Another Geoff song with very similar energy is Saddle Up. It is one of the least viewed of his videos, which is a shame, because Geoff so clearly *loves* the song, and it's obvious he's just having a great time singing it. The video is just so silly, with Geoff exuding eager Golden Retriever energy, throughout it and if that weren't enough, there's also a bonus Layne! Seriously, it's no epic piece, he doesn't perform any staggeringly low notes you haven't heard before- but it's delightful, and sadly overlooked.

This video is the best one he's ever done. No epic costumes and makeup, just Geoff giving us some MOVES. That C1 at the end was chilling, and it was SUNG WORDS, not just holding a pitch like in Halo and Valhalla. Articulation makes singing so much harder, thus even more impressive. Although it's challenging for him (he's actually a baritone with a ridiculously extended lower range) the fact that he's so determined to push his limits in order to respect the original (the legendary JD Sumner) deserves applause.

@@mityakiselev I've thought a lot about this, to be honest. Long before I discovered Geoff. You see, I have a very deep female voice. (B2, down to G2 in morning voice). I was mislabeled due to my voice teacher being more focused on how HIGH the women could sing, while she focused on how LOW the men could sing. I suffered because of this. Yes, I technically CAN hit A5. Do I like to? Heck no! But that was her focus. I was later told, due to my tessitura (where you feel most comfortable singing) I'm a contralto. When it comes to Geoff, yes, he CAN sing an F1, but he may not feel COMFORTABLE doing it. He feels best singing in a baritone range. Do we categorize women by highs and men by lows, or do we ask the singer what feels most comfortable? So I agree with Geoff, while also laughing at how ridiculous it is that a man with such depth feels best in a more "average" range. Go figure! Yet we could just as easily call him a tenor by the fact that he can hit an Ab5..... or call Mariah Carey both a soprano for her soaring E7, and a contralto for her rumbling G#2. His tessitura is that of a baritone, and for many voice teachers, that is your TRUE range. I guess he had one of those teachers in his youth.

@@rhov-anion IDK, you can usually tell when people aren't quite comfortable singing these notes. Obviously, the lowest couple semitones aren't that nice to hit, even if talking only about your evening voice. But to me, Geoff seems pretty comfortable in the high 1st - low 2nd octave, the sound's super full and rich. I reckon if that wasn't his normal voice, he'd sound a lot more strained doing it. Maybe IDK what I'm talking about.

Knew you get a huge kick out of this one. There's nothing this man does that doesn't sound and look good! He sings, he dances (don't believe him when he says he can't), he acts, he has a great sense of humour and the bonus of a fetching little butt wiggle (which I may have replayed more than once on occasion). Did you also notice Jeff was eating popcorn out of his dustpan? So, we were introduced to the clone names in this one, so you have Geoff (lead), Jeff (tenor background and sometimes second lead), Jeoph (bass background and sometimes second lead), and Goff (baritone background ). He added Daryl (bari-tenor) in Ghost Riders in the Sky. These are not always the voices for the specific clones, but that seems to be most often the case.

This is the first time he named his other Geoffs, no Daryl yet, he appeared in Ghost Riders. This was just poking fun at the way some reactors pronounce Geoff. :) Geoff did say he didn't know what made him do this, what he calls goofy, video. But we're so glad he did. It took him countless attempts at that last note, to make it sound as good as he wanted it. I think he was just making fun of himself by that last comment. His humour can be subtle but it's there. :) He's done a fair bit of dancing. My favourite little dance is in Still Alive with VoicePlay. He's so cute.

Lovely reaction! I knew you'd just about fall out of your chair again. He's covering Elvis as well as legendary bass singer J.D. Sumner. Among other things in J.D.'s very long and successful career, J.D. and his group toured with Elvis as the opening act, then sang backup during the concert. Way Down was Elvis's last song to hit #1. This video was a departure for Geoff from previous solo videos because of the dancing, acting, humor, flirting, and it's a (gasp) love song. For me the change began with video just before this one, Ain't No Sunshine -- more acting, exploring greater emotional range. Almost as if he's been influenced by hanging around Cesar, who is very expressive. 🥰😍 Geoff says he dances for fun and being dorky but choreography takes a lot of practice. If you want to see more dancing, check out Monster Mash on his solo channel (cameo by Kathy!) then Boy Bands in 5 Minutes and Cheerleader on VP's channel.

That last "down" at the end is a C1. (On a standard piano keyboard, the first three white keys at the left are A0, B0, and C1. Black keys are sharps or flats, depending on which direction you approach them from.) I *think* that was his lowest recorded lyric-carrying vocal until Valhalla Calling. He had hit A0 and B0 before, but I think not while singing actual words, until recently. He's on record saying that the C1 here required numerous takes to get it right. The people who make the "vocal range" videos are probably due to redo his soon. And yeah, the video absolutely makes this one. Some of his others are musically more interesting, but they don't have as much going on visually as this one.

His Misty Mountain comment was in reaction to a comment about that video. The spray bottle was a spin on another comment by a reactor. If you watch Oogie Boogie most folks miss the gummy worms come out of his mouth when he sings about stew or pie.

Apparently the name tags used here are all how people in the comments sections have mis-spelt his name and yes the "Misty Mountains..." comment was a bit of a poke at those who get in the comment sections saying this or that was better than whatever the current video was. Also apparently he did multiple takes of the chair tip and that last note before he got it spot on. No, this isn’t where the names clones came from - it’s where Geoff first stole the idea. His patrons had been having fun with the names in comments on his Patreon, and….this is how we found out he’d been reading those comments. And apparently was amused by said comments. Darryl was one he named though. And he didn’t show up until Ghost Riders. You need to hop onto his Patreon, his BTS are almost always laugh out out funny. The BTS for this one was really good. There was one point Eli came by and he was like “watch this!” and he scurried over and flipped the chair. IDK that Kathy knew about that: she was off camera but her horrified gasp was loud and clear. Eli, being a solid bro friend was like “cool!” The other moment that cracked me up was Geoff asking Layne to zoom in tighter on his butt. There was a expression that crossed Layne’s face for like half a second that made it perfectly obvious he wasn’t all that into the thought of that view. 😃

In Valhalla Calling, he hits a single note lower than this (B0), but arguably this C1 is the lowest note he's hit that was a spoken word. He hits the B0 sustained twice (during the rap section he holds it for the second half of the rap, and then also at the beginning when he does the drone under the others before he comes in for his solo). He also pulled off a shaky B0 Halo Theme (shaky in that he slid out of subharmonics part way though the sustained and it became a B1 instead). The octave number increases at each C of an octave... so even though it seems wrong to the uninitiated, a C1 is lower than an A1 or B1 as an example (to further illustrate, the scale goes A0 B0 || C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 A1 B1 || C2 ...... Do you go and watch other people’s reactions of a song after you’ve recorded yours? If you want to learn some of the music theory/terms/techniques I would recommend watching Jennifer Glatzhofer or David K reacts. If you want over the top reactions like yours (I mean that in a good way… I’m totally here for it) then Mortius or Kazandra Brock are always a laugh. There are at least a dozen different reactors that I watch for all the VP songs. Also, a B0 is the lowest key on a piano. The C1 he sang at the end of this song is the second lowest.

Do you recognize this set. Letting his inner Elvis out and Oh, the booty wiggle gets me every time. This is where he named his clones. Look at the name tags. You have Geek Supervisor Goff, Toilet Brush Jeoph, and Dust bin Jeff. He is playing in the ways that everyone pronounces his name wrong. He added Daryl when he did Ghost Riders In The Sky. That was a C0, he said it took him 80 takes to get it.

In the original.....I think it is a C#1......Elvis's bass singer hit same note.......he hit a B0 in Halo,......and sustained B0 in Valhalla Calling....B0 is the second to the last key on a piano.....>^^
