Nothing I would put in my room, but you fullfilled what she wanted in a stunning way! I liked the idea of the creativity overspilling from the beginning and are glad you decided to paint it black and white instead of gold! I'd personally prefere it if the layer underneath it would have been completly mattblack but thats just a tiny detail. And the upholstering turned out so great! :)

This was an absolute thriller, but like any good thriller, I never lost hope. I loved all the elements but they looked disjointed and then WOW!!! you really pulled the piece together in the end. and the Dali-esque stripes coming out of the box were such a nice touch. Thank you for sharing the ups and downs of the process. Creativity isn't linear, and neither is producing art. Very niche and beautifully executed!

So many of these projects, especially in the sped-up TicTok versions, give this impression of "Oh, I just tried this and it came out perfect!" your opening up about struggles in creativity hit home this morning as I am literally in the middle of a creative mistake in sewing, thought I had a brilliant plan to make my pattern work, it seemed so perfect, and have broke for lunch right now because I just realized it isn't going to work and need to figure out how to embrace the mistake and not waste multiple yards of linen fabric. *deep sigh* most people never see it understand the projects that don't go right and having to problem solve a way to make it work. 👍🏼

Your final solution of using the white to link the outside of the box to the inner was correct. The gold was just adding too many colors to the palette and it did not have the vibe you were going after. Kudos for persevering to fulfill your vision.

You know, I would put this in my room. And it doesn't fit my style but I do love it. It reminds me of my childhood. You definitely made something that I fits so well with Eilish style and quirky room and taste. I would even love to have more stripes on the outside too, on those blobds, but this is also nice, like a little surprise when you open it. I think from staring and remaking this project so much you began to see it differently, you began to doubt. It happens to all artists I think, you began to hate what you make if you spend too much time with the piece. I love it and I love that you pushed through despite your doubts it's very inspiring ❣️

Everything was on point. The one thing I think I would have rained back on was gold leafing the whole edge. Bits and pieces would have maybe given a more old world vibe to it. I am glad you changed out the gold painted top piece. The idea of the blob oozing out of the top needed the color to reflect the straight lines inside the box. Meaning they are neat and orderly (straight) inside but get all oozy when spilled over the top. You show your creative frustration but you always are able to nail it. thanks

I have this box too and we'd always used it for a costume bin for my 2 now grown boys. It now sits forgotten in my basement. After watching this I'm thinking it might be nice to give it a little paint job. My style is much tamer than either of yours, but I did love the inside stripe, velvet top and gold leaf on the one you DIY'ed.

So for the tufted look all you have to do is drill holes in the wood where you mark them out. As you place each button you pull the fabric so it's nice and smooth. You won't get that loose middle area that happened to you and yes you would staple as you go. You put one or two staples to hold the fabric and the rest is added as you smooth the fabric. Then you put any type of fabric in the back normal a thin black one to cover it up. If I'm wrong and it was not lose I'm sorry it look that to me on the video
