Great tutorial, Travis! Is it necessary to use gearboxes on the servos? The gearboxes add backslash to the motion unless they are the zero backslash type which are more expensive. Does the software incorporate backslash compensation?
@diyfiberlaser11 күн бұрын
They may not be necessary, yes the software has backlash compensation

would it make sense to tune the steppers with a tube in the chuck for length and rotation axes? or is the general advice to tune without it? I guess it'd be similar to tuning the spindle on a lathe

That is a good point! I think in my case, I will only be cutting short and fairly lightweight tube, so it probably wouldn’t make much of a difference, but if I were going to be cutting longer, heavier tube, I would definitely retune it with the stock in place.

I just purchased a 6kw fiber laser kit from skyfire. They are great. While i plan my build, do you have any idea how tight radius i can have my dragchains if i run the fibe in them.

The optical cables on the sources I’ve used have a 200mm minimum bend radius

😉Disappointing that you don't have "a link in the description" for the Dymo Rhino 4200 label printer that prints to heat shrink tubing...😉
