Hey thanks for the info! Is there anyway to color grade on the iPhone or do you need a good computer to do it?
@diegobelmonte179 ай бұрын
Great tutorial, thanks! When you record D-Log M (in my case DJI Mini 4 Pro with ND-Filters) video, does it make sense to just leave camera options at Auto? Or will this ruin or make color grading worse? As a beginner I don't have much experience with Pro settings, so wondering if Auto was an option. 😊
@Watzac9 ай бұрын
My pleasure dude! Auto will make things tougher to colour grade as the settings are changing while you're filming. Best to lock them in and make sure the exposure is good when you start filming and then you can / have to adjust every time the light changes or you move significantly.

I recently got into learning cinematography and this is one of the most detailed videos I have seen so far. I would like to ask if you converted your footage to Rec.709 before the adjustments or after completely grading the footage. Does the footage loses details if we first convert the D-LOG M to Rec.709?
@cotyoran065227 күн бұрын
In this video, D-log M is used which is less saturated version of Rec 709 already. Basic adjustments are enough to create desired one. Color transformation LUTs do same thing with quick settings.. DJI offers this openly to all people in their site to download their conversion LUTs

Hi Zac, thank you for the tutorial, it's really helpful. There are lut available at DJI website to convert D-Log M to rec 709. May I know if is there any particular reason that you follow another method?
@Watzac11 ай бұрын
Hey dude! I much prefer to have full control over my grade. The the conversion lut does a great job to get you closer to an end product though!

Another great video. Really gotta get my color grading lessons in. When you do your own color grading do you relay a lot or half on presets
@Watzac11 ай бұрын
Thanks dude, appreciate the love! I do 1 of 2 things, I either grade like you saw and then apply a lut and dial the intensity waaaaay down or I start with a lut, see what it looks like roughly and then kill off the intensity, adjust contrast and white balance then slowly increase the intensity until I get it to where I want it to be!

I feel like a novice would have to learn a lot before this video is of any use. It’s very advanced.

hello can you make tutorial for color grading and masking ? in davinci its called magic mask wich automaticly select subject and tracks it down and i can put color mask in it if its possible in premiere pro too
@caitlinong53618 ай бұрын
So whenever I add a mask to L color, the rest of my edits disappear so I end up having to add an adjustment layer and create a mask under opacity. How are you able to do this without these extra steps?

Hmm interesting! I’ve never heard of this or come across this issue 🤔 I’m not sure I can help you out here, sorry 🙁

Using the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, DJI D-Log M mode, the Rec.709 LUT (Lookup Table) DJI gave us is not suitable for direct HDR video production. I tried to make HDR many times, but the color gamut required by HDR is Rec.2020, DJI can't provide Rec.2020 LUT, and no company on the Internet provides it. We must understand that Rec.709 is a color space and gamma curve designed for standard dynamic range (SDR) video, while HDR video uses a different color space (such as Rec.2020) and gamma curve (such as PQ or HLG). kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6OrhKV4oJ11fbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmWZpWmgrtyel6s

Not a good tutorial, a good explanation to your process though. Beginners go away cuz he just says ‘and then we’re gunna do this’ and then he says ‘that looks good, next!’ And beginners are left staring clueless haha
