Rawest display of turntable skillz and mixer abuse in the history of planet Earth. Love these two dudes!!

Well said. I've been watching this since I first saw it on VHS in 1994 and it still can't be beat. No other battle routine has ever been so ruthless. Not even the Klamz of Death routine used against the X-men.

2:41-2:59 Q is doing some next level shit. Cutting over the beat, then drumming and mixing on beat all at the same time. This was 94, let that sink in!!!!

Absolutely!!!! Insane 🔥🔥🔥
@rockhills3 жыл бұрын
Well he has ear monitors which allow him to stay on beat. Nonetheless, it was extremely well executed. Every time I've heard that "Cause this is the beat y'all of the year@", my mind flashes to this routine.

I think I read a brief article on this in a rap magazine (might have been Word Up) and it said this team was from another planet, that no one else came even close.

One of my favorite routines ever!!! This was so ahead of its time it's not even funny... Q & Mike were always pushing the limit.. It was always so hard to compete against them cause once you finally figured out what they were doing & learned to do it yourself they'd be on some other level shit a year later. Simply amazing & impossible to fuck wit... This played a huge roll in ISP not being able to compete anymore after this.. They were seriously that great & still great to this day. I believe Q-Bert lives on another planet as king of the scratch along with the rest of the ISP crew. Love these dudes & so happy to have had the privilege of meeting them many times through out the years. Real down to earth & always willing to share the knowledge. ISP forever!!!
@RobertFreiberger7 жыл бұрын
I watched this video back in 1995, when I first got my turntables and it was the only thing we practiced. But even now it still feels fresh and modern in this digital age. It's really hard to describe what it was like hearing this for the first time to non-dj's. I guess it would be similar to hearing Eddie Van Halen's Eruption the first time and how it changes your whole world on guitar playing.
@j-boogiebrown99616 жыл бұрын
That was an urban myth, created by the guys themselves, about being banned. Of course DMC would've let them go for a third title, just like Craze did in 2000.
@johnfry82866 жыл бұрын
It wasnt an urban myth, just not rewarding for them when there was little challenge tbh. Mike was def weaker, but had some strengths. Q was simply untouchable then and so far advanced its easy to understand how he'd rather challenge himself more, than challenge others. Q actually had some of the laziest battle routines ever when you think how insanely good he was. Also, it was an age where people didnt share tricks or even records, and he kinda squashed all that and told people everything, so the artform would advance. Kicking ass gets boring quick when u can teach others, and they in turn push u further

DJ GaFFLe Nah I would've thought the same but if you've scene the 92 dmc before this and this there was quite a few dj's on to the concept of a dj band. Personally its the battles between 89 to 93 that showed the most originality.From 93 to 96 was the last of the creative dj's.Since then not a single thing has changed.
@j-boogiebrown99618 жыл бұрын
Are you serious? So you're saying the Allies and Scratch Perverts didn't create anything new, between '97 and '01? Those two crews created so many new styles, and deserve to be regarded as highly as the Piklz, X-Men and Beat Junkies.

Makes me happy that they recorded this but sad at the same time, because the height of scratching was in the late 70s and early 80s before rap was on the radio. And this is when most experimentation was taking place in different parts of the country as kids went home and started scratching on their parents record collections. Plus this is when DJ crews were popping up to do dance parties in basements, parks and playgrounds, including some with multiple turntables and DJs all at once. But most of that was not recorded.

Compared to what Ned hoddings did 10 yrs later. Yes, this is messy. Still miles ahead of everyone at the time tho.
@ROMS-3 жыл бұрын
Not really . They originated a lot of the shit others did later - pretty fucken tight - context is everything - if your originating patterns and styles others follow for decades it -would shit on everything else that followed afterwards anyway - funny thing is- it isn’t messy - so your comment is doubly illogical
