OK, that is a brilliant idea! I have been brainstorming with how to get my 12" Sliding mitre saw to integrate into my multi purpose workbench so I could use the whole bench when needed. This is a perfect solution! Thanks for posting

You are amazing as a teacher!!! This was easily explained, the video was, to use your saying, "Spot on", and it made me construct my workbench with the scissor jacks. I have gone so far as to watch this video many times to help me with my project. Thank you!

your plans are very thorough! I already have a 4X8 rolling workbench built so my real focus is on your center piece for the miter saw. Folks should note also the size of your miter saw. Mine is a 12" compound sliding miter and the dimensions in your plans will need some modification for the size however, the concept doesn't change and I don't see that I'll have any issues with that for the size of my saw. I picked up the scissor jack at harbor freight....same one....$36.99 and if you have a 20% coupon, it's naturally even less. Thanks for sharing your idea and how to build it. It's going to free up a lot of space for me, give it a dedicated space with plenty of out feed and, stow it nicely away when not in use!! Thanks once again!

The middle section where the jack and table saw are is what I need to put in my big table. I might try to adjust my table to fit a section like this. very cool design and very easy.

If you secured a stop block at the top of the four runners, you could jack the saw up and firmly press it into the four blocks so you wouldn’t need the carriage bolts. That would prevent any flex since the jack would be under pressure.
@troyl8325

that's a great idea, or even if using carriage bolts, helps for lining up the holes quicker.

Awesome build. Thank you for this. I've been looking for something like this for so long. Never liked the idea of a flip top but could never think of what to use for an " elevator " style without spending a ton of money on hydraulics. Never thought of using a scissor jack. Built it just like you did with a few changes. Used 4 CNC linear rails for the sliding mechanism instead of the 2x4s ( works great, nice and smooth ) and added some drawers and shelves in the open areas.

Thank you for your plans. I used your 'large' workbench plans previously posted as the basis for my first build. Only thing I added to that one (same spacing measurements for the miter saw) was a 'flip top'. Fits a DWS779! I'm sure someone could have done that part better than I, but I wouldn't have gotten that far without your help! I actually thought of the scissor design but wanted to save the space for storage below. (Truth: Mine would not have worked as well having seen yours.)

Good thinking on the hideaway, the idea is cool, IF I'm to design a bench like this, I am thinking of the lift miter base gliding on metal rods with bearings for less friction and easier lift and maybe a dual scissor lift system... need to sleep on this idea now... thanks

I like this idea and loved the way you presented it, I am looking to build a work bench to hold my chop saw and a table saw which is movable. my work shop is only 8' x 12' with benches around the outside and feel it would be better to build something that will move from the wall to the centre where I can walk around it and it holds my tools. a project I am both looking forward to and dreading at the same time and your design here has given me some great idea's. I looked on your site and loved the way you added links to the various pieces of kit like the jack for instance. THANK YOU X

Great idea! Instead of the overhanging bits of the saw platform, I bet some electrical conduit would run smooth in those 2x4 tracks. Since you're pinning it in the raised position anyway, you don't have to rely on them for strength.

How about a removable fence that could be slid into place and secured with a couple of carriage bolts. Remove the fence and drop the carriage bolts into the holes to make the top flush again. Of course the fence would have a T-track in it to make repeated cuts. Would that be possible without too many changes to your current design?? Great video, simple.

this is a wonderful idea, any updates for the feature, a version 2.0? I was thinking that you could put hinges for the top at the back and while the miter saw is raising the base itself can push the top open and when lowering it the gravity will pull the top back down and get it leveled.

I’ve watched two of your videos so far and decided that I will subscribe. You inspire me. I bought power tools a while back but rarely used them. Mostly because all the videos I’ve watched used planers and I didn’t buy one of those. Seems you build without planing and that brought a smile to my face. Thank you!!! How do you come up with your designs? Also was wondering if you ever thought of using something like a foot crank (I’m sure that’s not what it’s called) to lift the miter saw? Something like on a hospital bed? But like the simple system anyway.
