Jim, thank you!! I have an above ground pool EXACTLY like yours, (even the same liner-LOL). My pool person just quit on me so I need to learn how to take care of it. I have 2 robots to clean the bottom but also one to skim the water on top that gets rid of floating debris and bugs. I'll keep watching.

I've been having a lot of algae lines on my pool floor, even with a pool cleaning company. so I know there's some addition care that the pool needs I'm not getting. an hour after cleaning, the algae shows up! Your video will help. me maintain a bit I believe.

That make 2 of us... I just open the pool for the season, the "pool company" came and remove the tarp put a lot of things (chemicals) that i don't know. They left the filter on but the skimmer was closed so nothing happened. this is what I've done so far and the results. 1. Left the filter on to give movement to the water 2.. Put the skimmer to work 3. cleaned the top of the water 4. cleaned skimmer basket 5. cleaned the pump basket 6. watched this video to understand chemistry. Kudos to @DIYJIM for helping us 7 Water is still cloudy 8. today im going to vacuum the pool and clean all the baskets again... then Im going to test the water. Ill keep all of you posted. hopefully all will be ok for Saturday. Please let me know if i need to do something else

Water is clear, but chlorine reading very low. All and ph are good. Pool places tell me I have a CHLORINE Lock. This year I’ve been using the skimmer lids and hosing off every day. I got a new Dolphin this season . It works great. I opened May 30th and I’ve shocked pool twice. Last one was 2 weeks ago. I have an ingrown Grecian pool, close to 30,000 gallons.

Love your tutorial, I am first time pool owner, my pool is 27’ 18,000 gallons of water. I do exactly the same thing you do, but I didn’t know I could use banking soda. Also I didn’t know you could use a vacuum like the one you use, because of the liner. I have a creepy crawler, my pool water lasts only 2-3 days clear ☹️ I don’t what I am doing wrong. If you can please help!!

Does your pump give you a pressure reading on low speed.I have 0 pressure on my low speed but if I put it on high I have about 8 psi.But the water coming out the return is strong.And I did check the gauge.
@DIYJIM4 ай бұрын
Those gauges are junk they don’t last. I just go by the pressure of the water going into the pool. Hope this helps

I have a pool slightly bigger than this. 2nd year with it. It was cloudy all summer last year. Opened it this year and it was clean and clear the first 30 days. Now it's back to cloudy. I've learned a lot, my numbers are all good except alkalinity is at 170 and coming down. I've used a phosphate remover. Replaced sand in filter and it still won't clear up. I've used a clarifier and everything in between. No one can tell me why it won't clear up. If i can't figure it out, this will be the last summer i waste any more time or money on the pool and i will tear it out. 🤬
@frankinromeo57275 ай бұрын
I feel your pain. Patience is key. There are a lot of variables why our pools do that. I listened to my hippie friend. He told me drown the pool with chlorine. Lol. My pool is crystal clear now. Lol
