I don't know who said it but it changed my whole way of djing it's a quote that said Djing is about giving the people the song they didn't know they wanted

It's a very true statement b/c when you throw that curveball and it HITS w/ the crowd, it can make the whole night.
@karel20502 жыл бұрын
@@DJ_Ziggy Yes exactly as soon as I heard that quote I fell in love with this idea and I started to apply it and it changed my view on song selection, I hope that other dj's see this because it can make the whole night and it even saved me some sets

Man, thank you for this...I was just having a bit of an identity crisis thinking about the fact that my friends hadnt been to my newest residency I started at the beginning of November. Aside from my very first night there I have been showing up all alone to this gig every week. It really got to me last week and I caught a major case of imposter syndrome. Like "theres no way other DJs are showing up to their gigs literally all by themselves." Like, I just want at least one partner in crime I can bounce off of that will keep my vibes high with me or throw me a suggestion or two throughout the night. I am rounding out my 4th year as a DJ and at some gigs the doubt creeps into my head where I question what I am doing. This newest particular residency has turned out to not really be my type of crowd, its a bar I used to LOVE but they closed down and reopened last October. So I was thinking it would be a similar crowd as before and it simply is not. So it has thrown me off quite a bit and I used to know everyone in that bar so I thought it would be a perfect gig for me. Its only my 2nd residency ever and the 1st residency where I contacted the owner myself and set up a meeting to get the gig and I got it. Sometimes I forget how grateful I need to be, I have been a paid DJ from day 1. In fact, I got my first paid gig offer before I even had a controller. Ive absolutely had quite a few bad dj nights and I let them bother me so much. You said so much here I needed to hear. Dont rely on friends for support. Be proactive when pursuing gigs. Check Stop drinking at every gig. I know this deep down but I tell myself it calms my anxiety, it doesnt. Thanks for the tips. This video came right on time and I needed it.

That last bit is just straight up facts. I'm never gonna forget the time I had to pick up the slack and solo the end of a b2b gig because my friend got too smashed to be on stage..

We are always our own worst critics. What we think is the worst set ever might be the best set a patron or venue employee had ever seen. Roll with the punches when things go up and down. It's the slow and bad nights that build your experience and makes you grateful for the epic nights.

6:14 is there a website that can grade each tracks quality to ensure its a good quality? Being that I specialize in throwbacks.I've seen some record pools that have low quality. This would be a good topic to make a video about. but if you are on Tik Tok or Social Media only type dj you are good to go

@onlyyenna2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. You said no one is going to help you but yourself, but I am learning so much from you! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately and really appreciate the content. Especially coming from a UK RnB DJ here on KZbin too. In you bio you mention some good beginner dj controllers. Do you have any opinions on the DDJ-Flex4 and Rev1? I was going to get the DDJ-400 but then it was out of stock and these two were released. I’d be interested in your thoughts, no worries if not. P.S. I am as beginner, as beginner gets lol.
@antoine5871 Жыл бұрын
Ayo also a complete beginner myself but I got the flx-4 and can ABSOLUTELY vouch for it, basically a slighty more modern ddj-400 and you don’t have to pay for software (rekordbox is included)

@@antoine5871 Oh cool. I thought rekordbox was included with the ddj-400. Thanks for the feedback!

I am a kizomba dj and Record pools do not contain this music genre. This only leaves me with youtube rips. Any advice?
@karel20502 жыл бұрын
I think beatport is going to be your best bet, but for huge libraries it will cost you a lot so I'd say deep dive into it and some record pools even let you search their database before you have to buy a subscription so it's going to be a hunt. But be aware the hunt is going to be worth it. I spin some trance and old dance classics and even though everyone knows these songs they were really hard to find on record pools, but now I found some of these tracks and it gives that little bit extra excitement playing these tracks

what's a good set, what's not ? i loved mixin' from childhood long time ago ( strictly vinyl ). r&b, hip hop, acid jazz, club, HOUSE, new jack swing, dance classics. me personally with time, spendin' in the record stores, listenin' to all kinds of new entries, and the taste in music, back then you know, what's hot or cheesy. plus there were MTV, VH1 and VIVA too ;) never been into it, to get rich or make money with dj gigs. and i'll never do, but i'm now curious about the terminology 'BAD DJ SET'. what exactly means that ? regularly the equipment, mixer sound system are on top, where it's just some knobs/faders you gotta use. WHERE'S THE PROBLEM NOW ? no good ears, no good or fine taste in music, no passion, no feeling for the music/the vibe, no skills, no creativity ???
