No side sensors is a big deal. A lot of people would disable most sensors but I find the side ones to be the most useful.

I think the option to disable flying sideways is meant for the auto tracking. If you want the drone to fly under or above obstacles but not sideways, turn this option on whilst auto tracking. But if it is ok that the drone goes sideways during auto tracking, turn the option off. So it is basically an additional safety feature for auto mode. Though your idea for a prompt in the beginning, sideway fly disabled, would be very helpful.

The biggest issue right now is the range of the drone with the new rc controller. In some cases you get connection warnings after 300 Meter in free areas, where my mini2 can go some kilometers …. And checking the web it looks like a common issue -> nice video and good points !

I watched a video from the states where they said that the that the “host connector” is going to have a sim slot adapter so that you will be able to fit a mobile SIM card which will enabled downloads direct from the controller so no need to connect to your phone

Agreed on all points..#3 is very important…great screen so why can’t we download to the controller💁🏼‍♂️How about letting us do basic editing, especially bumping exposure,contrast, color temperature, sharpness, etc. if shot in D-Cinelike allow the final corrections to be converted to a usable file for social media.(even offer to reduce file sizes for text messages). . 2) Another BIG REQUEST is to be able to download the 10 bit D-cinelike files to my iPad Pro. DJI wants me to “Connect to a computer” 💁🏼‍♂️🤔 (iPad Pro can handle 10 bit video without issue… ) 3) in my warmer climate I still have heat issues when transferring files..the workaround is to tun on the props while doing transfers and it keeps the craft cool without overheating🙌🏼.

The problem with auto connecting to your phone is an iPhone problem. When you turn on hotspot on the iPhone it broadcasts its network name for only 15 min. After that if you try to connect to the hotspot it will allow you to connect but it isn't broadcasting its name anymore. The Mavic will not connect to a network that is not broadcasting its name anymore. So that is why it auto connects to home networks (because they always broadcast their names) but not your iPhone because it stopped broadcasting its name.

did you here about since DJI firmware update for the mavic 3 fly more bundle it’s having an issue with the Digital zoom as in you have to mess with it tell it works and an issue a lot of drone pilots are having for some reason when you use the scroll wheel on the smart controller as well same thing happens…. It was because of the last DJI firmware update for some reason ….

Thanks for info about hot-spot not auto-connecting, I collected mine today and during RC set-up I set my phone's hot-spot as the main WiFi connection. Hopefully it'll auto-connect when out and about.

About No 7, i guess it is not available to keep the fronts sensor working, mini 2 has none. It could be enable if the sensor were turned off, but i dont think i would ever do that.

Dude, no drone is perfect, I came from a Phantom 3 Pro and the Mini 3 Pro is light years into the future so I know how advanced they get in such a short period of time. Some issues will be fixed via firmware, other's on the next drone release. Either way, DJI gets it right. Enjoying your content, keep it coming.

About the Wi-Fi and hotspot connections you mentioned at the beginning, I reckon all this messing about with setups will be a thing of the past when DJI engage the use of a SIM card in the extra slot on the controller underneath the flap next to the SD card slot. I have ordered a propellor guard that also protects the downward facing sensors too. 👏🏼

I am a bit confused about this update home point issue. Why is it necessary to have an active internet connection to do this - surely all it needs is a GPS position which the drone must have access to ? Sorry to be so dense but even after flying DJI drones for years now I have never used the return to home function !

There is one other feature I remembered I would really love DJI to add to the DJI Mini 3 Pro: 48mpix AEB shooting mode. It's a purely software modification, but having to manually adjust my exposure settings for 3 consecutive shots while the drone is airborne (and while action may be happening within the frame) makes bracketed shooting a pain in when I want 48mpix shots (which, honestly, is ALWAYS) If DJI could extend the AEB support to support the 48mpix images instead of only 12mpix, this would be a huge win.

I think most here are forgetting that RTH is a safety feature NOT a flying mode. It is in place to allow the drone to fly home unattended for you jokers who illegally fly these out of sight. If you want to track sideways do so without RTH activated - too easy! Most of the videos I watch the drone is within sight but I'd wager many of these flyers are pushing the drones out beyond eyesight when not videoing for KZbin, otherwise why all the complaints from vloggers?

I don't like how vertical objects look like they are leaning slightly? I assume this is a lens distortion since it is quite a wide angle. Still annoying that wind turbines on the left lean to the left and on the right they lean right.

My rc controller does not have the connection issue you speak of.. When i'm out in the field, i just turn on wi-fi hotspot on my phone, and the RC just connects to it automatically...

Connecting to the phone automatically is an iPhone issue I think, although you have the hotspot constantly turned on in the iPhone menu apple make it so the network isn’t discoverable after a period of not being used, meaning you have to turn on discovery button in the control centre. I don’t think there is a way to keep it on permanently.

Hyperlapse mode is not as smooth as the air 2s and it only has a three second interval option I hope they can fix the smoothness of course lock well doing a Hyper lapses and giving us the option of a two second interval.

Biggest problem I have with flying the Mini 2 sideways is the gimbal tilt is terrible. It is fairly good when flying forwards and backwards but as soon as I fly sideways with the wind hitting the camera and gimbal from the side the horizon really gets tilted a bunch! Also, the Mini 2 came with a prop guard unlike the more expensive Mini 3.

Thanks for addressing the points that could - or better- should be improved. Watching the last couple of vids from you I got the impression that you actually think there is nothing to improve, just a perfect drone...which is not the case. If DJI will address all the 6 points you mentioned (and I think they will) then, indeed, the drone would be nearly perfect! I agree, footage is fantastic, images are brilliant - great camera. Incredible what they put in this little thing. But do not forget the clear range issue about 40% of the customers is experiencing (including myself) which seems to be independent from CE/FCC. This has to be fixed ( I am convinced this can´t be done by a firmware update).

Here's how to get the RC (RM330) to automatically connect to your phone hotspot. 1. Pull down shortcut shade. 2. Go to main settings, Network & Internet, WiFi, scroll to bottom 3. Select "WiFi Preferences, Turn ON "Turn on WiFi Automatically (read the description) Your welcome 🙏 FYI - I can update my Homepoint without a WiFi connection, albeit with no map visual.

The problem is iphone hotspot goes to sleep if nothing is connected after 90 seconds when you either leave the hotspot page or put the phone to sleep. Next time you go out, go turn your iphone hotspot on first then turn the drone on it might auto connect then.

I feel like there could be a fix for the tracking and sensor issues by simpily ignoring every second frame, I hope there is a simple fix like that and it gets an update. I got a DJI Mini SE at the beginning of this year as a complete beginner and its been awesome, but this drone seems mind blowing in comparison. Also, Dad wanted one after seeing mine but wanted something with tracking functionality, so this would be perfect for him.

Voice recording was working with a USB C mic connected to the DJI RC host port until the last RC firmware update. With the last update DJI disabled this feature.

Darren May I ask, I find my sticks very sharp and quick in C mode. It feels like it’s in sport mode. Is there anyway of slowing the sticks down. If I just touch them gently it’s away like a rocket.

The lack of tracking in portrait orientation is a fairly simple software modification overall (I dealt with this issue when designing the face and gesture tracking for a PrimeSense SDK - otherwise known as the Kinect or ASUS Xtion - some years back... and more recently for the FaceID on Apple devices) Automatic WiFi pairing with a phone hotspot is, to my mind, essential... and highlights a fundamental problem with the base Android ROM upon which DJI have built. It can be done (it has been done for various custom Android ROMs such as Cyanogenmod, to name just one of the many). What I want is something that, sadly, no firmware update can resolve: LATERAL AND UPWARD-FACING PROXIMITY SENSORS. This would make the DJI Mini 3 Pro the PERFECT drone (seriously, it would be 100% perfect). I know these added sensors would add a few grams (weight which CAN be shaved elsewhere with a few materials changes.... Carbon Fibre drone, anyone? I'll pay the premium for sure!) but, coupled with a processor upgrade (again, I'd certainly pay the premium here) this would make a truly invincible mini drone like the world has never known. Also, a processor upgrade would make options like tracking in higher framerate modes possible... as well as 60fps 4K HDR video capture. This WILL happen... eventually... especially as the 3nm architecture becomes commonplace (it isn't at the moment) meaning you can get exponentially more processing performance with zero added (possibly even some subtracted) mass on the processor. Couple that with a transition from Lithium batteries to Aluminium-Ion cells (you'll be seeing this in the next 5 years) and it's exciting to contemplate what's just around the corner... so long as DJI continue to innovate as technology evolves (don't do a GoPro and become a stagnant mess of unreliable and outdated - overpriced - junk)

iPhone hotspot sharing whilst always on only works with other Apple devices signed in to the same iCloud account form an automatic connection standpoint. You need to open your control centre tap and hold Wi-Fi/Bluetooth box and it will expand to show airdrop and personal hotspot. Tap personal hotspot to allow it to be discoverable and any non Apple device will connect no problems. Discovered this trying to stream to a DJI Osmo Action a while ago… You’re welcome! 😉
