I use both CG and QB’s. I just washed my wife’s SUV after a trip to Lake Tahoe for a ski trip. The road grime and sand residue just fell off without a contact wash, of course, I followed up with a very easy contact wash. Having the car already protected made it an easy wash. I used DIY Rinseless Wash to release the dirt and then rinsed with water, I then sprayed Rinseless Wash again on the car before my contact wash with Rinseless Wash. This time I used QB’s in the water stream and was amazed how easy it was able to apply this way and being a full-size SUV it only took about 2 minutes max to apply. I then followed up with CG on a small towel and dry. Very quick process and fully protected! Super slick when finished! Love both products, thanks Ivan and Nick for providing us with great products that work and are fun to use!!

Because of Yvan I typically will do a rinseless wash. I love the efficiency and finish with ceramic gloss. I do love the effects of quick beads after a traditional bucket wash. The water reaction is awesome to watch, almost like the water doesn’t know where to go. A great product to look into would be a glass coating. @SovrakhaАй бұрын
@@icebmwpower from my understanding; -apply quick beads post-rinse after a soap wash, then spread/rinse, then dry. -apply ceramic gloss after a Rinseless wash and immediately dry off. Quick beads has an extra rinsing step and is most efficient with a soap wash, ceramic gloss is most efficient with a Rinseless wash. I think that’s how it goes 🤔

I put the 5 year on my vehicle and the 3 year on my wife's. Both are exceptional coatings. I don't want to buy 2 toppers, though... so I'm using Ceramic Gloss on both. Hopefully I'm not killing the graphene effects of the 3 year by using Ceramic Gloss on it. Great stuff guys!!

I'm wondering the same thing. I want the benefits of graphene, but I want the most gloss. Is the 5 year noticeably glossier than the 3 year? I don't care much about longevity. I also wonder how the gloss of the 3 year + Ceramic Gloss compares against the 5 year alone, but like you I don't want to kill the effectiveness of the graphene. My car is white, if that makes a difference.

@@nokibuyo Since this post, I’ve applied the 5 year coating. The gloss is real. I’ve also come to the realization that I overthink things. If you apply the 5 year, regardless if you top with Ceramic Gloss or Quick Beads, you’ll have a gloss monster that sheds water like crazy. As long as you’re not parked under sprinklers, water spots won’t be an issue.

@@DMCnME Thank you! I'm leaning towards the 5 year because I want the most possible gloss. What is your preference between Ceramic Gloss and Quick Beads. And are you doing rinseless? I'm thinking Rinseless + Ceramic Gloss or Incredible Suds + Quick Beads for maintenance.

It cleans everything and for some reason, it makes the truck look different to my eyes. It’s killer. We sometimes have drought restrictions where I live, so rinseless is perfect. I trailer mine and fish on the Great Lakes which is hard sometimes dirty water especially at the launch. Water spots are always an issue especially at the stern and the outboard motor. Rarely am I able to wash the boat at the end of the trip usually night time and the boat is already dry when I get home. Would ceramic coatings help or work vs a boat wax in that application?

As context, I believe I have bought just about every one of your products and finally did a ceramic coat on my wife’s 2017 Macan. I use your products on her car. However, I use the new turtle wax products on my Hydro blue Jeep. It really adds the right amount of darkening to the paint as opposed to both of your products that makes the paint super glossy. Nothing wrong with that, but was wondering if you might be creating a product that darkened the paint while adding some gloss rather than just high gloss.

8/12/24 Gerdy from Jersey here. Can you elaborate a little bit more detail on the part about using quick beads as a synthetic clay towel lubricant. Meaning . . . after c-toweling the panel ( a panel ) I assume one panel at a time , are we rinsing that panel right away ? No concern with even coverage , the c-towel did that part , but how about streaking concerns ? We still would not want the combination of iron remover and quick beads w/ clay towel drying before rinsing correct ? I live in a middle class development where all of us have a so called “2 car garage” . Very few of us actually use the garage for car parking and non of us can afford the overspray from washing a vehicle inside. I use an extra large/ tall pop-up tent when needed & DI water for every aspect of the washing-detailing process. Still heat , wind , humidity has to be taken into account when using iron remover ,quick beads & clay towel together . For me , quick beads presents a little bit of a challenge in the prevention of streaking . However I’m excited to hear about using that product as part of the decon procedure with the added benefit protection. I just want to make sure on the proper steps and techniques needed to prevent streaks . Sorry for the long read. I can’t help it.

You've answered a lot of my questions about the two products, but I still have one concern. I have a Griot's Garage PFM drying towel that I NEVER use for anything but drying the small amount of water left on my cars after a flood rinse. I've always heard/been told that any kind of 'protection product' will clog or otherwise make the drying towel significantly LESS efficient and over time, can ruin the towel. Can you enlighten me on this?
@diydetailofficial5 ай бұрын
Yes, if removing water from the surface a drying aid is necessary, water is a solvent, and doesn’t protect against towel marring. If you’re not over using DIY Detail Quick Beads or DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss, not a problem. To prevent any issues, simply dunk your towel in your wash bucket a few mins when you’re done drying. The surfactants will prevent the ceramic from cross linking.

8-12-24 Gerdy from Jersey. One more question . I like the in-depth data on the two products. Can we do the same for C6 Mist ? Can you reveal its original function ? Meaning I thought that C6-Mist was invented & marketed solely as a drying lubricant that would not have a build up effect when frequently used vs quick beads c-gloss&various other toppers on the market . I understand C6 Mist wasn’t invented to offer same level protections vs c-gloss, q-beads and other toppers used as drying aids, therefore allowing it to be used on a regular basis without the risk of build up . What’s regular? Let’s say a person washes 4 days out of 7. Using a topper as a drying aid would build up over time especially if one likes using multiple brand toppers like ceramic gloss, quick beads, Sudslab Maguires ect ect . When marketers start advertising that a product can be used in many different ways then originally first advertised in order to sell more product, ( np, I get it ) I sometimes get lost or confused as to a product’s original purpose. Such is the case with C6- mist.

I wonder if you can tell me this. I do wash my car weekly. Literally rain or shine. That said, I live in South Florida, and drive the car around 700 miles or more a week. But, the wash process is foam, dwell, rinse, foam, contact wash. I then every couple weeks do the Gloss as a drying agent. I have a 5 year coating on it, but my expectation for the coating is probably 2 years. The car is new, so I haven't decon washed it yet (except before the coating) but I plan on doing that every 3 months followed by Gloss. Is 2 years a fair or realistic expectation? I know you can't give an etched in stone answer, but my expectations are actually low coating wise as the car is exposed to extreme heat, milage and rain forest levels of rain lol.

I am a foam gun guy so I prefer Quick Beads since the contact angle of the the beads is greater and blow dry my cars that are coated 90% of the time. . I will do the Nick method Quick Beads and finish with Ceramic gloss since the gloss is definitely ci greater.

Yvan, just about to grab some Quick Beads - hoping it’ll help with my insane brake dust a bit. I was thinking, does slickness in general mean anything beyond towel marring? I see that many QDs and traditional polymer sealants are slick, while ceramic coatings often are not. I’ve noticed the slick surfaces seem to be more oleophobic and better for resisting dust etc. Is this one pro of the graphene? Was the industry wrong in chasing insane water beading at all costs and not looking at oil contact angles? Hydrophobicity is nice but a lot of contaminants are oily so I’m surprised no one is talking about it. An iPhone screen is slick and very oleophobic out of the box.

Our coatings are very slick for that reason.

Absolutely it's protecting the paint just as a drying aid. Panel Prep first is a way to ramp up durability but not necessary.... especially if you're using QB/Ceramic Gloss as a drying aid after most or every wash

Ceramic Gloss no, spray on and wipe. With Quick Beads, let it dwell for about 30 seconds on clean/wet paint, then distribute it with a hose from the bottom up and do a final rinse to make sure white suds are all gone 👍

Speaking of out of the box, you mentioned that Quick Beads is water activated. Is it possible to spray QB into a damp towel and apply it that way?
@cebasmb8250 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can but you still need to rinse it out if that's helpful
@johnfreeman440 Жыл бұрын
I've seen others use water-activated ceramic sealers on a wet car and spraying the product into a clean, wet microfiber towel or wash pad and spread around the panel manually and rinse after. Seems like that would maximize product efficiency and get a much more even application and enhance.longevity.
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
Yes no need to have the towel damp actually. You can use it the same way you use Ceramic Gloss as a drying aid if you wish!
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
And no need to rinse. It’s why we recommend quick beads as a clay lube for light jobs. You use it with clay towel and then wipe the panel until it’s dry, no rinsing required

No I would follow this process to ceramic coat the vehicle, and then once it’s coated…in subsequent washes you can absolutely just them as drying aid/spray on rinse off. Here’s the coating series we did: kzbin.info/aero/PLD8gYJ2cLWeNJwVAqkPn5ZwrT7nGLQn1s
