You should add an annotation about the error you made when talking about parralel active track; You say obstical avoidance is turned off in trace mode, when you probably meant parralel since that's what you were talking about and obviously trace mode does have obstical avoidance.

I am here FROM THE FUTURE. Here to say that a) Subject Tracking will mow be more automated with DJI as soon as you select "Focus Track" suite, via a new onscreen button above the Return to Home/Land button. AND... Although Billy did not show it, POI is particularly amazing for moving subjects. While tracking yourself for example, if you start walking or riding a scooter, bike etc., POI will circle you and keep you in the center of that circle, even as you move along. If you are moving FASTER than the speed the drone is circling, it won't complete the orbit, but you can adjust the speed, or your own to impact this.

Thanks for explaining this. I was trying to use the POI like the Spotlight but every time I touched the right joy stick for horizontal movement it would drop out, plus I wasn't aware that you could change the orbital speed and also use the vertical joystick, now that's a game changer for quality video.

What automatic flight modes will maintain height automatically? My lake (and the interesting birds on it) is surrounded by very tall trees. Also, if I point to a floating goose as the POI, how can I tell the GPS of the bird? M3P.

Thanks, Billy. Good stuff. I haven't tried Active Track yet because I live in an area with lots of elevation changes. My assumption is, with obstacle avoidance set to Bypass, the Mini 3 Pro should change elevation and continue to track when the subject is going up in elevation, but likely not changing elevation when the subject is descending. My drone is too new for me to test that out just yet. 😂

The whole time I tried to do activetrack and it keep saying I can't turn it on with the current recording format. I had to google it a bit and found out it won't work anything higher on 4k 30fps.

Weird. I actually tried spotlight and it never moved as the speedboat was moving away. It just moved its camera to track where the speedboat is at but once it started moving away, nothing happened. It just kept stationary, did not follow it.

ok I may be the only one having trouble with this. I draw a box and the drone gives me an error. "flight mode isn't available in this recording format" I'm at H.264, mov...not sure what else is going on.

I haven’t had much success with the Orbit feature. I tried a tight circle of my car and it doesn’t circle around it, instead, gives audible warnings that an object is too close and cancels the shot’s flight. Since the car was the only “object” within 30 yards in any direction, it must be referring to the car itself as the object in the way. It’s like it’s assessing the box I drew on the car encompassed only a 2 dimensional object with no depth to include in the flight path. I’m guessing I’ll need to select Spotlight mode and manually fly around it.

seems to me that any flight characteristics that involve the drone flying sideways technically cant use obstacle avoidance as it has no side sensors, which is a bummer. I wouldve paid an extra hundred or so for it

Thanks for the info, it is really good, got a question though, (I am new to drones) soon I will be in the Peruvian Andean mountains at almost 4000 mts agl riding in a horse, these places are very isolated and might not have a GPS or satellites available (I will only know when I get there) can I still use that function?, also since I will be riding a horse in inclined terrain I want to be able to take off and land in my hand...for which I have to disable the protection sensors...is that possible?, THANKS

It's probably limited to max 4k 30fps and you're in 40k 60fps. At least that's the case with the mini 3 pro.

Phantom 3 had a follow me mode that was GPS based. The drone followed your remote GPS coordinates obtained from the mobile device attached to the remote. M1 I believe had both GPS based Follow Me and optical based Active Track.

do his last step first is how i found it. Start the drone (flying). Then go to SUBJECT SCANNING. Turn that on, and then select the features u want.

Looks like the Mini 3 pro parallel is really parallel as Mavic 2.The parallel of AIR 2S always ends up following instead of parallel. Superb review, Billy👍
