Five years later and I still rewatch this video because it reminds me of the excitement I had when waiting for it to arrive and my first flight. My drone was still on order when I watched for the first time. I’m still flying my Mavic Pro. :)

Very nice! I can't decide if I should get the Mavic or the P4P for real estate photography
@TimothySunday8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Wilmarth I think if you're only using it for real estate then p4p will be a better option for you since portability isn't a huge benefit for you. The Mavic is just so stupid small that it's a fantastic option for its size. The p4p is super good quality and the extra sensors make it worth it I think. Here's a link for the p4p. Using this link or the one in my description for the mavic really helps me and the channel out. click.dji.com/AKnWTpfmDGaZF_Unbh3S?pm=link

Hello fello Knoxvillian! Looks like your right off alcoa hwy there. Really good video. I ordered mine from DJI on 10/4/16 "good buddy day" & received an email this morning saying that it had shipped with an eta of this friday by 10:30am. At the very least I'm a little stoked! I'll keep watching to see what I can learn. Never droned before. I was waiting for a homerun product like this 1st.

Incredible! I take my first flight tomorrow in New Jersey. Checking out your videos to help get acclimated. They are very helpful. Next stop Costa Rica! I have been scouting out a lot of sites there and the terrain is an issue. Mountains along with wind. But the video will be spectacular with this unit.
@TimothySunday8 жыл бұрын
I'm filming in Guatemala now and the wind at high altitudes is an issue this time of year. But lowering the altitude to get out of the high wind areas helps and it's good to go. The Mavic actually has an on-screen advisory warning if the wind is too strong...which I found really helpful here.
@sowerpuss8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was at Volcan Irazu in Costa Rica a couple weeks ago and the winds were 40 miles per hour. Too strong. I'll be back first week in February. Praying for lower winds. Ran my Mavic Pro for the first time today and it was nothing less than spectacular. I'm glad I watched your tutorials. Took the edge off my nerves. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Enjoy! Rob

Ah. I remember being just as excited on my first day I got mine. You actually you were way more conservative with it than I was. Good for you! When I got mine it was dark out so I couldn't wait to fly it so I tried to fly in in my house as my first flight. That didn't go so well. But it made for a funny video. I was just lucky it didn't break. Damn, the Mavic is tough as it can take a small crash and not even get a mark on it and no snapped props. I was impressed by that. Not sure if you have seen other people on youtube fly their Mavic with broken props but it still flies fine. There is one (Crazy) guy that crashed his drone and broke 3 props and still tried to fly it and it still flew normally. There must be some pretty high tech software running the Mavic to compensate for having only 1 fully intact prop. Even I wouldn't have tried that. :-)

Flying near power lines and over water for first flight..not what I'd do but glad you got it back safe..Waiting on my mavic too and just ordered a g85 as well.. how you liking the G85 weight, AF and stabilization wise? I have a Panasonic gh3.. been practicing walking around with that on a gorilla pod but the exposure is all over the place in aperture priority mode.. how do you set your g85 up for good consistent exposure in changing light whilst keeping the aperture wide open for shallow dof? Thank you and happy vlogging (& thanksgiving!)
@TimothySunday8 жыл бұрын
+justinspirational great questions. I'll be doing a video series, much like the mavic one, on the g85 soon which cover all my settings. I'm still experimenting with various settings and haven't found the perfect setup just yet. The weight is very manageable with the gorillapod. But I actually returned my gorillapod because it kept falling over. I'll have a video soon with what I replaced it with and why I switched.
@justinspirational8 жыл бұрын
thanks - be great to see what your optimal vlogging settings are with the G85 as I've since ordered one too for the same purpose but am concerened about the general slow AF with the panasonic line as well as my question regarding keeping the expsoure consistent..

@schlonzschuppe45167 жыл бұрын
Always fly over water. Over water you got more battery time. Just let it hover and see what happens. The mavic also films underwater. Your first flight should always include fish and reef footage.
