OK, the last 2 months i was on a REHA and i played the first time in my life in front of some people. My Setup was: the tiny Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200 and a JBL Flip Essential. Hell, that was enough cause nobody expected that they can hear some House on the balkony. And i learned the most important lesson....nobody cares about the equipment and the skill too much. They just wanted to hear some good music. And i loved it to hear from them, that i played some good tracks. So, we had some good time there. :-) (and now everybody can stop laughing...hihi)

Glad that you, as one of the very few, mention the importance of a setup with a decent soundcard. The difference is huge, even in the higher end of the market. I switched from Denon (X1800/SC5000) to Pioneer (V10/CDJ3000) and the difference in sound quality between these brands just blew me away (but hey, at 3x the price, I also kinda expected that).

Love the channel! I use the Pioneer DDJ-1000. I didn't have the 4-6k for the actual club set up and the 1000 is as close as you can get to the club set up on a controller. So, I feel like I am at least getting used to a lay out that is similar to the club. My next purchase is prob the CDJ 3000, which I will link to the 1000 and use to get more familiar with the club players (even though I doubt that most clubs have the 3000's yet). I also have the Prime 4 but I like the 1000 better, it is more intuitive for my style.

For my home set up which I use for house parties is the DDJ 400s which I connect to my phone with the DJay app. I would use recordbox but I have dreadful eyesight so I can barely use a laptop for mixing unless I plan my sets. Then for my speZaker I use the JBL Pulse, it’s got great sound and flashes with the music which I absolutely love! I’m tempted to get a second one to use as a stereo set up since u can connect them together wirelessly with the JBL app. Including the wires and my headphones this set up cost me £350 which isn’t bad and works amazing for the parties with my mates that I do.

Hi, another option to get more headroom from a controller is to run it thru another device, like a mixer. I use the soundcard from the Mac (good enough quality wise, as with Apple products) thru a 2nd hand Numark mixer, that gives me the opportunity to play additional inputs, as well as a high quality Mic input. Also, my system, which was all 2nd hand, includes mixer in flightcase, 3 ch, all in one speaker system (2 sats on stands, and 15 inch sub/amp unit) 2 scanner lights, 2 moons, and a floor stand scanner, £250 all in, ebay, local ads etc.... done many 50-75 people discos, weddings, partys, all private, but after every one, I get asked if I do this for another party for someone else in attendance! I dont even have a controller, its all on the laptop, but its having fun and creating atmosphere and good sounds :-) Think next investment is smoke machine to help bring the lights to life.

This is the kind of video I needed. I have a controller that I love, a great gaming laptop that's totally overkill, and good studio headphones, but I am ready to move from strictly streaming to parties, clubs, bars, etc. But I don't know what I need for parties and venues that don't already have speakers. So this video is what I needed to be able to start building a list of what I need to buy. I want to be able to say "sure, I'll DJ your function, here's my contract that says you'll pay $100/hr and that if my gear is damaged you're liable for the cost to replace it." And show up, find that they don't have shit for audio, etc I'm able to go out to the car and bring in all of my gear and set up. ($100/hr is actually the average price for a decent DJ in my area)

A couple JBL Eons with a Sub that has an internal crossover you can bump a decent size party or almost any wedding. At home I use a 2.1 Polk home theater system that I thrifted for like $150. I've also gotten away with using Logitech z313's and Bose computer speakers for small back yard functions. @davidbukhari8785 3 жыл бұрын
Imo, the choice of speakers is heavily dependent on the type of music you play. for instance my home area is known for a certain style of deep tech house. All the local djs will ask before accepting a booking, if the rig is capable of offering good clarity and punch across the spectrum. And then those speakers on the shortlist should be x checked for suitability and durability in the environments you expect to use them. Using the club's rig is okay, if it's a nice system, then it's a viable choice. But it's a real help to have access to a really nice rig, because it can help the fledgling event create an identity of its own, rather than a vague Friday at *xyz* club

I'll just say, "If nobody cares enough to get good speakers then I'm bringing a DDJ-400 and my JBL Xtreme 3." Somebody's got speakers, or we can rent the right ones for the event. I guess if I started doing a lot of events where it was an issue I'd buy some PA speakers. But renting PA gear seems like a normal thing to do. And I'd certainly rather someone else carry those heavy speakers around. Renting CDJs would scare me, though. If I rented CDJs and a mixer I would be worried that I'd get beat-up gear on its last leg and end up getting charged for breaking it. And... As much as people make fun of Pioneer and say that CDJs are overpriced, they hold their value. I bought three CDJ-2000NXS2s two years ago and actually sold for a slight profit this year.

can you plz make a video on recording the set specially on rekordbox, cuz when I record my sets i always try to keep the volume of the channels and the master on the green light but then it happened to be low when I listen to the set later.

In my opinion, lights, speaker quality, and enthusiasm are the main areas mobile DJs lack! And let’s face it, mixing ability often too. I usually see the classic 4 par + 2-4 moving heads setup - which IMO looks way too bright to be ravey, and is quite cheesy. Or it’s a handful of derby style party lights running the same sound active mode show the entire night. That’s why I’d love to see more DJs taking advantage of DMX! Especially when we’re talking more than the standard par + movers setup

Can’t really go wrong with the ddj800 or if you can afford to pay a little more the ddj1000. Since they’re basically the expanded version of the model you already have practice with

@@glowupbulb word sounds good. I’ve used the ddj 1000 before but I was wondering if the sound card was good enough or if pioneer had an even better controller. I haven’t heard of one better than the ddj 1000 yet

Hey guys and Andrew :) I’m wondering if you tried to play on some Denon equipment? Like Denon Prime Go? Because I used to have DDJ 400, then DDJ 1000, and now because I’m gonna move in a while , I decided to sell it and go mobile and bought Denon Prime Go. And I can see , that I can’t perform, use eq techniques from course the same way , as it was on Pioneer. It’s much harder and eq seems to react differently. Is anyone found out how to set it in settings so it’s sounds similar to Pioneer ? :)

@@ClubReadyDJSchool yes , I know , but it’s not about what you have replied. Problem is not about position of the knobs , I didn’t even mention about that :) it’s more about setting of eq in menu (iso xover high/low) and difference of trim / gain , in rekordbox it’s works much better, probably auto gain is more calibrated, so songs don’t sound on different level all the time . On rekordbox I almost never uses that knob, but here - it’s necessity.

@@ClubReadyDJSchool I found those people on Denon forum , they have same issue and helped me to some extend solve these problem. I’m not the only one who experienced it by moving from Pioneer, Rekordbox ,Traktor, Serato to Denon Prime Engine :) Hopefully they will hear us and solve it one day with the update.

well to be honest.. why going from controller to club gear? when you can already get a 2nd hand pionerr djm-600 and two 2nd hand cdj 850 for the cost of a controller? learning beatmatching without the visualisation is the key to become better at mixing music and get more secure in mixing
