The dance is Fancy dance in the Lakota tradition. The regalia is made especially for each dancer and is sacred to him. This one is the prairie chicken. There is also Eagle, Tatanka (buffalo), and other animal clans. Different regalia, different dancers. The fist was the symbol of A.I.M. The American Indian Movement.

Megwich! First Nation from Muscowpetung Saskatchewan. Thank you for adding the historical context. My brother's children are Lakota and I remember when my cousin came back to Saskatchewan from the U.S. in the early 70's fired up for A.I.M. It was a time of change! I was jam then and it's a jam now!

Before they formed Redbone, Jimi Hendrix told them they should start an all Native American band. Jimi was part Cherokee.
@rulab6 ай бұрын
All the original members of Redbone were of Native American or Mexican American Heritage. This song was written by Lolly Vegas who, along with his brother Pat, were the first and longest standing members of Redbone. Lolly passed in 2010 and Pat disbanded the group BUT still technically has the rights to the group by being the only member... I love this song and remember the first time I saw this intro and how much it made me smile...lol Thank you for this one Bumblebee Whisperer! Amazing choice again!

Please listen to more 70's bands. Black water by the Doobie Brothers, three dog night singing"Mama told me not to come". Those two bands are two of the best. I graduated in 1977. This granny is 65. I lived in the best times. Praying y'all's generation can learn from the mistakes made and we can have peace and love all over the world. Peace out. Grandma Shirley ❤❤❤

The only time i wasnt a little late getting home for curfew. 12 midnight was curfew for everyone, we always thought all the mothers got together and agreed on a time. Thanks for bringing back some great memory's. There is only 2 of us left.

I live in Arizona. The guy in the white is the leader, I don't remember his name. A lot of Native dances are supposed to mimic the native animals in their area. The guy in the black is wearing a turquoise necklace, that style is called a Squash Blossom. I'm not sure which tribe they are from. By the way, I'm a Pentatonix. Where did all of your PENTATONIX reactions go to? I need more, more, more!
