m not sure but my design doesnt require you to drill into the trunk floor.
