What the motion controller does for me as a novice, it gives me flowy style video, more like a fixed wing than a quad drone. Using sticks as beginner makes it jerky, it takes a lot of practice and skill to get flowy motion from sticks. The motion controller makes good cinematic video easy for beginners. Things to watch out for, the motion controller can burn your batter a lot faster than you may be used to using the sticks, be aware of battery time. I got caught over a river with motion controller fail safe and had to over ride to keep it from landing in the river.

"The motion controller makes good cinematic video easy for beginners." Great point and exactly what I was looking for. Much easier than 2 sticks.
@Willy_Tepes2 жыл бұрын
I've never flown a flight simulator with anything but a Microsoft Sidewinder with motion sensing. A stick just feels weird and I am no fan of regular drone controllers either. A two handed controller would be better in my view as you could have more buttons on it. A motion control does not use noticeably more power.
@stuartshallproductions74092 жыл бұрын
For years I used the standard controller, when the FPV drone came out I ordered the motion controller because it reminded me of the control stick from flying jet aircraft. I was not disappointed and it is definitely my preferred method for flying. If you sit in a chair the experience is even better and much more comfortable!

I think your missing a trick here the motion controller really comes alive when combined with the head tracking allowing more precise controls faster turns, orbits, vertical climbs and dives, I have posted a video on my profile showing the motion controller with head tracking active.

I watched it, it’s a cool video. You did demonstrate a little more versatility with head tracking, but no full on straight down dive, so I’m assuming that the motion controller is still not as versatile as the sticks?

@@airadaimagery692 not as good as sticks in manual mode I agree but they said orbits where not possible and I’ve already completed that challenge, also they say you cannot go backwards I am trying that also just uploaded a video of my first backwards flying test with the motion controller needs more practice but definitely possible, I am enjoying what new ways I can fly with the motion controller and head tracking

I think having fun with the Motion Controller is cool. It is very cool tech. Some will prefer it, some will outgrow it and move to sticks. I think it's ok to have options, even tho for best control and accuracy, sticks are still best. For some beginners, the Motion Controller will be their first great experience and draw into our hobby. And I think this is a really good thing, the more people in our realm, the better for the future and acceptance of it.

I got the motion controller with the original FPV drone for the exact reason you mentioned. I have a disability that limits the use of my hands, specifically my fingers. While I can use the standard remote, I have to use my thumbs to fly like a video game controller. I don't have the fine motor skills to be a pinch-type flyer. So the motion controller comes in handy for me. Now I'm just waiting for DJI to ship my Avata.

Maybe in the next update if we all ask they can put sport mode at least at 45 then I might consider maybe even just picking up the drone because I have the DJI fpv. But I do feel that the sport mode i30 is very slow at least 45 we should all ask for a top speed and sport mode 45
@noonespecific94632 жыл бұрын
Younger people who don’t know anything about a stick controller are going to become very proficient with those motion controllers. It’s why DJI “forced” it’s purchase with the new drone. It’s also why the sport speed is so much less than the original, it will be much easier to learn to fly it at the lower speed, and confidence will come quicker. Imagine if you had never flown a drone with a controller and you learned how with this motion controller.

You comments was my experience. I'm not sure why it doesn't match the 42mph of the Air2S in sports mode. It should really use the speeds from the Air2S for normal and sport. But to the MC being comfortable, I hit a gap between trees with the first flight of this drone outside. So, the motion controller is great for us newbies. The best part of this drone is the goggles though. The adjustments for us guys who wear glasses CANNOT be understated how good that is. I took the extra frames they send to my eye doctor to get lens just for me. They send the frame with blanks for them to use as guides to create custom lenses for the Goggles 2.

Thanks Billy, great video and good info. I just pulled the trigger on the Avata so this video really helps. I have never put a thousand dollar plus drone in the air so I'm freaking here a bit. One question, how would you control the motion controller if you wanted the drone to just hover and do 360's? Personally, the motion controller is perfect for me and is actually the main reason I bought this. I've always wanted to experience FPV flight but didn't care for the short flight times and the long learning curve. I'm 73 and have been flying R/C planes, and heli's for years. I think I'm going to have a ball with this drone. Thanks again!

As far as cinewhoops are concerned, the motion controller pretty much does the job amazingly. Looking at the big picture, DJI really did a great wonders with this. Any other speed or acrobatic movements should be with the DJI FPV or FPV drone in general. For the people that complain that making your own whoop/FPV would be cheaper and better, the Avata has sensors, range, and an amazing camera.
