It's been a little over a year since I coated my car. Yesterday I used diy detail clay towel and boy ill tell you that's exactly what it needed. I was unaware of how much contamination was in the clear coat. It brought my coating back to how it was at day 2 last year. And the clay towel helped get off very stubborn road tar that came from summer time highway driving. Fantastic products that I can't recommend enough

Very timely video . I did a wash and 2 decons on my Ram Truck yesterday .and today another wipe down with surface preparation . Then put two coats of Gyeon Q2 Mohs 2018 version on the truck an hour a part had enough from the 30 mil bottle to do the Wheel's and the truck bed cover ... Tomorrow I will put a layer of Cure on it .. After reading and watching a few videos I was thinking this was going to be a nightmare . But I was surprised the coating went on easy wipes off after 3 minutes very easily outside temperature is 68 f I borrowed my buddy's garage so I worked inside .a somewhat controlled environment . Looking forward to tomorrow to put the cure to protect the coating while it fully cures Thanks to your channel I'm very confident I can clean and polish anything Thanks again Clive I actually did the application process with a few round aplicaters and found that circular motion worked very well .no arm fatigue.. and maybe used 4 in total with 6 cloths I'm in Winnipeg Canada so I'm getting a head start on winter prep

But then I could not pick the car up because it was raining. I paid around $ 600 dollars for the service and did a great job. Hey Pan! Yet another helpful and informative video! Thanks for posting. At 30:44 (in the video), you asked Ivan for his thoughts on using APC pretreatments on ceramic coated cars before implementing the washing process. He recommended quality APCs over products like "Super Clean." This bummed me out as I have been implementing Super Clean (diluted of course) as my APC pretreatment. Admittedly, I LOVE using Super Clean as it gets the job done and it's VERY affordable. I wash my car once a week as I drive a lot for work and in dusty, dirty, rural areas. I don't want to do any long-term damage to my car, but can Super Clean really be that bad if numerous pro detailers use it (Phil, from Miranda Detailing and Luke Wilson, from Wilson Auto Detailing, to name a few)?

A high spot is an excess amount of coating that hasn’t been leveled. The best way to remove them, is to avoid them in the first place. If you do get one, you can polish it off.

Awesome video Pan and Yvan. I can attest to Yvan's claim that his DIY Detail ceramic coatings have a one-hour cure time. I had applied his 3-year graphene coating to the hood of my car and a storm cloud showered it with water one and a half hours later and the coating stayed intact. This is huge for people who don't have garage access (like me) who want to ceramic coat their vehicle without the concern of the coating getting wet a few hours later. Keep up the great work guys.

@PanTheOrganizer8 ай бұрын
The DIY Detail coatings only require 1 hour of curing time after the application. After that, you can drive off in the elements including rain, no problem. But wait at least 7 days before you wash your car after the application. If you are referring to other coatings, most coatings typically require 24 hours of curing without exposure to rain or water, so check the instructions of the coating you are buying.

Hi! First, welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZbin as we surpassed 950,000 subscribers and we have over 125 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. To answer your question. A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. I explain all of this in this popular video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5jSqqV5Ypp2g8U So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers: Mercedes S 580: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKLCpZmZrNesjKssi=whord2_UEFSg28UW Aston Martin Vantage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXzKkmavj7uHp9E Volvo XC60: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqenc3Wbo82MfKM Tesla Model Y: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naDLnKZurbVohLs Porsche 911 Carrera: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJTOmpysl6ukqZY Mercedes AMG GT63S matte black: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4abq5pnob2pjrssi=oGxoCp8PWt7gTncV Audi Q7: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmirdHWJi9OcsK8 BMW M6 Gran Coupe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp2maqivgL2mbrM BMW M340i: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6W7mX2Elqtje6c Audi RS3: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGWUnnSAm7B3gq8 Golf R: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKOUappqhbx9qc0

have you tried Gyeon Pure Evo? after using other coatings. it is by far the easiest coating I've used and one of the glossiest. I also applied it outside in the early morning without issues. best part is you can coat a whole panel or two and then go back and level without worrying. I didn't polish either as it was a brand new Tesla and had nearly no imperfections. my customer said if I didn't need to polish then don't so we inspected it and only took care of like three scratches. I did wash full decon iron remover , clay, ipa wipe then coated. 👍 whole job took 4 hours

Your next best option is to visit a professional detailer on a monthly basis, or at least every other month, and have them perform a proper maintenance wash during winter months, until it gets nice enough outside where you can take care of your own vehicle. Or, another option is to go to a self-serve car wash, where they have heated wash bays (if there's such a thing near where you live) and bring your own buckets and tools and chemicals to wash your car in their facilities. But if you absolutely want to take your car to a car wash that uses brushes, keep in mind that your paint will inevitably get swirls and scratches. There's no way around that: the friction from the rollers or cloth bristles touching your paint will cause marring, swirls and scratches over time. Also, automatic car washes use very high pH soaps that over extended use could start weakening even the best coatings (as we're reaching limits of chemical resistance when you are talking about pH 12-13). So the coating will have much higher durability compared to a regular wax or sealant, but it likely won't reach the maximum claimed durability from the manufacturer. How long? Nobody can say for sure.

Such a great video, one of many from both your channels. I love the level of detail you share. I would love to foam canon my car at home. Unfortunately in Vancouver BC it's illegal to wash your car in your garage, driveway or street. legal if you are washing over gravel or grass though. Do your shops require water reclamation?

Thanks Randall! In Quebec, there is no water reclamation required, and we can wash our cars in our driveways, thankfully.

When washing the car, what happens when we use a wash and wax shampoo (PH7)? Will it damage the coating or is it that there will be a layer of wax which will then reduce the effect of the coating? What do you mean when you say “…the wax will mask the properties of the better performing coating underneath…”?
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
It will not harm the coating. The wax will perform differently than the coating ( less beading typically).

Hey Pan, I wanted to see your thoughts on stoner paint 5 yr ceramic coating and also if you plan on retesting the cerakote pro ceramic since it just came back out after it failed for many people including you. My plan is to apply the stoner one to my wife’s car and the cerakote pro one to my truck. The thing I like about the cerakote is it says to top it with their paint sealant, the one that is 17$ at Walmart. This was the first paint sealant I used when switching from wax after watching many of your videos and I was amazed by it. I just ordered the stoner 5 yr off of amazon and the cerakote pro from cerakotes site. They have both come in and I am super excited. Currently I have the turtle wax flex graphene on my truck and am super happy with it. Over the last year I have started my professional detailing business and thanks to you and other KZbinr detailers such as diy detail, hunters mobile detailing, detail geek, I have been successful this far. My only issue is being so ocd that I spend too much time on each car but I also do it because that’s where my heart is. Thanks for all the videos and learning content. You and Yvan are both great at what you do. Look forward to seeing what you think about the cerakote pro ceramic coming back out and if you plan on testing it again. Thanks, Nolan from Nolansharpening.com.

Thanks Pan for the input. I will keep an eye out for your updated video on cerakote pro in the future. The diy detail I love there products but recently prices have gotten heavy although for a good quality product and a coating that can last 8 years 160$ is definitely reasonable. I use my vehicles a lot for testing products so probably won’t put the diy detail 8 year on them but am happy that I can offer it to my customers and have confidence in it. Thanks again for all you do. You guys have done so much to help me along my detailing journey!

Hello Pan, I've run in to a problem that I can not seem to figure out, hopefully you can help me: We applied the Gyeon Synchro EVO coating to my car on Saturday 21st of October. The application went smoothly and everything was done according to the instructions, we checked the paint several times for any errors but no results. Today (2 days after the application) several high spots appeared that we had not previously noticed during several checks, our question now is whether you know what causes this and whether/how it can be solved. There was a 70 minute difference between the 2 coat layers and the temperature was ±14 C during application. As far as I understand from your video, We can fix it with a light polish and light pad? Kinds regards.
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Hard to say as I don't have enough details on how you applied or how things can have gone wrong plus I wasn't there to observe the application. Troubleshooting these things at a distance is near impossible. A few notes though. Apply the 1st layer of MOHS, wait 1 hour, then apply the 2nd layer of MOHS. After the final layer of MOHS, you wait 1 hour and apply a thick layer of Skin. After all that is done, they recommend letting the vehicle in a dry place untouched for at least 12 hours, 24 hours being even better. No exposure to rain or water during the curing time. And wait 14 days before washing the car. Ideally, you'd be working in temperatures of 20C or as close to that as possible. 14C is getting close to the bare minimum which is 10C for applying coatings, so you were on the cooler side of things, meaning it takes longer for the coating to flash (warmer and more humid temps lead to quicker flashing times). Now at this point, the only way to remove the high spots will be to machine polish. But that also means the coating will be removed. Once polishing is done, you'll have to use Gyeon Prep again to wipe the surface free of polishing oils, and then reapply the entire coating system. Or reach out to Gyeon and see if they can help you troubleshoot, as they are more used to helping their customers on specific issues like yours.

@PanTheOrganizer5 ай бұрын
ALWAYS make sure to fully wash, decontaminate, and machine polish paint before applying a coating, as machine polishing is the only way to ensure 100% removal of any previous protection. And removing old protection is crucial in order to ensure that you get a proper bonding of the coating to the clear coat. Also, after polishing, make sure you spray a paint prep spray and wipe to remove polishing oils. See my tutorial on how to properly apply a ceramic coating here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaK0iomgraukgZI

So in order to apply a ceramic coating, I need to remove all the coatings I have out onto my car? I hesitate to do that because my garage queen is really beautiful. Am I understanding correctly that it is pretty pointless to apply a Graphene ceramic coat, I like Adams products, over the other coatings I have in place ? I do have a strip product from Adams, would that do the trick to remove without machine polishing?
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
Correct. Before applying a true coating in a glass bottle, you have to remove any previous protection as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. And the only way to ensure 100% removal of any previous protection is by machine polishing. Welcome to my channel. I live alongside the Pacific In Baja, Mexico....about 100 feet from the 'high tide line". We get a LOT of "salt air" and sometimes salt spray. It's a brutal atmosphere for any type of unprotected metal. I have a black Acura SUV which I'm very protective of. I had been using McGuire's "Gold Plus" paste wax and having it hand washed every week with a microfiber mitt. All was well. About 1 year ago, I tried a ceramic coating by "NexGen". It went on ok and looked really good. Problem came with subsequent washes. I should also say that overnight, we get a sort of "dew" but mixed with salt. It leaves a grey haze when it dries (from the salt I'd guess). When I got the car washed and they dried the car with microfiber towels, it left a stubborn greyish residue??? It was VERY difficult to remove. I finally reverted to using the McGuire's paste wax out of pure frustration. Any tips or ideas? Thanks!

With heavy mineral content a wax deals with it better. in your case, coating on the paint for protection, and then add wax over it.

As much as I support the idea and use of ceramic coatings, we can not deny that the manufactures are the ones who do not elaborate on the claims and research of their products, which results in videos like these. BTW love your videos Pan 😊💯 Nice collab with DIY! Without a doubt ceramic coatings are one of the most controversial subjects in our industry with wild claims, community hot takes, and just an overwhelming amount of information from credible and noncredible sources each throwing arguments with no concrete/constructive evidence to support the claim. I believe a lot of this could have been avoided if the brands could just elaborate and be transparent with the claims of their products. Perhaps show their field research and other testing methods to see how those claims came forth? "How do we know it lasts 8 years?" - You show the research that went into it "Is it safe to apply in direct sunlight?" - You show the research that went into it "How do we know it prevents water spots?" - You show the research that went into it "Does it prevent swirls?" - You show the research that went into it It all just comes down to various forms of hard evidence supporting the claim, not just saying "because I know" or "because the brand says so" or, my favorite, "well they said it works." Showing constructive evidence will prevent a lot of confusion in the industry that we see time and time again with new and revised products coming out. I mean we saw what happened to ONR, Bead Maker, iK Pump Sprayer, and pretty much every coating out there. I like to dig deep in the rabbit hole and know the what, how, and why, not what it "Could be." I prefer to see the truth as our words and opinions as content creators, including myself, weigh heavily as our audiences depend on us to do that research. Would love to see your take on this Pan as someone like yourself who has experience and connections to these brands/manufacturers 😎👍 Do you have an idea on how this confusion and mystifying of products can be addressed for the community? 🤔 Keep up the work Pan! 💯💯📸📸✨✨Glad to support you champ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
