Damn you Danny Bligh, you made me send in a gifted (crashed but not by me!) Avata for DJI repair! I was given a crashed Avata, 6 batteries (4 with less than 5 charge cycles), & an MC1. I already had the Goggles Integra/MC2 Combo for my Mini 3/Mini 4. $159 for the Avata repair, $80 for a sweet hard case, $186 for the FPV Controller 2, and $129 for 2-year Care Refresh for a total of $474 for essentially a new Avata FPV system. Haven't been this psyched since the Phantom 2 Vision+! Arggggg you scoundrel!

It certainly takes time. When i first started fpv i’d say I flew for around 6 weeks daily on the sim before trying to fly the actual drone. And then i’d fly in an open field for maybe an hour a day, every day. So worth it though!!

@DannyBligh2 жыл бұрын
Just turn it back the other way, so i believe you need to loosen the screen - counter clock-wise. Do it until it feels natural, doesn’t need to be back to how it was before exactly
@ccc3 Жыл бұрын
How do you manage switching back and forth between a cinematic drone like a Mavic and an FPV? The muscle memory must be getting really confused. Seems like you have to pick one path or the other for the rest of your life, or get a high chance of smashing one of your drones due to wrong inputs when you switch between them.
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
Technically the controls are identical as in the direction the drone will move. You just dont hold the sticks in position with the avata. If you want go forwards then its always the right stick forwards on any drone in factory settings. I fly a mini 3, mavic 3 classic and avata regularly, your brain quickly adapts

In manual mode. Will the drone still auto hover if you don't touch the controller?
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
It won’t auto hover, however if you move the throttle to a position for the thrust to counter the weight of the drone and leave the throttle there it was then hover and you don’t need to put any more control in. However do this with caution, any slight alteration in wind, heat, or slightly catching a control still will cause the drone to move and cause a crash

Is there a way to land the avata manually? Or is the only option to cut the rotors? If I land it the sensors keep making the drone bounce off the ground
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
You can either cut the motors, or if you hit the pause button (or just flick back to normal mode) you can then pull down on the throttle and make it land like a mavic would. The reason it’ll bounce is because of the flight controller inside. You’re stopping the flight controller going down (with the ground, admittedly 😂) but the flight controller fights against that and it will make the small corrections to keep the drone level. Them small corrections are the bounces. All fpv drones do it

What drone in Liftoff comes closest to the DJI Avata? And what tilt angle on the camera is best?
@DannyBligh2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using the armattan 3” Gecko. But i personally don’t think any of them are great in comparison to the real thing. Lift Off is good for getting use to the controls and understanding how the drone will react. Camera angle - depends how fast you want to fly. Because the cameras don’t move, the larger the camera angle the faster your drone will fly to be able to level out that camera and stop it pointing up. If you’re just starting out, try 20-25 degrees and slowly increase it as you practice. I fly with around 30-35 degrees now but if i’m doing something where i’ll have to move slower then i’ll decrease it

i did try the manual mode in avata but it won't slow down. seems like in the cruise control mode. is that normal? in the simulator also is in the top speed always..
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
Without seeing what you’re doing it’s hard to tell… but it’s probably down to 2 things. Your controller isn’t calibrated or it’s how you’re flying it. If you need it to slow down you need to bring the right stick back to level it out and then decrease the throttle

I don't know why I should care about manual mode, the motion controller is really fun. Nobody has really convinced me why I should spend $200 on a controller
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
You don’t have to care for it, it’s optional and the motion controller works great. The fpv controller just gives you more control but requires more skill. I know many people that use the motion controller only
@rodrigodebritogomes15382 жыл бұрын
how do you control the velocity ?
@DannyBligh2 жыл бұрын
In terms of how fast you move forwards? The more you tilt the drone forward the more throttle you have to give the drone, therefore the faster it will move. More tilt = faster movement Less tilt = slower movement

Liftoff doesn’t have Avata and there’s an issue where they haven’t updated to match the latest DJI FPV Remote v2 firmware. You can’t take off because the throttle range. Steam is a massive headache on MacOS even with a 2022 M1 with 64GB Ram. Save yourself $40 bucks buying this mess of an app until they update and actually support the Avata.
@DannyBligh Жыл бұрын
I actually got Liftoff not long after making this video. They don’t have the Avata you’re right, but they have a gecko which is similar. The software works fine though for me, and i’m running an m1 macbook. Double check your settings, just to be sure. I just had to calibrate everything

I've been seeing this topic pop up everywhere! I've never experienced it so far but it's certainly made me nervous about flying especially over water. I've had some twitches a couple of weeks ago when I was making the last video on the Avata but I put that down to interference due to me flying next to a communication mast. Flew it near my home later that day and was fine. Something to do with the FPV controller and going full stick on the yaw? Don't know what's going on there, it's hard to work out. With it being such a small drone with low powered motors it could be that the flight controllers gyro is just losing it's balance but then I've heard some drone have just paused in the air and wouldn't respond. No idea, definitely hasn't happened here yet and I Can only comment on my knowledge of the DIY drones I use to build. Certainly interesting for sure, feel bad for the owners
