DJI Flip - Tracking My E-bike at Speed and More Drone Tricks

With the direction track, you need to cycle straight fwd at it. If you deviate off to the side, it thinks you want a side track. If you start straight and stay straight it should be fine. I think :). I just got mine yesterday so it’s fun finding out. Brilliant wee drone :). I sold my Neo, loved the form of the Neo, and its great to practise with, esp FPV, but I wanted better video quality.

Nice vid IQ. How to Direction track… once you launch the drone let it go back it’s 1 meter and set itself, once it does, it’s gonna wait for your first move and lock that position. So if walk directly at it, it will lock in front facing mode unless you evade it and it will revert to follow. If you evade and it can’t find you it will wait till it finds you and hopefully you will continue into the original direction. Now launch direction mode and after it goes and sets its position, walk perpendicular to it and it will track you from that side. Remember it will only try to track you from the side you originally started. I.e. if you walk left and walk back the other direction to the right if will start following you and not parallel you because it’s set to follow from the right or left side, depending what your first direction was. Good luck, once you get the hang of direction track and how to steer it with your movements, it’s super useful. You need a lot of room though cause it’s very sensitive and moves very quickly to reorient and will crash. You, Marcus are it’s only obstacle avoidance. Good luck. I know you’re gonna crush direction track the next time you try it.

The Flip is made to follow people walking, so anything beyond that and it will struggle. I'm guessing it would have more effective in tracking you from in front if you had been walking. Great testing Marcus, thanks for braving the elements for this on. Every video you post on the Flip convinces I don't need this drone.

Another great video and some solid information! Appreciate the real world use and experience that you always show in your videos. Things don’t always go as planned and products aren’t flawless. For me, this drone is on my radar but don’t think I’m this current iteration. The follow me looked to work pretty well and the video was good, though the tracking when turning seems like it could use some smoothing out. Hand launching/landing, I’m still not sold on it. 😂 I think these style of drones would be a bit better with more obstacle avoidance on them as you’d have more peace of mind with it tracking behind or to your side. Especially when not using a controller. Appreciate all that you do and I look forward to every video! In fact today I made my maiden voyage with my Air 3s and it went very well. I attribute that to what I’ve learned from yours and a few others channels! Keep up the excellent work!

Here’s my question of the day … do you or have you tried a matt finish screen protector versus the normal glossy protector? As “we” get older and get light/glare sensitive I’m having issues with seeing my iPhone attached to the rc-n3. Thought of asking your opinion … pro’s&con’s “keep on flying”

To me this is a huge white elephant by DJI. This drone fills absolutely no void whatsoever. A pointless exercise by DJI. The Neo is just such a complete product, dji need to recognise the market requirements and appreciate that they have all the bases covered.
