I glad you choose to fly the Flip with a controller, now I know that it doesn't perform the way I like my camera drones to operate in wind. I do very little selfie and tracking video's, so that is of just secondary interest to me. I know it was cold, but at least your phone didn't overheat. And you forgot your photographers gloves.Great video Marcus, and thanks for sharing.

Great video as always Marcus! I think those obstacle alerts were the overexposure hash marks that were from some snow in the hills. My Air 3S arrived today and just need some warmer weather to take it our for it's first dance.

Hey Marcus. Looking pretty cold out there. We got a deep chill in the Carolina's as well. The flip is not a bad little drone. In fact, the camera, especially Night Shooting looks terrific. No disagreement on it losing any battle with the wind, but for a unique, reasonably priced drone? Ikind of like it!

I'm waiting on mine to get here. Less than 30 miles from Galveston and it's 21 F. Here and about 2 inches of snow on the ground. I guess it's the climate change! Thanks for the review! Flip isn't getting very much enthusiasm, but I think it will be okay for me and my adult son to practice with. I've personally never flown any DJI product so I am looking forward to trying it out.

Thank you for showing us this new drone! Again, love how you present everything. I haven't tried out this drone myself, but it seems not that much better than my Mini 4k, apart from the obstacle detection and 60fps compared to the 30fps max on the Mini 4k. I find the whole drone setup a bit awkward, but this is just my own opinion ;) I can't wait for the Mini 5 coming out, and I hope you will do a video on that too!! If you watch the official video from DJI, they say there that the flimsy gray-colored plastic/rubber cover for the gimbal should not be reused once removed, so it is only the hard plastic cover that protects the gimbal when being stored.

It's actually a poor battery performance, as the drone is a similar size and weight to the m3p, and yet, with its 3110mah capacity battery, it has less flight time than the 2590mah that the m3p has.

When it's real cold, I use nitrile gloves to keep my fingers and hands warm. The gloves do kind of like what a wet suit does for swimming. Gloves work great for my arthritic fingers.

Hey Marcus, good video/review! You crack me up at times with some of the things you say, “Now we’re hauling the mail”, 😂😂I hope you were close enough to your home to warm up with some coffee or what have you. I’ve seen a dozen or so other videos about this drone and you’re the first to actually say it has OA! For the ones that brought up that topic they only mentioned lidar feature. I saw your screen though when going through your pre flight checklist that it does have some form of OA. IDK, I just thought it was interesting that no one else has mentioned the OA in their vids but you did. Shows you cover it ALL, good job brother and thanks for taking one for the team with the cold!! Hi Marcus, thanks for braving the cold. You initially had a seaplane problem, mine was worse with my new Flip. I ordered the Flip after it was reported that geofencing was gone from DJI drones. The first few flights were ok then geofencing was back. Cuss words!!! then the day after the Inauguration, the geofencing was gone again. I think this drone is for palm launch use., which is why I bought it. I have found launching from your iPhone is easier than from your hand. I enjoy your videos. Keep it up. Have you seen the official DJI policy on geofencing? I think they turn it on on days like election day. Who knows?

DJI said in a blog post that they are eliminating geofencing. We'll still get warnings, but it won't stop us from flying. 👍

Once the Fly app is updated, the Geofencing is gone. But as stated the warnings are still there - that is a good thing in my opinion. Since I fly mostly commercially, I have mixed opinion on having it gone. Yes, it is/was a hassle when getting an authorization to fly in it, but I fear that many will fly where they shouldn’t (ignoring all FAA regulations) which will hurt everyone in the end.

I would say it depends on what you are looking for. I'm a big fan of the Mini 4K.

The Flip has the RC-N3 where the mini 4k only has RC-N1. I've heard people say they are able to get the flip places the Mini 4k can't reach, also with a better camera. Is the mini 4k way better in the wind, longer flight time, faster? I've been in a toss up if I should get the mini 4k or the flip or maybe something else entirely.

I also noticed in the screen recording that it indicated that the motor was stuck and couldn’t rotate and the contact DJI right before you took off. The sea plane Geo zone and that is really weird. I hope DJI didn’t release a super buggy software update..

First thing I do with new drone is adjust all settings included the gain/expo from the defaults (which might have restricted your speeds), but could also be poor wind performance with ducts. Also having the luxury of watching the other YT reviews, you could have saved your money and skipped buying this one, lol
