Great vid Aldryn thanks, good comparison from two cameras that will compete against each other, I don't own either but I'd say the Go 2 is the better option overall, costs less, has better functionality, is even smaller than the Action 2 and seems it is more durable or less likely to get damaged.

Great video! How does the process for offloading video and the max recording length compare between the two cameras? Is one of these more reliable when recording or able to record more than the other before the the internal space fills up or battery dies or camera overheats etc.

I have a GoPro Max. a GoPro Hero 9. and an insta360 go2. The go2 is by far the camera I use the most. It is hard to compete on convenience, practicality and software integration. It is an absolute winner. After checking the launch of the action 2 I was curious and keen on getting it as I am now a firm believer of the form factor. However the more reviews I see the more I like the go2. I mean. When I want really good stabilised video I just get the GoPro Max with its hero mode and super wide field of view. When I need something of HiQuality I use the Hero 9. But it is just painful to calibrate the shot and let alone work with the footage. The go2 is an absolute winner for people that want to just have fun and whose primary goal is Instagram and TikTok and other social networks. Where using 4K footage makes no difference.

I've heard there are heavy overheating issues with the go 2. The only reason I haven't bought it. I wanna record my bike rides that can last up to 40-60 min one way and I've heard of overheating after just 10

Awesome comparison, I was looking for something like this. In my opinion GO 2 wins thanks to its smaller body, easier to mount on the chest (action 2 pendant is like a cheap copy of GO 2's) and more convenient usability in general. I saw some other Action 2 videos where the camera overheats like hell... did you encounter the same issue? I have GO 2 and never had this problem

I owned and returned the go 2 due to overheating. I couldn’t get more than 5 mins of footage unless it was mounted on my drone. I returned it and purchased the action 2 and am MUCH happier with it. The Action will overheat eventually at 4k60fps BUT I have the option to turn the settings down to something comparable to the Go2 and it doesn’t overheat. I also love the fact that it has better battery life and the option to use a Micro SD when paired with the battery base.

I have the go2 and can honestly say that it delivers well. Unfortunately DJI haven’t quite delivered anything game changing here that makes me want to upgrade. So I’m holding out for an X2 replacement

Great comprehensive overview in a logical format. If magnetic lens covers will stay on an acrobatic drone at 100mph or a motorcycle at 160mph I think they could be worthy. GoPro suction mounts stay on the outside of my car and bike at well over 125mph.

I'll stick with my Go 2. It doesn't over heat and I'm not worried about dropping it. As a matter of fact, I went on vacation recently and used the Go 2 more than my Hero 9 or my One X2

@@guyhanoi8561 you’ll probably only get about 40mins max in pro mode, but you will run out batteries before hitting that if not using the battery case. It is a pain to download the files in the field once your space fills up. It’s super slow as you are transferring over Wi-Fi, like a gig a minute slow. Pro mode is the only mode that horizon levels. If you accidentally don’t shoot in pro mode, you will most likely toss out that video.

I use my Osmo Action on and in the water with ND filters attached. With a magnetic mounting system for filters they're not going to be water tight so I won't be able to shoot with ND filters when on the water. Much prefer the water tight filter mount on the Osmo Action.

FOV with horizon leveling seems to also be higher with the GO 2. The DJI looks very cropped when horizon leveling is enabled.

Cool video. The quick side by side shows the dji and GoPro are way clearer than the insta 360. The fact the dji doesn’t have horizon lock in 4K is a big bummer. Because I’m gonna usually be in horizon lock. If only 1440p then I’m really considering the go 2 because it’s smaller. But the less quality image is a problem. If possible make a longer side by side, otherwise still good video.

Aloha Aldryn, Both the Action 2 and Go2 have specific niche excellence. I have the Go2 and am awaiting the Action 2. The Go2 also has heat warning issues. I will lower my Action 2 use to 2.7K for my breaking news and travel coverage. With both, you can have vids coming & going with a low key presence (front & back). Wrote my Insta 360 contacts for confirmation of Go2 64g...need specifics, Mate. Cheers, Barry (Hawaii)

I have the Go2, the GP 9 & Action1 and all are great for their various attributes. However, when comparing Video resolution, I don’t believe it’s fair to say 4K Vs 1440. One is referring to total pixel resolution and the other is number of Horizontal Lines. It should be either 4K Vs 2.7K pixels or 2160 Vs 1440 lines, which doesn’t sound so bad. Difficult to analyse when using different resolution categories. Other than that, another great review.

@@abelhorvath9352 Correct Abel, the Go2 has even better technical capacity than just 1440. I use it whenever I go out and have it in my pocket or on my shirt to record great quality video for social media or playing on my 4K TV.

Go 2 is a better implementation for portability and "lifestyle" usage. While the go 2 needs additional software to post process stabilization, you can also change more parameters then also having baked in like the action 2. I guess at the end it depends how your workflow is and if you're okay with something you can't fix later

I have the Go 2 but don't think I'm going to get the Action 2. Action 2 has a little higher resolution and frame rate and also has the ability to add external screen and micro SD card. Battery life seems to be similar. I like the form factor of the Go 2 better and since it's half the weight it is easier to mount on a cap, etc. Accessories and mounts for the Go 2 are a lot less expensive. I also like being able to change the field of view in post. All in all, not enough of a improvement over the Go 2 to spend more money.

@@XenecaJeuxMobile same as other guy said. I'd do hero 9 or 10. U don't really need the smaller size or lighter weight on cycle. Hero will give u ability to change battery and keep recording along with putting in big sdcard to record for a long time. Hero has usb port that u can connect a bigger battery to for longer battery life. I feel Go2 and action 2 great for things we're weight saving helps like drones. Also for small camera to put in ur pocket for when walking around on vacation. Also Go2 is a lil cheaper.

Sadly I have a GoPro Session and it's the absolute worst ever action cam I have purchased. The DJI Action 2 looks near identical to a Session so i'm very fearful. I just wish the 'portrait' format would go away. It's so flash in the pan. Nice you avoided the issues with these cameras. We all know they are there with both.

I had the Insta360 GO (ver 1) but the video quality was really poor. It is really hard to see how the quality on the actual video looks if you live in "grey dark rainy" Sweden.. With good light and sun as in all your good tests (Yes I envy your location 😀) all cameras perform good. But how is the real video quality different on these two?

go2 Pro video is great, BUT when you export it from their app you loose original file timestamps. They all newly created now with just a split of a second difference. And if you need to edit along with other videos from a phone/camera etc - your timeline is screwed. HUGE disadvantage for me

I'm leaning towards the Action 2 but one thing I have not seen is what difference is teh secondary screen from the built in? It seems so far the only good use id for monitoring while vlogging or selfies. Just trying to figure which package would be most appropriate for motorcycle riding and travel - I don't do a lot of selfies.

The extra mics are used like the GoPro where one shuts off if it gets too much wind and the other one picks up hopefully cutting out wind noise but if that’s not important you definitely save the money and just get the power one.

Both don't have interchangeable batteries, but the A2 also doesn't have a screen protector (and in one of the previous videos we saw it break after it suffered a fall). And where I live now (Vietnam), DJI refresh is not offered. I'm pretty sure that in the future they'll come up with a DJI or a third party lens protector or cover, though. I don't care too much about 4k since I still film mostly in 1080p (or 2.7k if i want the option to crop in) so I don't think overheating would be an issue, but I hear the files on the pro option in the GO2 are huge... Yet, the GO2 is so small, it's so tempting.

One concern I keep hearing about the action 2 is overheating. So far I’m not hearing a lot to convince me that the action 2 is worth buying. It seems to me to sit in between a GoPro and the Go 2.

All action cameras overheat, every single one, due to capability in relation to its size. I have just checked my old GoPro in continuous recording and it lasted for 6 mins. I have been using it for last 4 years, made many videos and you may guess how many times it overheated? None, never! This are all ACTION cameras, you shoot clips of 1 or 2, maybe 3 mins at once. Think what you will be using your new camera for. Seems to me that some people try to use them as dashcams or wedding cameras and complain. BW.

How did you not notice or report in the overheating issue for the Go 2, the likely reason that GoPro discontinued the Session line, which the Go 2 copied. You didn't mention that either. #affiliatelinkbias
