*I MADE AN ERROR AT 0:56. I MEANT to say "record as your POINT OF INTEREST", NOT home point. Your home point needs to be set from where you take your drone off from. But the object you want your drone to revolve around should be recorded as your POINT OF INTEREST, as I say when the drone is actually above the water tower.
Point of Interest is an intelligent flight mode for DJI drones that makes it easy to fly your drone around a selected object (your point of interest). In this video, I show you how to do it and provide sample footage of my drone orbiting a water tower. Please be sure to watch in HD. Please be sure to like (thumbs up) this video, as it will help this channel grow. Please be sure to subscribe. Thanks.
I shot this video on January 28, 2017, at which point I didn't have a screen capturing device. I have since then made a v2 tutorial video right here: • DJI Mavic Pro / Point ...

I completely understand and hear you on that Jerry! My DJI Phantom (the 1st, original) did some really questionable things and I had a bad fly off one time with it. Ended up finding it a month later after a guy found it on his property. I had made several flyers and hung them around and he happened to see my flyer and had the number to call. Thank you for the kind words on the tutorial videos! I certainly try my best.

Dylan Young Thanks for the clarification in the video description. I was going to ask a question about that in the comments but then noticed the description. It scared me for a second when you said that in the video, because if you were in an area with poor visibility and you reset "home" to the thing you wanted to rotate around, you'd lose your original take-off/landing "home", and you'd have to take the risk of manually bringing the drone back for landing.

Dylan I have a question. When you turn your mavic on and the camera Gimbal calibrates. You know when it looks up and down then up again and then it finalizes by looking straight.... Does it make a click noise? Mine looks up then does the click noise as it its the back when it looks down then it looks up and looks straight.. Is that normal for the Mavic?

hi Dylan.. nice work on these epsd's ... easy to understand and apply...I have watched most of your series so far .. enjoyed them all... as I study these .. I began to wonder... can these intelligent flight programs be interlaced and sequential ?... I.E. / could a person such as yourself.. program.. trace - into (POI) into profile.. into return etc....and if so.. how MANY programs could be interlaced into a flight program and stored at any given point? understanding it would take a "dry -run, setup... could this be done in intelligent flight mode? example: launch the drone , from inside the truck, have it trace you in the parking lot for a ful run, fly off to the watertower in POI, while keeping YOU in frame(understanding it would suck out on the 3/4 rotation of the POI, come back to "spotlight " you as it completes the POI rotation, profile you in the truck for a bit.. then go home and land... without you touching the controls ?

It depends on what intelligent flight mode you are in. For instance in Point of Interest, you can move the gimbal/camera angle up and down. I still need to try changing altitude while it is orbiting the subject. I will let you know what happens next time I try that.

Looks like it's not just my Mavic that suffers from yaw error on a PoI. The water tower gradually drifts to the left of the frame, then comes back again as the circuit completes. If you do a 300ft radius circuit with the camera pointing down at around 40 degrees, the point of interest often disappears out of frame completely, like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6vYmKaXatBkqpY. Not sure if they've fixed it in the Mavic 2.

Yeah, this video was put out on January 28, 2017, at which point I didn't have a screen capturing device. I have since then made a v2 tutorial video right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3zHY2SfmM2ph8U

Is there software that you can do this with an iPad? I know you can do it with Nvidia K1. How do you do it?

This video was made BEFORE iOS released the capability to record your mobile screen. I have since this video, probably made over 100 tutorials using the screen capture with iOS. Just have to check out the published date sometimes! Ha. Thanks for watching!
