14:57 - Best tip❗️ is to go 2nd hand and save some 💸 cash by buying gently used! Often, "Protect Your Gear" or "Accident from Damage & Handling" are still purchasable on these products from reliable retailers as they have inspected & tested them b4 resell. So no risk if product craps out from extended use, surges, etc... Also, buying "PYG or ADH" is bracket based, so the open box price drop "can" drop the price of the ADH warranty if one was going to buy the protection anyway! Putting controller at same cost as buying new, but with on avg a 2 year protection plan accompanied.

The FLX10 is hands down my favorite from this video! I’ve been DJing for 1.5 years now on the FLX4, and while it’s been an amazing start, I feel like I’ve truly outgrown it. The FLX10 feels like the perfect next step, it’s literally the bigger and more advanced version of the FLX4, and it would open up so many new creative possibilities for me. I’m about to play my first paid gig soon, and since DJ equipment is so expensive, winning this would be an absolute game-changer. Also, big thanks to you Carlo for all the super helpful videos, they’ve taught me so much and really helped me grow as a DJ🫶🏼

For a beginner, the FLX-4 has the most functionality for a beginner to be introduced to newer play styles and as well as getting a slight intro for the flagship setups if they aim to play for a bigger audience. I too wanna amp up my game with the FLX-10 ever since I got to use it from my friend. Now that my Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 is busted and I need to save up some money (if dear God permits the big reward, would love to get into practicing into more complex transitioning with the FLX-10 to showcase my music as an music artist as well.

Something I've learnt around a year of DJing with a FLX4 is complimentary layering - especially for progressive house genres where they are journey-like sets. Makes a big difference when it comes to groove and with 4-channels where you can layer loops of previous played tracks or future tracks.

@SLIC3R221 күн бұрын
Most (if not all) controllers on the market work with VDJ, and allow full customizable mapping functionality. VDJ is unique in a way that because the versatility and how open the software is to let you do whatever you want, it’s hard to pin down “the best controller”, the best controller would be the one that either gives you all the features YOU personally NEED ergonomically, or the controller that mimics club setups

One of my best friends recently started DJing after I took him to his first rave (Ray Volpe!!) in Feb and now we even have a couple fests under our belt together. He loves DJing and has worked his way up to performing at quite a few of our local university frat parties in Houston, Texas and even a couple in Austin. He lets me mess around on it and some of our best nights together have been just freestyling on his FLX4, but for Christmas I would really love to get him something to help expand his career. Even though I only DJ for fun, your tips have helped me feel really comfortable for our seshes and I don't feel like a complete newbie next to him thanks to you. The FLX10, with the way you explain it, sounds like the perfect deck to future-proof himself for bigger shows while helping him have more freedom to really play to the best of his ability and I think it would be pretty cool if I won it for him! I have it. I don't know what I'm doing. There doesn't seem to be an instruction manual. I can't seem to change my cue points. Which is frustrating as I am learning and just trying to transition from song to song. The virtual levers for volume and especially speeding up the song are so finicky. Like trying to beat match I will set the speed and just letting go of the trigger the speed will have changed a bit. Kinda frustrating, Especially if you're learning as nothing is accurate. Trying to spin the jog wheel to match the bar is also pretty frustrating. I don't know if that's the best way to do it.

Looking to get into mixing, I'm liking the beginner options. The pads on the tiny mixers are sick. I wonder if any of them can do both phone and desktop. GL and ty for the giveaway!

I believe the DJControl Mix can actually do both, but I'll need to double check haha. Good luck on the giveaway too!

Yes! The FLX4 is the official successor to the 400, so if that's up your alley, that's what you should get 🤩

Great breakdown of DJ gear options! My favorite tip is leveraging DJ record pools for extended tracks, it’s a game-changer for smooth transitions. The Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 is definitely my top pick for beginners. 🔥 What's everyone else's favorite gear?
@djcarlo20 күн бұрын
Indeed! I always stand by record pools for their extended intros. Most tracks nowadays simply dont have them!

This is our opinion in terms of ease of use: Rekordbox & Serato > Engine DJ
@djcarlo21 күн бұрын
That's fair! Engine DJ is still newer in the game, so let's see if they can play catch up. Though, in its defense, it's more geared for standalone equipment
@CPSounds3120 күн бұрын
I originally thought that the GRV6 groove circuit feature was silly and unnecessary, but hearing you and other DJs use it makes it sound so cool! I do think RGB performance pads are missing from that controller though.
@djcarlo19 күн бұрын
It's actually pretty cool! Like, its a little bit gimmicky, but its also very useful when you wanna do instant mash ups and whatnot

I am really liking the Kontrol X1 MK3. It looks like it has the functions and versatility I can use. I have been curious how folks add performance pads to the standard club set ups. This looks like a good way to start exploring that option, for me.
@djcarlo19 күн бұрын
It is! It really comes in handy when you need those pads. I used one of it's predecessors in my Redbull Threestyle contest!

Love understanding the capabilities of the non-AlphaTheta/Pioneer units, but it's hard to break away from the club standard when it seems like they have established themselves universally as the go-to controller/CDJ/etc.
@djcarlo20 күн бұрын
Indeed. That's why i still recommend the AZ and such for those who want to keep the layout familiar. Their design language is pretty universal across the board, so transitioning from controllers to club grade equipment is much much smoother
