I've gotten gimbal overload errors from bits of sand or dirt stuck in between the gimbal motors. For me, I couldn't see them or dislodge them until I disassembled the entire gimbal. Or you could replace the gimbal all together.

Hi Christopher , yeah you are right about the frustration with the ribbon cable but I was successful with my first attempt , thank God , I had my ribbon cable for about three months before I decided to have a go at it cause I was a bit nervous to even try but now I have another issue , it seems like I have to also change my Camera cable cause I just can't get this thing to Focus and it will work one minute and not the other , if I play with the transmission line , it might work and then another time it wouldn't work , no Focus at all , just blurry , I am ordering a Transmission cable and hopefully that should solve my Focus issue , thanks and take care .

thanks for the explanation on the gimbal ribbon.I wish more youtubers would spend more time on that than how to remove screws. My thought on that is if you have to be shown how to screw a screw , you shouldn't be going near a light bulb let alone a 1k drone. Besides that , what I wanted to add , and I know it might be a little off putting for some is the following. All of these connectors were held in place with an adhesive or caulk like substance. One thing I've learned in life is that manufacturers never spend money or time on anything unless it's required or essential. Nobody has done this in the videos I've seen so far. And actually the removal of the adhesive is also just as important because if its in the way of making a proper connection, well..... I speak from experience . I closed up my drone after doing the test like you do and later I opened it up again just because that's Me. Low and behold the front right connector was disconnected as like standing up vertically. So what I used was what I had on hand which was PRO SEAL RTV silicone also known as Instant Gasket. Just thought I'd pass it on. Anyway, great video ,Thanks!

great video, easy to follow. After checking all connections and coming up with nothing wrong with the ribbon, my issue is I have some sort of feed coming up on phone, says I have connection in top left hand corner and have a rainbow shaped reading where the video is but no actual picture. I can't help thinking that it may be the dji software not working with my pixel 6 phone correctly, any thoughts would be so appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your process. I replaced my gimbal flex and video cables and found it extremely fiddly. Unfortunately when I finally got it all back together the DJI app says ‘camera sensor error’, and I get no movement or video feed from the drone. Not sure if I need to replace the lens or the circuit board the gimbal is attached to. Or maybe the connectors weren’t attached well enough. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. All the best.

@@ReptileRescue in the end I sent it away to a company here in the U.K. called Drone Doctor. They were super helpful. It was the cables that were causing the problem. And it was either a faulty replacement from Amazon, or I damaged them in the process of trying to fix myself. I’m now back up and running. Bought a couple of fresh batteries and now just waiting for the great British summer to appear so I can go out and fly it again!

Niall Leech yes. At first I couldn’t figure it out. So, I bought a new mavic . Out of curiosity, I swapped cables from new magic to old. The old Mavic worked perfect. I then got hold of the company that sold me the replacement video cable, they sent me a new cable, I put that in the old Mavic, it worked. The culprit the whole time was buying a faulty replacement video cable from a third party. From now on I buy from a certified DJI company. I hope this helps because I know how frustrating this could be. Good luck

I'm getting a "Camera sensor error" on my app (and no video feed, although the gimbal seems to respond ok to all inputs - wheel and 5-way button, and the MP1 flies well, all controls seem to be ok). Could what you describe help to fix it? I also can't get the camera housing off the gimbal in order to replace the cable It's almost as if it's glued-on.. Any suggestions?

What tools do you need to disassemble? Besides the hex screws, what kind of plastic clip removers, or whatever you call it, does one need? *PLEASE* get back to me ASAP* !! Thank you. I need to do a repair, however, I'm not sure exactly what it is I need. *PLEASE HELP* !!!!!

You'll also probably need a plastic pry. They are pretty common in phone battery repair kits.

I had a light crash and drone was upside down for like 30 minutes with power on.got the overload error,camera was still working,next day I booted up drone and no video.No movement of gimbal at all either?if the ribbon cable was bad would the gimbal still move around on powering up?

It's been a long time since I took this apart, but I believe the gimbal ribbon controls the movement of the gimbal. There's a separate cable (it's a bunch of little wires wrapped together) and that's the video cable. If you still have movement but no video, it's likely the video cable that's detatched or damaged.

Turn off the auto focus on your camera. Set it to manual and the up the f stop so we can see clearly what you're talking about.

I mean you didn't have to do it off camera all you had to do is just move the camera out of the way to a different angle and then get to doing it. I'm guessing you probably had some trouble that you didn't want seen by an audience and you got nervous. I stopped watching right at that point.

@Kerfala Diane I had the same thing happen to me. Did the update and next time I turned it on it said Gimball Overload. Thanks for the heads up
