9:36 is the MOST critical step in this video if you do not have the Walbro W metering lever height checking tool (tool that looks like a W). If you don’t have the tool, just do exactly what is shown in the video. Make sure the lever is flush with the two little ridges on either side of it. For WA and WT carbs

Thank you for the tutorial! My Stihl 026 chainsaw has a Walbro wt-194 carb. It's very similar to the one in your saw. I'm guessing that's an old Craftsman saw, from back when Sears/Craftsman equipment was at the top of the food chain on their power tools.... After doing the carb rebuild, empty the tank. And add fresh ethanol free fuel, a new fuel filter, and clean out the fuel tank vent. Then cross your fingers and start her up....

thanks friend. glad I found this. I didn't realise the kit covered so many carburetors and might have used a slightly different fuel pump diaphragm first time I tried and the saw wouldn't idle. After watching your guide, I took the adjustment high/low screws out for cleaning and whilst there filed slots into them so I can now make adjustments with a flathead screwdriver, because I don't have the special tool. All round awesome.

I just watched your video and rebuilt my carburetor. I am having problems with getting my blower to run. It starts using starting fluid and runs like 20 seconds and then dies. Do you have any ideal what the problem is. To me, it doesn't seem like its getting fuel but I have no ideal why. Looking at the fuel line, it doesn't seem like it is a solid line of fuel going to the carburetor. It looks like it has breaks in it .Any suggestions what the problem is? Thanks in advance

I spend over $16 on a Walbro rebuild kit and check valve. The carb continues to fill the crankcase of my saw with fuel even with both of the adjustment needles turned all the way in. The internal check valves can go bad. They aren't easily serviceable and are not included in the rebuild kit. The metering needle seat can also wear out and isn't replaceable. If you disassemble the carb and find any bad gaskets or diaphrams you're better off saving your time, money & aggravation by scrapping it and buying a new carb. If the gaskets and diaphrams are good, clean the carb, try it again on the saw & pitch it if it doesn't work.

Brand new husqvarna brush cutter 345FR 800$ and the POS carb floods the machine. I turned the screws in all the way and still floods. Its spotting a ton of gas out. I bought a new carb, but want to fix the broken (new original). What could it be?

@@bradspaugh9827 There is certainly more than one reason a diaphragm carb can flood. If you go onto the ZAMA website, there is a troubleshooting list in their tech guide that lists all the possible causes. A common one is a small bit of trash holding the fuel needle open constantly or the metering lever diaphragm has been installed wrong in the carburetor.

Hello, where did you get the little damping tool you used on the screen? My motor cuts off at idle, runs rough at mid throttle but sounds pretty good at full power. It's also blowing more smoke than normal. Hoping this rebuild will fix the problem! Thanks

Those Hi Lo adjusting screws on my carb have a tamper proof component fixed. so cant give it a thorough clean. Might just have to bin it.

You can cut them off. They are nylon. Once they are off, you can properly adjust your Factory-set LEAN carburetor to run the way you want.

Tip: The primer bulb does NOT push fuel into the engine at all. It pulls fresh fuel from the fuel tank into the carburetor and pushed old fuel and air in the carb BACK into the fuel tank. This is true whether the bulb is mounted on top of the carburetor or not on these diaphragm carbs.

The carb isn't pumping fuel or it could be dirty in the screen inside the carb rebuild kits are cheap and it's not hard to take it apart and clean it up just don't hit the diaphragms with carb cleaner it will dry them up

My kit came with three gaskets. One blue, one black, and one beige and textured like yours. What is the difference besides the holes?

Those are not true gaskets. They are actually the fuel pump diaphragms for these carbs. The blue one is made of mylar...like a drum head. The beige one is made of teflon. The black textured one could be made of butyl rubber and will pump the most fuel.

Why does the manual say for starts to bring out both the low and high valve pins about 1 to 1-1/2 turns? Both mine were 1-1/2 turns yet you have it set high side at 1-1/3 turns and the low side at 2-1/3 sides. Shouldn't they both be about the same?

That means mine is running richer at idle. i could reduce the low side turns and lower the idle RPM.

Normally, they are about the same, but do NOT have to be. Many folks tweak their carbs to accelerate more quickly and/or not overspeed at high rpm.

Take your muffler off and take out your plug look in the exhaust port on the cylinder move your piston by pulling the starter rope slowly and look for scoring or scratches on the piston you're rings could be toast another thing it can be is if you have your fuel lines on backwards it can flood out your engine but my guess is that the piston or rings are the problem

It is superdelicate and tampering with it will most certainly cause You grief.Reinstalling it with a drift, backside of a drillbit is useable as "Donyboy73 points out.

Grrr! Metering diaphragm and fuel pump good. I'd say some jelly from water and untreated fuel. I have done thousands of these wt's, not to mention every single other brand small engine carburetor that has probably ever existed. From pulse to double barrel v twins to very rare anymore Tecumseh v twins with the dual plastic carbs. And I'm not talking bowl replacement kits, 3 componants ever really needed for dem. Love mikunis though, best carbs out there. Old bowl style Tecumseh is the most difficult. IF you really can properly do an old bowl Tecumseh, not the ones with the emulsion tube o rings either, that is when carburetor madness sets in.

I agree 100%! I've got an old Craftsman commercial walk behind edger with a Tecumseh 3.5hp motor. My dad let it sit with gas with ethanol in it for 2yrs. (Yes, he did) The bowl was all rusted out. So I tried to find a new carb, and they dont make them anymore. So I ordered a Chinese fleabay carb, and the throttle and choke are in a different orientation. Grrrr! So I tried using the new fleabay carb parts to rebuild the Tecumseh carb. Craziest carb I've ever worked on!!! And, of course that idea was a no go... So, I'm going to try and rig up the choke and throttle with a paper clip to the fleabay carb. If that doesn't do the trick, she's heading to the dump...

Be careful using carburetor cleaner spray on these small diaphragm carbs. Strong solvents can and will swell up the check valves that you do not see in the Low and High speed circuits; rendering the carb useless. It also can affect the check valve in the brass main nozzle of the carburetor, again making the carb useless. Your best bet is to NOT use any strong solvents on these when stripping and cleaning them. I like to use WD-40 to float away dirt and loose debris.

Same goes for blasting with high pressure air. The check valves can be damaged. On some, they'll blow out of the carb body and be gone forever. Been there, done that.
