So you have to fly the drone while setting the waypoints? This is the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time, you may as well call it a "copy" feature. The only time this feature would ever be useful is when you need to record the exact same path multiple times.... which is extremely rare. Introduce pre-flight waypoint planning please.

Save battery and just hold the drone in the air and walk to where you want to set waypoints, saves on battery and you get some nice exercise. Just remember to wear your wellies when walking into the sea... oh and hold the drone high so it doesn't get wet.

Why do you have to PRE FLY EACH WAYPOINT? Litchi you can create entire mission on the map live or ahead of time on computer, etc. I hope DJI catches up to this

Very smart... You've recorded your live waypoints and ready to start your automated mission. But wait! You realise your battery's dead because you've wasted all your power flying to the wayooints... And wait, I already had my camera recording on the way to the waypoint! So, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS FEATURE if you can't set the waypoints for the mission prior to flying?! I just realized a same story today :) First I run out from battery. Then I reach the 500 m limit. For fix that I walked to new position, then the home point is stay on the old place, then I try to set a new home point, but the half of the screen is covered with this flight mode, then I run out from battery. Then after the charging, the weather get wrong... So what is this flight mode? MAKE YOU NERVES flight mode! No editing of the waypoints... no renaming, no global waypoints what You can use for other plans, no altitude settings, no easing, no curvature editing, no speed change planning... DJI? Something? For 1800 EUR? for PH4 Pro?

Stupid video, stupid content, dumb to have background music on an instructional video. DJI GO is good for firmware upgrades and for calibrating compass, IMU and sticks. Litchi is the only way too go for waypoint missions. Fly your Phantom 3 Standard as far out as your battery will allow the bird to return.

A step in the right direction to be sure. But wasting battery and flight time to get in the air, THEN fiddle with setting waypoints and beginning to fly the course is not quite optimum.

+Bill Farnham true, but it does prevent people from crashing into trees, buildings because of wrong height. If you already have flown the route yourself, you know for sure the the point will be at the correct height. :) morst of the times, unless you fly behind something and set the next point at a lower height.

I actually see the value in setting in person as I’ve been doing litchi waypoints and it’s a breeze but if google Maps is 10ft off and you are doing a mission close in, pilots beware as you will slam into something. Just saying

One question, Does it record various heights along with the way-points like for c1 if it is at 40 mtr and if it is 50 mtr for c2 and for c3 if it is 60 mtr and so on.. for the next flight ?

I have to agree with others -- this should allow the pilot to set mission waypoints before you fly. Having to fly the mission in order to set waypoints, frankly, adds no value for me. I guess it's back to 3DR (with all their faults) until DJI figures this out.

What the heck is this good for if I have to fly to each point first? 1. DJI doesn't your drone to run into an unsuspected treetop, high tension wire, house and building, eagle nest, etc. 2. After setting all the waypoints, you can concentrate on the camera control instead of flying. 3. You will need a new battery.

I know its been a while since this has been posted and I agree with you all BUT, here's the upside. Your flying your waypoints and notice wires, a pole or something else in your path. You can adjust it before flying it. Another reason is to save it in your favorites and fly it at another time, such as a sunset or at night or a different season to get the effect you want. As a pilot we usually carry maps with updated obstacles that might be in our flightpath or just to let us know there's a 1,000 ft. radio tower or towers in a certain area usually in the middle of nowhere. But as Quadcopter or Drone pilots we usually fly closer to the ground where there are plenty of things that can be deceiving in height and just reach out and grab your quad. I know its a pain to have to fly it twice but consider it a rehearsal so you can get it perfect and leave with your drone in the same shape you arrived with it.

is this feature availble with the DJI Mavic Pro? Will it continue to fly the pre programmed flight path even if it loses either RC control or Video reception or if losing either will it stop the mission and fly back to home? If it continues the pre programmed waypoints flight path if the battery starts getting low is there a way to program it to automatically fly back to home before the battery expires (set a minimum battery level to automatically fly home)? +DJI This fly the way points first is a bad idea. Any pilot worth his ticket, will walk the route first before flying and understand the obstacles. If you are an idiot, and don't walk the areas you intend to fly, then you deserve to lose your aircraft. I think this is aimed at amateurs, not professionals, or expert amateurs. I am sorry to say, this is more about cheap programming than safety I think. The android software for the vision 2+ navigation, is far superior to this app.

+Logan Boyd the record setting points camera to the direction that it was facing when waypoint was recorded, routine points camera in the direction of travel, free allows you to control the direction it is pointing by adjusting yaw while the p3 is tracing the waypoints

For agriculture purpose fly with a previous draw waypoints is mandatory to built a real photoscan and extend the bateries use, otherwise you get only some spots. +DJI I think it is better if we can draw flight path/points prior to take off. We can use designed flight path to navigate drones manually. And with manual, we can advoid obstacles. We just need some navigation to know where drones are needed to be.

Can someone explain the difference between "consistent with record" and "consistent with routine." In the video, he says "consistent with route" but the App says "consistent with routine." Kind of weird he didn't explain what they mean, but opened them up and showed them.

"consistent with the record" means that the drone will have the same orientation as when you made the way points. Meaning the front of the drone will be the same as it was when recording the waypoints. "consistent with the route" means that the drone will have the front side first all the time. Meaning it will look forward when flying to the waypoints. I think :)

1 - The music is drowning out the voice. We have to strain our ears to hear what is being said. 2 - Is there no way to just draw this on a map without flying? You will have wasted your batteries (and time) before you start filming. It would be so much handier if you could make several sets of waypoints before you even leave home!

Hello from Dublin(Ire), i am reporting a second Disconnect at close range...I was attemting to fly my Drone in a wide open area well away from any Air space or Building's which may have WiFi. I was using the Go4 app on my Mobile Phone with the machine just 1Meter away and 1.6 Meter's high. It took a good 4 minuet's before i managed to reconnect with my device which was very Disconcerting. I am beginning to regret paying so much for this machine since I Have been takeing my time following every Tutorial and making sure that I keep all Firm ware up to date. I am afraid to attempt to use any of the advanced feature's of the machine in case the machine Fly's Away by Itself. Please help as i am Rapidly to loosing faith with this product.
