With regards to getting home and/or evacuating - I have ordanance survey maps and a compass in my car. If the sat nav fails, I have a backup navigation method. I have also gone for drives to areas I have never been to, and then worked back home using the maps to practice. This is worth doing; as before I got the maps - I have gotten into situations where the roads I know have been unexpectedly closed and I have found myself diverted down back roads in the countryside with no GPS or phone signal at dusk with not much petrol in the tank. Horrible feeling being lost - do yourself a favour and don't let it happen to you.

I have a basic three step approach to determining if we have been hit with an EMP. 1. The lights go out unexpectedly: 2. Check your phone, If it's not working; 3. Check if your vehicles start. If they do not, there's a very good chance there was an EMP given all of these electrical/electronic devices have suddenly and simultaneously stopped working.

EMP will not affect your vehicle. It takes a long antenna to accept an EMP. The electrical grid is for sure at risk, but small appliances, vehicles, and the like will not burn out from an EMP.

Most vehicles are safe from an EMP, most not all but most. If the electronic device you are relying upon has an LCD or a UI to be able to access modes and functionality you better make sure it is un a faraday cage. Small appliances like a CPAP machine are relatively safe because they do not have a UI to them or are still using analog switches. Things like a solar generator that have the digital display and are reliant upon a small processor to track voltage regulation and such are definitely not. Faraday cage easy to make, test and find info or instructions@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218

Very good video. One more tip: I have written everything down that I need to think of when SHTF. And that is a lot! I wrote it down, not for myself, but for my future housemates (children, grandchildren). When I take them in, they have to be thorougly instructed and trained. Without documentation, you do not know where to start and you forget things. Moreover, it is too much to take in at once.

For chest freezers, placing 2 or 3 folded blankets on top of the freezer, covering the entire surface within a couple hours of the power going out can increase the time before things start to melt. We managed to keep the contents of our very full freezer frozen for 4.5 days without power during a September snowstorm in 2014. While it may not help with a major EMP, it can certainly help with shorter emergencies.

I had a certified plumber come out to our house yesterday to install a back flow valve in our sewage clean out pipe so that no sewage would enter our house if the situation got that bad. Since we live on a hill, he was honest and said that although he'd love to charge me $1,800.00 to install it, we really didn't need one. He said the houses at the bottom of the hill need one. He looked at our street and said the sewage will force the lid off the manhole cover and will flow downhill towards the houses down there. There really wasn't any way it would ever flow back into our house. I also asked him about the inflatable ball that can be inserted in the sewage clean out pipe and he said by the time you realize you need it, it will be too late and sewage will already be in your house. I absolutely loved this video and got so much useful information from it. THANK YOU!!!

It’s possible, but would probably depend on several factors. A worst case scenario would be a house right under the EMP with bad wiring inside the house and poorly maintained utility equipment outside. If it’s dry outside, that wouldn’t help either of sparks start dropping from lines or transformers onto dead grass.

It should be said (I missed it if it was) no one really knows what an EMP will do to everything, of course the grid or parts of it will likely go down, but there is no telling what it will do to modern cell phones, cars, generators and other medium to small electronics like fridges. For all we know they will be completely unharmed, or everything with the simplest circuit board could be fried, we just don't know for sure. But these are some good steps regardless.

It seems to me that the best thing to do post EMP is to organize local neighborhoods and help each other survive. Living in a post electronic world will seem tough, but doable if we stay calm and work together, pooling our resources and abilities. Neighborhood associations will have a whole new meaning.

That may be easier said than done, a lot of people will be in a mad panic & they will get dangerous. Some neighbourhoods might be more in control, but others will be a living nightmare with gangs doing home invasions & looting. Regardless, it's scary stuff.

If your children are at school, their first plan , in an emergency is to put the children on school busses and take them to a central location for parents to pick them up. We are currently still without power and Upstate, South Carolina. They don’t expect power back in my area until Friday at the minimum. With that being said there isn’t too many rich people in my area out of about 50 houses only to have generators and you could hear them running at night and they are the only houses that have lights on. Now I’m not gonna rob nobody and I’m not on drugs and I have all that I need for me and my children. But a lot of the people in my area will steal your gas can just because and I’ve caught many of them doing that just to me even when the lights were on during normal occasions. theft has skyrocketed in the past few days and I’m surprised them rich. Haven’t lost their generators yet.

If you are stuck in a city or suburb, depending on the situation that caused the EMP, follow the 12/24 rule. Take 12 hours to gather up necessary resources and be gone from that area by the 24 hour mark. The first 12 hours will be your best chance to get around and stock up on supplies as most people will be scratching thier heads trying to "figure out" what's happened. Around hour 12 is when some will start to get wise and start to the situation, but will remain hopeful that the power is still going to be restored. Things will start to degrade and by the 24 hour mark people will go into full panic mode. The second the grid goes down, law and order will be a thing of the past, but it will take a little while for the average Joe to figure that out.. it's best to be as far away from a populated area as you can before they do.

Wow J.R. I think that was your most helpful video yet, thank you! I am going to watch it again to make sure I absorbed everything. Also completely irrelevant to the video, I know, but that is a great shirt- good color for you. 😂

So, how do you block the main drain line?
@peteric100
@peteric100 7 ай бұрын
You can have a backflow preventer valve installed or as a last resort, you can pour a bag of concrete mix into your clean out. Fixing that later would certainly be preferable to having your home floodedwith sewage.

There was a young man out of MO who did earthquakes.. Dutchsinse. I followed him for a long time till something changed with his channel. He said one of the best places to go was a Campground. I liked his idea. In the Ozarks there are many good campgrounds. I still think you need to have a plan to flee. Need to check places before something happens. Get your camping gear ready.

The best general prepper advice I've seen was a family that went "off grid" one weekend a month. The mental stress of a total expected change can be devastating. If you've practiced it, the stress is almost nonexistent.

Great video, thankyou for the reality check. I am in my 50s live in New Zealand but am watching in horror as i see the world or middle east sliding into another war, in many ways humans are still damm primitive. My hope is that if some of us survive, we evolve beyond our base instincts of hate, greed, ego self-interested entitlement. But thats later, right now have to prepare to survive, its gonna happen, take care all, please lord help us.
