When this came out in the 70s, everyone thought this was a Black R&B group. We didn't get to actually see the people in the Bands like you can these days. When we did see them on "The Midnight Special," we got a big surprise when we all saw they were Native American. They had soul, that's for sure. Great old song from the 70s.

If I remember the story behing the lyrics, it was Lollie's lady just hanging out with him at home, and asks him if her hair looks funny, you know the way they do when they're insecure about it? Then he responds, basically saying "what are you, nuts, you're gorgeous!" with "you're divine, and you're mine, come and get your love!" and so the hit was born...
@kristybrodersen58532 ай бұрын
Exactly! Hail…!!! What’s the matter with your head. You’re so fine, you’re mine & so divine! I’m your love & it’s here for you. I think that he said a lot in a few words. Straight to the point & said in a very creative manner. Such a great song that makes you feel nothing but joy.

They are saying " what's the matter with your hair?" At the beginning of the song. And later on he tells her to get her head straight. His girlfriend was fretting about the way she looked so he tells her "you're fine and you're mine and you look so divine, come and get your love etc" he's saying I love you and think you look great no matter what. Don't be insecure. Love it!

Yes Redbone was Native American, & the Dance is called the "Fancy Dance", Pan-Indian dancing, Fancy Feather or Fancy War Dance is a style of dance some believe was originally created by members of the Ponca tribe in the 1920s and 1930s, in an attempt to preserve their culture and religion. It is loosely based on the War dance. Please react to more, they have many hits out there!!!

This was a huge hit in 1974 and if you saw the 2014 movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, this was lead actor Chris Pratt's favorite and it was played in the movie. Trivia, this song was originally a , "49 song", turned into a rock song. A, 49 is the after-party of a Dance,(Pow-Wow). Because there's so much protocol and etiquette, tradition and superstition we must follow nearly perfect, we all need down time to have a place to relax and dance to good drums. Some people will get out of hand and most people just sit and party but we all want a place to feel fun. I love both the Dance,(Pow-Wow), and The 49. It's usually NDNs only. Best to stay in groups and if your Non-Indian, do not go, or by yourself, you have to be with Indians and hangout on the outside of the crowd and don't drink alcohol, do drugs or fall in love and stay out of the crowd and next to your NDN friend. Ha, (good - in Comanche), now I'm watching more videos. Y'all have a good evening.
