It would be nice if they added a smoothness setting for the head tracking to make it more easy to make steady shots even if you're rotating the head too fast. It would even make sense for the motion 2 movements

The problem is that would make you feel dizzy while flying it. Your brain needs to see the world move exactly with your head movement, if it's delayed half a second or smoothed it's extremely disorientating. The fact they've gotten the total lag down enough to make head tracking possible is insane.

I have been flying dji mini 3 pro since last December, I have already logged hundreds of flight hours and I absolutely LOVE IT! After watching this video, I am pretty convinced I need to get this pair of goggles and and Motion 2!!!

IMO, the head-tracker function is very fun and useful when you first get to a location. Scouting angles and shots before switching to a regular controller is a welcome new addition to my workflow.

The best way to describe head tracking is this is as close as you get to real life. We all head track in every day life. You steer your car in one direction and you might look at the radio on your dash, or at your girlfriend’s pretty smile, or doing a shoulder check when changing lanes. You never change your course. We do this when we take a walk in the park. You walk forward and you might look down at your feet or at a garden. We all do head tracking in all walks of our life. Life would be boring without it. Imagine not being able to move your head freely when walking or driving. Anyone who thinks they’re not into this or won’t use this feature hasn’t given it much thought. The only time I think people are in a course lock is when they’re racing. Okay…then you don’t have the chance to look at your watch. But other than that, I like the idea of head tracking. Even with it enabled you should get used to following your course direction. That would be good practice. It’s not hard. Just follow the little circle with your eye.

Any idea why head tracking forces sensors to turn off? Seems it would be nice to have the option to use the sensors still, even though I realize you could still fly sideways into a mountain, lol

I'm guessing it is the lack of 360 obstacle avoidance (OA) that causes this to happen. I wonder if the OA is turned off on the Mini 4, Air 3 or the Mavic 3 lineup? I would hope not since the cameras that handle OA are separate from the gimbal camera. Would appreciate the feedback if anyone has done this on those drones now that they are compatible also.

Could you do a video on Remote landing / take off for Mini 3? I haven't found any info on this for some reason. I figured, for doing time laps sunsets for example, would be best to land to conserve power. Then take off - all remotely. Does this not make sense?

Thank you so much for the cool and in-depth video. Can you please please measure the latency of the video link between the goggles 2 and the drone? It is really important for my buying decision! Is it 40ms like the avata or 150ms like the videolink to the RC remote? You can measure that with an gopro. It would be a game changer for close proximity flying.

I'm having problems watching video from the drones sd card on a windows 10 with media player. My friend has the same set up and has the same issue. we get noting but a black screen. Our computers will play 264 codec but not 265. yesterday I had a thought, maybe the goggles are saying 264 but are actually 265? I had him change to 265 and the videos play! Going to do more testing today.

Just bought the Mini 3 Pro. I know everyone’s learning curve is different but how long before you became confident flying one? I’ve literally flown it once as I only bought it the other day and flown it up and down, forward and backwards but not forward and up at the same time.

I bought it back in April. It just depends how much time you spend flying I think. Flying in very different conditions helps, flying it over a lake requires different piloting than flying in a backyard. Make sure you try the active track feature as well. I have been really enjoying it lately, good luck.

Most are right handed, but you now have to switch the motion controller over to your left to use your right on the Goggles. Or maybe just do the ballet style reach around. Pretty embarrassing move, but at least you're blindfolded so you dont have to make eye contact with observers.

Afraid not. The goggles are limited to just 2KM in CE mode!!!!! I’m trying to find out if the free ham file hack that puts the goggles in FCC mode still works when using this drone. Also just to note. The motion controller is limited to 6KM

Wondering the same thing. Being able to fly straight while looking a different direction is a game changer for capturing moving objects, but the jumpiness completely kills that. I wonder if there is a cinema mode that would smooth things out (I realize this would sacrifice the speed of the head follow). Maybe you can do it well with practice, but would like to know before plunking down USD $800.

Neat, but it seams a bit low precision. Both moving the head and moving the circle is a bit erratic. This seems hard to do. EDIT: OK - now I heard that you commented at that. But still, I would say that knobs and stuff that are static when not used and only do things when you turn them will look more pro.

Apparently there is no dampening so the footage is very shaky. It seems like a hand-held camera in the sky. Hopefully a firmware update will smooth out the head tracking.
