Excellent craftmanship, well thought out . I built one 16 X 12 .Mine was for more of a work shop. Still nice size, BUT ,after the tables were built and tools brought in , wished I'd built it alot larger. Even 16 X 24 .No room to store 48" lawn mower .

I completely understand. I think I will always want a bigger shed or workshop :) We built the biggest shed we could build without needing to mess with permits. It's also the biggest shed we could put in the area we had available. If we run out of room we'll sell some stuff. LOL

Great video, my only concern is rot and wind. I was planning to build mine on a concrete pad to get it off the ground. The second thing is storms, where I live high winds have lifted unsecured sheds like yours and deposited them on the street.

I don't mean to be that guy however.... I wouldn't set it directly on the ground treated lumber or not. Also that Vapor Barrier is just going to trap mouster under the frame and grow tons of black mold also critters are going to biuld and nest under that. Over all great job. I would have did the floor differently is all. 👍🏻 BUT it Looks good once again.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Concrete, masonry blocks or some product standard for building, to elevate lumber above the soil at least 6"-8" for insect control future leveling, moisture and adequate ventilation among other things. Not saying it's a bad job. Just saying...

Just needs to be off the ground by couple inches an needs to use water resistance studs on the ground plat form for it won’t get damaged with the water in the years, but other than that it’s a great build

I have a question will your shed foundation hold up for a long time without the concrete or do you need to even pour concrete for the way you're doing it?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 2 жыл бұрын
We used treated lumber for the shed floor / foundation and it's on a bed of gravel for good drainage. We also have good venting under the shed floor to provide air flow under the shed. In addition to all of that, we live in a "high desert" environment so we don't have a lot of moisture where we live. Moisture is what rots wood. We believe this floor will last many many years without an issue of rot. All these factors will determine if a concrete floor is better for your situation.

you can use solid 4" blocks too, It will allow ventilation underneath. they are pretty stable and wont move.

7:13 What did you put to join the top and bottom outside shell? (blue strip) 9:25 did you repeat a DIY truss on the outside of the wall with same wood also? - Did you just paint the fascia or did you do aluminum? The corner of the building. What type and size of trim board did you use out here? 8:33 did you do a roof vent the whole length or just 4ft in the center? Perfect video, just needs a little more parts list.

Awesome build! I’m guessing you don’t have wasps there? Leaving the soffit open like that seems like a risk.

Thanks Josh! Oh yes we have a lot of wasps here. I completely agree with you on the open soffits. That is one of my next projects before spring arrives. I'm going to use metal window screen to fabricate some soffit vents on this shed.

i love this but have questions about the foundation why did you dig up ground and just cover it back up and if you wanted windows do you make them after the build? how do you add electricity for lighting
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I dug a trench to fill with gravel under each skid. This will help wick away water from the foundation skids. You can install windows at any time but the best time is while you are building the shed. There are many options for installing electricity and lighting. I'm using an off grid solar power system for my build. You can see my "Off Grid Workshop Build" videos in the playlist link below. I have some videos on solar power and off grid lighting in this playlist. kzbin.info/aero/PLC_QVs9y_q3sAMyeyEhlJyCNSbfrvDSaq

Hope you sealed your soffit up with something to keep all the critters out the vents ,should be on the roof. No worries metal screen can be used on soffit if installed 😉 properly
