This really looks surprisingly good! Also still so impressed with the painted cupboards!!!!Also like the matte paper! Thank you for sharing the struggles - sometimes people make it look so easy. I have to say that I usually dont like "fake" surfaces, but the granit looks a little bit like it hast different colours (the part on the wall and the countertop seem to be a little bit different) and i think that would also bother me. Tip for tumeric/curry staines: They are in fact light sensitiv, so the should fade overt time until they vanish. If it is something like a cutting board, etc, you can speed the processe up by putting the item into sunlight.

YES I'm surprised you caught that! I've had so many friends over and when I would tell them the granite table and backsplash don't match they'd say it's not that noticeable! When we moved in the owners had it put in that way to save money thinking it wouldn't be so noticeable. Either way the color on the granite just always looked dirty to me! Super excited to clean my kitchen now. We'll see how long it lasts :D hopefully a while. WOW that's good to know I'll keep that in mind next time I stain something with turmeric. Thanks :D

Super helpful tutorial. And it came out beautifully. I’ve literally been wanting to try this for yearsssssssss. But, was just too scared to bite the bullet. I’ve even seen so many tutorials, but NONE as in depth or as thorough as this video. Thanks for the wear test ahead of the drop and the added tidbits about the blow dryer method vs a heat gun. Everything about how you guys do things really resonates with me. I’m totally convinced and excited to do it now 🥰🤗👏🏾

AWE YAY! GIRRL you should try it! Honestly I felt exactly like you jumping into this DIY had the contact paper sitting around for a while LOL before I finally got the courage to do this! I even bought a few different styles. Ended up picking this one because it was the BEST quality. Other ones felt so thin. We loved how thick this one was. I watched a bunch of videos too but I think some of them actually gave us more trouble while installing. we learned as we went I guess. Happy to hear this was in depth :D I try to always share as much as I can.

@@diylilyardor3435 Yes, for sure this is by far the best one I’ve seen. And I’m not just saying that because I’m partial. Lol I forgot to mention the part about getting the larger roll, so you can guarantee you’ll have enough and it all be one color. 🙌🏾🫶🏽 I’m telling you… Your work and attention to detail is literally EVERYTHING! Even in the mistakes… Some things just don’t work out how we wanted or thought they might! 🤷🏽♀️ So, you pivot and try something else…. And look at the end result… a beautiful kitchen! What a change. It looks awesome. I've got my peep and stick marble looking paper. I'm definitely doing it. My home is 60 years old and original. The countertops were canary yellow. Just imagine. It was so ugly. I used a countertop granite system about 10 years ago and it has done well but it so dark. I really dislike it so I'm going light and bright too. Thank you for the motivation!

Back in the day - I used to apply something very similar -and very sticky to windows as vinyl advertising. it was meant to be almost permanent. I found that wetting the surface with soapy water enabled the vinyl to be positioned and slid around really easy. Somehow, as if by magic the soapy water completely dries out and the vinyl sticks to the surface for ever !! try it it also enables you to completely smooth out the vinyl and get rid of any air bubbles completely.

Your testing covered all of the bases. Thanks! Your results look great. I have recovered my countertops with contact paper. It seemed to last about 3 yrs or a little more before it began to crack. Another thing. In the area where I wiped the most the pattern began to fade a lot. It was a granite pattern and like your original countertop it was hard to tell if I wiped all of the crumbs. I'd like to try marble like you used.

You did a great job of showing how to do this. I have a similar project in mind. Although I understand that you didn't like to color, I do have to say that the idea of covering up a solid granite countertop with a plastic/vinyl artificial film is kind of a shocker to me! Granite countertops are really the gold standard when it comes to genuine mineral materials... They cost thousands... How does the new surface hold up to knife cuts?

SO far doing great. some areas have tiny scabs from stuff falling on it. Like a sharp knife dropped or heavy metal objects. All the edges are doing great. No bubbling or peeling! The stains come out great with white eraser. Also learned that tumeric/carrot stains fade away eventually because of sunlight if the white eraser doesn't get them. Would I do this again! HECK YES! We have wooden boards I always keep along the wall if I ever need to put anything hot on it.

First of all, thanks for sharing, very helpful! I see you are using separate sheets for the backsplash and the countertop, but not sure if this is because of not having enough size. So, if the width of my paper is big enough, do you think it is a good idea just to start from the backsplash with one single sheet and continue all the way to the edge of the countertop? Do you think the inner corner will later start having bubbles?
@diylilyardor34352 ай бұрын
@@Optimist_Insan it’s too hard to apply. Once it sticks on it’s hard to remove. That’s why we apply them separate to minimize bubbles and application is easier this way. I’m pretty sure we tried it that way and it was too hard. I have slits from knife cuts right now that Have been there for months I’m constantly soaking the tables and wiping and water hasn’t cause it too bubbles up and start pulling up at all. So far the edges in the corners are doing every well. The tape is every strong. I’m glad you found this video helpful.

Straight section? Apply to front edge of counter first. Work it back to the backsplash. Go up the backsplash, finish at the top edge of the backsplash. All one piece that way.
