DJI Motion Controller - Who it's for and why it's extremely fun

The DJI motion controller was something that came out with the DJI FPV drone that surprised us. We didn't really see it coming, but when we got it in hands, we had way way more fun playing with it than we ever expected. It's an incredible tool and has some interesting use cases, but it's probably not the only way that people should have to control the drone. But it made me and Winston smile, and that's all that matters.

You're totally right, and here's the crazy thing. My buddy just got half his hand blown off from one of those barbecue lighters. He's been so jealous of me getting into FPV. He's going to be freaking stoked when I tell him. For the record I don't want this thing. Nothing about it appeals to me.

Tremors - anyone who’s hands shake and struggle with regular controllers, this is a wonderful alternative. Many older rc enthusiasts have the shaky hand problem and its next to impossible to fly confidently any more. We bought this and now trying to figure out how to use it for our other quads and airplanes. Truly fantastic.

@@snviper No not head track gimbal. Head track flying. One trigger for the power and otherwise just look where you want to go. The camera gimbal is only up down

Hi NURK I am not sure if I like this or not. Ever since I was flying fixed wing I was using a single stick radio because of Cerebral palsy and when I was younger I moved to a normal radio but now I'm using the Xlite. I liked Livyu FPV’s approach on this drone. He pulled a Doc Brown and took it apart, just to get the idea of the inner workings on it. It was quite interesting, but everyone has their take on it but like most have been saying (it’s the gateway drone). It basically flies by itself but most importantly gives everyone a glimpse of what FPV’s about. I’d be interested in it just to get good camera footage, but I’ll stick to my carbon fiber beasts instead. For now.

Just watched Ken H video on it and after a light tap on the bottom, the battery quit working. I can see what DJI is going for, but they need to put out a Version 2 quickly. If they would take input from veterns of FPV and make a V2, I think they would kill it.

There are different types of plastics. The FPV is PA6 glass fiber reinforced, which is what's used in high quality power tools. power tools .

Can this be flown without the goggles? Let’s say my goggle battery drains or I get typical DJI bugs that freeze the goggles or blacks out the screen or goggles just malfunctions for some reason

Now an interesting idea in the VR department would be to find some way to mount the controller to the goggles, and find a way to actuate the throttle differently. I look forward to what some of the Modders will accomplish with this setup.

@@NURKFPV Indeed! One side note; I have always been a bit paranoid with these kind of controllers. You could get a bit too relaxed while flying and inadvertently start gesticulating to someone. 🤔 that might be a way to get it to flip, but more likely crash

That's pretty cool. I think I'd fall over trying that. How about a swivel chair? 😂The dji fpv drone looks like a very good beginner kit for people who can afford it. I do think once someone is ready to try full acro mode, flippy flops bando flying they should move over to a carbon fiber kwad. The dji does a lot of cool things, survive crashes isn't one of them. I'm kinda thinking the main benefit of this drone would be that friends could try out FPV even without any prior stick time. Not really possible with conventional FPV quads as crashing on your first flight is a given, unless you have hours of simulator experience.
