This video combines the original making of 1 gallon of strawberry wine with the wine tasting 13-months later.
Note: I am not a professional winemaker. I hold no responsibility if the results of your winemaking causes injury or ill health. This is as natural (where possible) winemaking channel. The wines made on this channel do not use sulfites. You may use them and\or yeast nutrients and or energizers if that is how you prefer to make your wine/mead. This channel uses pasteurization.
During the first 3 days give your musk a good stir, and to break up the fruit cap that will form if you are not using straining bags. Rack into secondary after 5 - 7 days, and continue to rack every 4-6 weeks until clear. Degas, back sweeten, bottle let age for at least 12 months total.

I made your first strawberry wine recipe, then I messed it up by trying to drink it way too early. I was really new to brewing. I did this video in a mead version instead, and it's great!! Keep the content coming!

I put a strawberry patch in my garden last summer and it's going to be a beautiful harvest this year! I've been putting them all in freezer bags so far, and as soon as I have enough I'll be making them into strawberry mead. Thanks for another great video!

Hi I really appreciate your videos... Would like to see a grape wine done. My question is why not sulphite the fruit?

See: kzbin.info/aero/PLbtJa2CkkSCT8HUxnEer-nWUKzmqlWhMR Three reasons. 1) They don't sell potassium metabisulfite at the grocery store. 2.) This channel tries to be as natural as possible (few exceptions aside). 3.) Sulfites generally give me a headache.

The bags might be making too much work. I found that a blender turns the strawberries into liquid in no time. Not even much pulp left to strain.

The chopped up seeds will add bitterness to the wine.

@@DIYFermentation A blender doesn't really chop up the seeds on strawberries the way you would expect. The tiny things that look like seeds are the actual fruit (a stone fruit like cherries or peaches but TINY) and the pit inside of that is so small and so hard that the blender blades don't cut them that much. It loosens them so they can eventually be strained out. I used a blender earlier to make jam (My mother can't eat seeds so I had to strain them out and the blender turned out to be a lot easier than crushing them.) There was no noticeable seed bitterness. I just started a 3.5 gallon batch of blended strawberry wine. The juice tastes good, but it is very pulpy and has noticeable, but intact seeds. Most of the pulp is floating. I'll have to skim it before it goes into the secondary, and siphon it through a strainer to get the seeds. I started the batch after my comment so I do take back what I said about not needing a strainer bag. For this batch it is too late for the strainer bag, so I'll have better efficiency but also a bigger mess. I'll know in a few months how it turned out.

@@pebbles4992 Right now it is in the carboy. I overshot the sugar a little at the start, so it's a 14% dessert wine, but It smells and tastes delicious (I sampled with a turkey baster). There are a lot of "seeds" at the bottom of the carboy. The blender knocked them loose but did not shred them so I probably will have to strain them next racking. I'm not that thrilled about that amount of handling and oxygen at this stage, so I may have to give it some campden tablets when I do that- either that or a probiotic solution- add a little juice to wake the yeast back up and let them scavenge the oxygen I will inevitably introduce. I probably should have strained earlier while it was still churning, but not a big deal, the seeds are just a little extra sediment at this point.

Finally bottled it. With each racking I poured, saved (and drank) the sediment-filled bottom layer below the siphon and even with the trub it was still tasty. In all but the last bottle siphoned the wine is crystal clear. The last bottle is a little cloudy. I'll probably drink that bottle first, let the other bottles age, and save them for showing off.
